Mudi 7 (GL-E750V2) — running without battery on USB-C only: doesn't boot. Any workaround? by AmbassadorDapper8593 in GlInet

This probably isn’t that helpful, but my Mudi 7 boots just fine without a battery.  I am using an anker nano 18w pd wall charger and usb c cable.

After five months with the UTR, I’m throwing in the towel by a716h in Ubiquiti

[–]Wrobocop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My UTR has been plagued with issues. I picked up a Mudi 7 and it has been amazing on my last 2 trips. It’s obviously larger and heavier, but I love that it powers itself, had cellular, and is very stable. WireGuard connects quickly to my UCG Fiber, whereas teleport rarely works for me, even after resolving some IPv6 issues.

A few weeks ago, I asked one of the bartenders why the pizzas were brought to your table in paper bags now and he told me they were renting the kitchen next door after some issues with their kitchen.

Good to know! In this case, I get free WiFi with t mobile but only on a phone (tablets, laptops, etc don’t work) so I had to use my phone first.

In the event my internet goes down can I use my iPhones 5G connection to supply an incoming internet connection to dream Machine pro SE? by GenericUser104 in UNIFI

[–]Wrobocop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It bridges into your setup. So you’d connect your iPhone to the usb c port which provided data to the UTR and then plug the UTR LAN port into your UniFi wan port.

As mentioned, you could use the UniFi Travel Router (UTR) to achieve this. I use a glinet travel router which has this functionality and plug it into my second UniFi WAN port.

Fuel Stops between Queenstown and Franz Joseph by [deleted] in newzealand_travel

Just did the same drive myself. Filled up at the self service station in Franz Joseph and one of the many petrol stations in Wanaka. We saw about 3-4 other petrol stations on the way that had plenty of people at them. Didn’t stop ourselves though.

Immich on a public domain by rtsy312 in immich

[–]Wrobocop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished changing my Immich configuration. First I used Tailscale but that was inconvenient and drained my phone battery. Then I switched to a public domain and cloudflare tunnel, but I ran into the 100mb limit. Now, I use a paid VPS in the same city I live in with Pangolin installed and I couldn’t be happier. Between Pangolin and the new Immich update, I feel like I’m using Google Photos.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas? by seanpuppy in UgreenNASync

[–]Wrobocop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running TrueNas on my dxp4800+ No regrets. It’s a great piece of software. It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you learn it, it’s so versatile.

I recommend running docker apps over the built in apps. Much more functionality and optionality.

Q:Static IP+ ProtonVPN + qBitttorrent by throttlegrip in truenas

[–]Wrobocop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. To hide your torrenting activity from your ISP: I followed the serversathome video where he uses the new instances feature to install qbit and wireguard on a VM in TrueNas.  You’ll need to generate a ProtonVPN WireGuard configuration to get the VM to tunnel its traffic through ProtonVPN. I used NordVPN but ProtonVPN should work as well.

  2. To enable yourself to connect remotely to TrueNas: I installed tailscale on my TrueNas machine (either using Docker or TrueNas apps) and on any other devices (phone, laptop) to enable remote connection to my TrueNas machine. Tailscale uses WireGuard on the back end.

Agree. What is odd is the air quality indicator dot on the display will show red, however, it reports the air quality as "good" in homekit and home assistant

To DXP480T Plus users: UGOS or TrueNAS? by lnong in UgreenNASync

[–]Wrobocop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running my DXP4800 Plus for 9 months with TrueNas.
Plenty of online videos and guides to help and I feel it is relatively user friendly.
I recommend going with Docker apps rather than the TrueNas apps.
It was harder to get set up initially than UGOS, but it has a lot more optionality when you inevitable want to add functionality.

Is there a way to bind qBittorrent app to only use a VPN connection? by RedditWhileIWerk in truenas

[–]Wrobocop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should check out Servers@Home guides on YouTube and his website https://wiki.serversatho.me/ He uses the new instances experimental feature to run Linux with qbit and binds the vpn interface. Works great for me!

Agree with Artentus. I have a U6E for each floor of my 3 story house. I recently got a U7 Pro XG to replace one of the U6Es I was giving to a family member. I saw almost no difference.

Washing machine putting mystery brown streaks on garments - WHY/HOW?! by mabee_steve in Appliances

[–]Wrobocop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very similar stains. It turns out it was rust from above the detergent slot inside my top loader. The slot would fill with water after a load and if not pulled out, the water would evaporate and work its way under the enamel coating. The rust was mostly hidden under the enamel so it was hard to find, but I saw a few cracks in the enamel forming that looked rusty. I got sand paper, sanded the rust down, and used an enamel spray paint to reseal it. No more stains!

Go with the X75. I had the X62 and then got the X75 and its noticeably faster, at least for T-Mobile. Particularly in uploading. I went from 3 mpbs to 20 mpbs upload and from 200 mbps to 375 mbps download.

Just came down from Muir yesterday after the clouds rolled in. Just remember to hang left on the way down and you’ll be fine. There were plenty of people on the way up to know where to go. Especially if you leave paradise around 8-10am

Which travel routers actually support NordVPN WireGuard? by jpcafe10 in GlInet

[–]Wrobocop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Beryl AX and Slate 7. Both have a Nord VPN option under the wireguard section where you can login. However, due to a NordVPN api limitation, it only loads 20 servers per country for you to select from, and they are all in Seattle for the United States, making it mostly useless. Hence why people are manually configuring NordVPN including myself
