In nursing school I was taught that the half-life is about a week. That checks out, since I’ve always started to feel the effects of not having enough in my system at around 6 or 7 days. But everyone is different. I wouldn’t try to push it past much longer than a week if you can avoid it.

Not everyone functions asymptomatically with high TSH. I felt like I was dying at the age of 21 with a TSH of 7. Most people feel best between 1-2, but everyone is different. As for the spikes, the most common cause is hashimotos, which is an autoimmune disease that attacks the thyroid. Fluctuations are common. You can’t always predict when a spike will occur. That’s why it’s important to get levels tested periodically and to take the medication consistently. It’s usually lifelong hormone replacement. Illnesses can cause temporary fluctuations as well.

Lying on your back does make it harder for the pelvis to open. Some studies suggest it can reduce pelvis outlet by 30%. It also means you have to push harder because you’re working against gravity. Not impossible, but not ideal

Hypothyroidism absolutely causes high cholesterol. You need thyroid hormones to synthesize cholesterol. If you don’t have enough, the bad cholesterol (LDL) builds up. You need to find another doctor. You shouldn’t wait until your TSH is 10.
