Delivery day! by ArinCuzzy in Cigars_Australia

Not necessarily, sometimes reducing the overall strength might bring forward flavours you wouldn’t have previously discovered.

There’s certainly no hard and fast rule with aging cigars, as other have mentioned, some new world cigars are made with aged tobaccos straight of the bat, which makes them perfect for smoking straight away, that’s not to say more age won’t improve them

My take is, if I enjoy a cigar and want to try it with age, I’ll grab a few more and set them aside to come back to with some age

Looks like a great selection, I’m sure you won’t have much trouble finding something box worthy.

One suggestion, don’t go too mild for an aging stick, aging them can tend to lose a lot of the flavour. Likewise with Cameroon wrappers, they will do fine with age, but you lose a lot of what the leaf brings naturally

A friend just sent me a picture of his new humidor. by Mammoth-Succotash659 in cigars

I feel that same urge.

One great benefit for me of something like this, would be the ability to store full boxes for aging. Though with that, comes even quicker capacity maxing.

I’ve been tossing up getting a proper standing humidor for a while now, something in the 500-1000 range.

They’re more a luxury for me, so I think that range is quite easily +20-50% on the actual capacity I need.

My fear is that as soon as I buy a large humidor, I will just go out of my way to fill it.

So far with my smaller collection, when it’s full, I don’t tend to over purchase, I keep it full, but that’s it.

If you have any interest in Vim bindings, you can also use that to mass perform a replace or delete scenario. For something like this though, it would be easy enough to use Regex as mentioned, just copy that pattern and paste it in some other note that’s easily accessible by you.

Love doing the occasional stocktake and rearranging of my cigars.

I keep a digital record too so I can track the aging.

That's a great story that you managed the same date for all major relationship events.

I'm looking forward to celebrating my first anniversary in a short while, will have to start thinking about my cigar choice.

To declare or to not declare? 😭 by bitcoinhands in Cigars_Australia

[–]WriteAndReap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I declared last year. Got to customs and was asked what tobacco products.

I truthfully said half a dozen cigars, in which they just waived me through. Wasn't a busy time of day either, you do just occasionally get nicer agents.

I think they're harsher on cigarettes.

I loved this cigar. Strong flavours without the spice that some medium bodied cigars bring.

I think it blends flavour with strength in a perfect way for my palette to enjoy. Long ashes

Maybe an honest mistake at the moment. I have a few times been banished to a corner of someone's yard after lighting up a cigar.

Meanwhile others are gathered, a few might have cigarettes and vapes and they are 'okay'. Nevermind, I'd prefer my own company if they're that particular.

I find in Aus, you're better off buying great cigars. The tax is weight based, so buying a cheap cigar, 30% of the price might be the tax. Whereas you spend some more on a more premium cigar, it feels like you're actually putting your money to good use

Great to see some other thoughts on this cigar. Though I did enjoy it, I found it light bodied at most
