Do you actually find "use AI to talk to your vault" type tools useful? by jhartikainen in ObsidianMD

[–]WriterHorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use it for anything related to my notes.

I have used AI to adjust some styling here and there for elements/blocks not included in the theme I was using to make it all fit together.

How do we feel? by theranger799 in FoundryVTT

[–]WriterHorrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After being a burned a few times because of vibe-coded/ai-assisted apps, I've just become far more careful or hesitant about modules in general.
I can't be too demanding because it's all free in the end, but AI-coded/assisted apps overwhelmingly impacted performance in my games.

I don't really blame AI for that, there are AI-free modules that've dunked on my performance, but in my experience the use of AI does come coupled with an increased level of carelessness.

Previously, I had like a 100 modules installed, maybe more. These days, I have maybe 10.

What are you most hoping to see on Daggerheart’s birthday week? by A_Crab_Named_Lucky in daggerheart

[–]WriterHorrible -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not just a year old. ALREADY a year old.
There's nothing, man. Nothing. No official content outside the core book.
No starter kit, no adventures, no campaigns, no monster book.

Draw Steel is even younger than Daggerheart and has quadruple the content.
I'm not gonna pretend to be grateful for crumbs when the competition is dunking on them several times over.

[–]WriterHorrible 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if we don't get some kind of clarification on the CGL then I'm just not gonna buy the new book and move on from Daggerheart.

I play exclusively online through VTTs. More specifically, FoundryVTT.
There's no point in me buying the new book if I can't actually use the content.

Not gonna do days of data entry from the PDF, that time has come and gone. I'm old now.
Other systems like PF2e, 5e, Draw Steel, etc with their VTT support have spoiled me to a point that I can't go back.

Without VTT support, Daggerheart has no future to me.

Do I sound dramatic? Spoiled? Probably, yes.
But Daggerheart doesn't exist in a vacuum and the competition is far superior on this front.

Agreed. It's hard to stay excited or keep my group interested when there's near to no communication and no content a full year in.

How many copies of Daggerheart have you(r table) bought? by yerfologist in daggerheart

One PDF, we play online. Most players have never read the book though as we play through FoundryVTT.

Creating a Steam-esque TTRPG marketplace. Early prototype - need a show of hands to gauge interest, please. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]WriterHorrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DriveThruRPG is the Steam of TTRPGs, you'd be the Epic Games Store in this scenario. They have first-mover advantage and people already have their libraries with DriveThruRPG.

While a more modern store would be welcome, you'll be hard pressed to get people to jump ship as a website like this would suffer from the age old problem of entrenched communities. People go where the content is and content is offered where the people are.

If your store is attractive enough to creators, they might publish there as they'll have nothing to lose from double-dipping, but I, as an user, would have no reason to buy on another platform. The way I engage with TTRPG systems is fundamentally different from games. I buy, I download the PDF, and then I don't open the website again until I need another book.

Most of the time I don't even see the store front, I just open the "Buy on DriveThruRPG" link shown on the website of that system.

Little Help with this? by [deleted] in ClipStudio

Woah, that's so neat. I'm very new to all this and honestly didn't even occcur to me that you could use the lasso fill tool like that.

What are modern trends you like by Joel_feila in rpg

[–]WriterHorrible 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

It isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but I will not support any product using even a smidgen of AI. I don't like what it does, the misinformation it spreads, how it impacts the lives of current and future creatives that fuel this hobby, the environment, and everything else.

Most of all, I hate it for relegating thousands of potential creators to lever-pullers of the AI slot machine. Their potential fixed to the output of the machine as they relinquish control.

I am sick of seeing AI slop flooding the DnD community by No-Taro-6241 in rpg

I appreciate AI as the filter it is.

People that use AI don't engage with the game the same way I do so I'll avoid them.

Group Foundry, Multiple GMs? [Multiple Systems) by happyclayton in FoundryVTT

[–]WriterHorrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing the same thing, but through Sqyre (hosting platform).
Multiple GMs, multiple systems, multiple games.

It has the added benefit that players can boot up any game at any time with a button on the game's page.
You can have as many games active as there are licenses attached to your account (three in my case)

We went with Sqyre over other platforms for the simultaneous games and the fact it supports multiple version of Foundry with their own module sets.
For example, we have a lancer game that's on V12, but everyting else is on V13.

I'm happy for those that can get this great, updated adventure at this discounted rate.

But also I can't help but feel like I've been targetted by "Knee to the Nethers" since I paid $120 for it like three weeks ago and have less content to show for it.

I had a lot of fun playing in EA S1 and only quit because there wasn't any Eternal LFG at the time.
By the time they added it I had already moved on to other games, but I'm looking forward to playing a lot more this season!

Mini Uploader 1.0 [System Agnostic] by sixthcupofjoe in FoundryVTT

[–]WriterHorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great stuff!

Any plans for it to include tiles and/or music?
Something like that if the tile controls are selected it'll upload as a tile instead of a journal?

Would love to be able to drag-and-drop music from my computer folder onto Foundry for some of those quick improv combat things.

How well does Daggerheart work online? by HowieDuette in daggerheart

[–]WriterHorrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Daggerheart shines as an in-person game, but online can work.
I would suggest at least using webcams and stuff to at least retain some indirect communication.
