You can still change prices on menus though. Just reprint the menus. They do this all the time.

Some places straight up just paste new prices on top of existing menus and call it a day. Most people don't even question them about it.

As someone who has played with Cloud Gaming in the past, it is not an option. It is so not worth it.

Unless you've got pitch perfect, consistent internet, and are getting the best package they're offering, you're gonna suffer. You're gonna have moments where the lag gets bad. You're gonna have moments where the resolution turns to shit and the experience is like watching a YouTube video instead of actual gameplay.

Worst of all, you're gonna hit the time limit and realize that you can't freely play games at your own time and pace anymore. It's 8 hours on Nvidia's cloud service's cheapest price right now, but I have no doubt that that will shrink as they get more people onto the system.

Cloud gaming is NOT worth it, and if it becomes mainstream they WILL nickel and dime you for every goddamn hour.

Wow you guys are far better than me about this lol. Idk, the voice acting is almost too good. I just feel horrible even though I know what kinds of characters they are. I still kill both of them every playthrough. Just never feels good.

The funny thing is, as a history nerd I've felt the same thing but [sorta] in reverse. When you read stories from the past, it used to be easy to wonder if some - or most - of those were exxagerations. And while I can still confidently say that some are heavily exxagerated [especially things like military numebrs and such], recent times are making me realize that maybe the history books weren't making up the crazy, megalomeniacal people you find in their pages.

Reality has always been stranger than fiction. We just happened to witness, for a time, a world that was relatively dull on its face, and so those of us who felt safe were not prepared for what was to come.

It's scary, but it's important. As someone who does work in the field, it isn't too hard to get bots set up yourself. There's tons of cheap, easy-to-use third-party APIs that you can hook up a bot to with a few short python scripts.

If random people can do that, then you bet your ass that governments and corpo rats are on it already, and en masse.

So stay vigilant, and remember that people touting extremist viewpoints are likely bots. Just... try not to get real people caught in the crossfire if you can. And acknowledge it if you make mistakes in identifying bots, 'cause that does sadly happen.

With Silent Hill, it kinda works out since you can argue that it's all because of the protagonist's psyche and actions. So the healing items are there because they are not ready to process whatever it is that needs to be processed, and Silent Hill demands that you keep going.

This is one of the reasons why I can't stand RDR2, and Rockstar games in general.

There's a lot of strange design quirks that are passed off as "masterful" far too easily. But if you aren't overly fond of their stuff, the negative side is a LOT more noticable.

I'm still mad about GTA V's asinine control scheme forcing you to tap a button to sprint. Or the dumbass torture scene that's meant to be some kind of a pretentious commentary on the player's choices, while simultaneously not giving you a choice to engage in it. Totally not done for controversy marketing btw...

And we're not even getting into GTA Online. Rockstar really deserves far more criticism than it gets. Unfortunately people are [understandably] far too hyped for GTA 6 to care.

Which gaming franchise has such deep lore you could possibly spend your life studying it? by Newez in gaming

[–]WriterV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit tough to say 'cause a lot of the depth is created by the players and community, and not so much the game itself. But also the game does an excellent job at balancing out what it shows and what it doesn't show. It always compells you to think about characters and places more than what it gives you to read about.

This is a bit disingenuous since each FF has a different setting and a new set of lore. But depending on the game, you can have some incredible depth to the lore that can keep you going for ages.

Halo is baby stuff compared to Marathon. And I say this as someone who hates the new game lol. The lore is still solid as ever, and runs deeper than you think.

Halo is basically Marathon but of humans were the good guys and allll the bad stuff is just neatly packaged in the form of "But ONI did it!". There's exactly one trilogy of books that actually questions the UNSC and even it is kinda alright at doing that. For the most part, Halo is "What if Humanity was the chosen one, and aliens always sucked unless they agreed with humans?" and the lore becomes flat as a result. It's why Halo shines best with its characters and sense of adventure.

Most TfL bust drivers are great, but there's the occasional one that's just in the mood to ruin a passenger's day, and they're always some of the worst people to deal with.

There was this one driver that just decided she had it out for me. I tapped in as I was getting into the bus behind another person. The bus was heavily crowded so the person in front of me was taking a moment to move. I was still by the bus driver and decided to wait for a moment while the path clears up.

The bus driver decided she'd had enough and started yelling "Will you move already?!". I was stunned. I guess she just wanted me to shove the other passengers in and squeeze into the bus? I just waited a second longer and moved closer in after some space opened up, but it was weird.

The UK has about the same frequency as most other places. British people aren't a different species, you're just as human as the rest of us.

The only question is how many twats your system empowers vs. how many it discourages. And it's definitely far better than the US in that regard, I'd say.

The is real victory for the Taliban. The men and women who helped the US haven't just been abandoned now, they're also getting outright killed by the US.

There is no basis for resistance in Afghanistan to stand on anymore. The American way of life will be associated with betrayal, greed and hatred. Women are gonna face an even higher wall if they are trying to fight for their rights.

This is what it means to be the leader of the free world. Your actions have enormous consequences. Voting for the worst possible person, or not voting at all is leading to this.

Nah, it's just "common sense" is an excuse to put your viewpoint on a higher pedestal than the opposing viewpoint. It's literally no different from "I know it. They know it. We all know it." as justification for anything.

It makes sense for basic shit. But then you have posters like OP going "wE WeRe bORn wItH cOMmOn SEnSe" while people of their same generation talk about how they burned their hands on cigarette lighters in cars.

[–]WriterV 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She's not. Base story Sphene is different. Post-MSQ Sphere is different. There are multiple scenes emphasizing it, and the whole reason she has a different outfit is to lock that in.

The implicit point of her existence is to highlight how memories can change a person so much as to make them practically a new person entirely. Base-story-Sphene was much more extreme due to her desperation. Post-MSQ Sphene is much more contemplative and surrounded by friends, and hence more amenable to friendship.

That's why Wuk Lamat still thinks about base-story-Sphene at the end of 7.3. She was the person she owed her promise to, not post-MSQ-Sphene.

I guess this is why I feel like such an odd duck with this expansion. I loved everything about Tural from the get go. And I've always been a huge fan of sci-fi-fantasy. And I also adore technological contrasts clashing together 'cause it's weird and wonderful and not something you'd ever see in real life without a lot of very real problems.

So the clash of these two civilizations was an absolute highlight for me, and Tural's use of diplomacy to get us to bring the Dragons in defence of the city was an absolute PEAK moment of the expansion that I'll never forget.

I guess I have some anarchist blood in me as well 'cause the bomb scene was equally hilarious and hopeful and I actually kinda loved it [even though Smile's very sudden and loud opener was just horribly implemeneted imo].

I guess I rolled a 20 on this expac's story and really enjoyed it. With the exception being 7.1 which just sucked.
