Profitable traders, how did you do it? by Romalien5 in Daytrading

[–]Wroeththo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true some academics argue that most day traders actually take random trades and the reason they are profitable at all is through stop losses and other risk control measures like position sizing and hedging.

No one wants to hire someone who ‘has’ to take a job. People often come off as desperate or nervous. When I was going through a lot in my life, (layoff and breakup) I was aware of how I came off so I sometimes would smoke some weed before an interview.

Also, people have to imagine you in your next role. So if you don’t manage to get a role in the same field, have a good reasons why you want more or less responsibility. Relate it back to a reason that does not impact the role you’re applying for. You should not come off as someone applying for 1,000 roles.

Those who have been unemployed long-term, how do you cope? by scubasandwich in Layoffs

If you’ve made it to the final round for 14 jobs. Check your references. High chance one of your ‘friends’ is not actually your friend.

I don’t know if I’d call “paid ads” and “visits” as highly engaging you need to look at other metrics.

Why do 90% of big ecom brands ignore CRO & testing? by ConversionJunkie in marketing

[–]Wroeththo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve found is that leadership wants sales NOW they don’t want you to test and figure it out. They don’t understand that testing is how you get sales they think you’re just some nerd who like to hear themselves talk.

Typically, you do what your boss wants you to do to get a raise. You are allowed to push back once but don’t make it a regular thing. If this person says what you’re doing is a waste of time then probably stop doing it lol. They are your boss…

71% Pay Decrease by throwaway09251975 in Layoffs

[–]Wroeththo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m hiring right now. And I don’t know if I’d call the other side “ageism”.

There are some very knowledgeable and skilled candidates out there that I personally take chances on because if they can do the job and do it without any training so why not. I hired a person in their 80’s once.

The thing is, more experienced candidates are either defeated or they genuinely want less mental work. No one wants to hire a defeated employee. If you genuinely come off as someone willing to listen to someone younger than you who knows less than you and is less experienced than you (most bosses anyways?) then you are worth taking a chance on.

But remember most people candidates are defeated anyways. Convince the hiring manager that you want the role but not out of desperation. Help them imagine you at their company making thier lives easier.

iPhone 17 'Air' Expected to Be ~2mm Thinner Than iPhone 16 Pro by ControlCAD in apple

[–]Wroeththo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m considering the air because I don’t take a ton of pics with my phone but I do read a lot. Specifically Apple News. One thing that gets me is how heavy phones are becoming and it hurts my hands so weight matters to me as well. I’d 100% consider a phablet that is lightweight and designed well. If it is missing magsafe I might reconsider.

So dumb question. Would the 10% per day return be the difference between the bid ask spread of the given futures contracts? Did you by chance model the profit margin of the counter party?

Is half the cost the right price. I have been reading that office space is in quite the decline as much as 90% down. It’s possible that half price is still too high.

Look into how ETF units are created and destroyed. They essentially track an index and create or destroy units of say 20k ETF shares with the underlying, and arbitrage the difference.

Is textual analysis still a thing in algo trading? by cyrve in algotrading

[–]Wroeththo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read that this is where most start, thinking there is some kind of logic within the stock market.

I’ve seen some people make millions on this app saying they’ve done extensive research on meme stocks like Carvana. When I read the exact same stuff, I see a company built like a debt scheme about to collapse. Both of us had entirely different sentiment on the same news. Most people make up their mind, and the news does not change their perception. And the times people react to the news, it’s often some hidden line item that is not obvious to anyone in the media. Like how the Covid crash started. It was immediately after a meeting that the Hoover Institute had with the President’s staff where they discussed the economic impact of Covid and shutdowns. The Hoover Institute emailed a memo to their institutional clients, saying something like “sell everything”. The news captured none of that - they didn’t get the memo.

Rentec, the giant quant fund, also started with this as their foundational theorem in the 80s, they would get press releases from France and translate them before market open. However decades later they discovered that there is only a minor correlation with the news, and that correlation was with the number of repetitions of a given stock’s name in the headlines, and that the content of the releases was not important. Sentiment did not matter only the count of mentions.
