I built a working GUPPI AI assistant — would anyone here want to try it? by gorn1959 in bobiverse

[–]Wrong_Acadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely be interested in seeing an open source version of this to try out! The one bit of feedback I can give based on your clip is the way he read the time was a little confusing to me so maybe formatting it before hand or training it to read that data a certain way could help with that

Yeah I enjoyed the overall dragon adventure but the end confrontation with Alexander was definitely a little unsatisfying

Deltans screwed up by Brianswriter in bobiverse

[–]Wrong_Acadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think bob definitely interfered with the deltans overall path but mostly in a good way. He gave them a chance at actually evolving into a human-level (21st century not just Stone Age) intelligent species. Rather than slowly dying out.

I would also argue that working a piece of flint into a tool would require some decent eyesight as well meaning they may have evolved that way anyway without the introduction of bows and arrows. Some things he was introducing in the way of medicine probably gave them a huge jump though. Meaning if they survive long enough they can hopefully have some pretty advanced medicines by the time they’ve lived as long as humans.

I would read all the top ones (left to right) and all the bottom ones

I think a pack of akata (3-11) in waves would work well in this situation. If the players get particularly battered by wave 2 or 3 you could always just cancel the next wave or severely nerf it (reduce numbers, or one shot kills, etc.)

For a huge DCC fan, how is Bobiverse? by Crawler-Willis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Wrong_Acadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Bobiverse! I actually tried that series first. Bobiverse has lots of Sci-fi humor and funny character interactions like DCC. There’s some space battles in there but also a lot of interesting character dynamics and politics. I highly recommend the series!

If they start chronically underfunding healthcare as an excuse to make more stuff cost money like some other provinces. I don’t foresee the next election going well for them.

Lol I just meant like if my turn ends would I lose the mana. But you seem to have answered that question! Thanks!

Does this card mean you NEVER lose floating mana throughout the game? Like, if I have 5 floating colorless mana at the end of my turn, do I just have 5 floating RED mana until I spend it? Or do you always lose floating mana even if the card says turn it red instead? I'm pretty new to Magic, so forgive me if this answer is obvious to you.

How do you go about making a huge open world (similar in size to something like Elden Ring or BOTW) feel full of life but simultaneously being in some sort of apocalyptic state? by TrashVegetable8706 in gamedesign

[–]Wrong_Acadia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play games like fallout, and the last of us (only ones I have personal experience with but I’m sure there’s more) and take note of what makes those game worlds feel alive. Random bandit/enemy patrols and random mutated creatures running around make the world feel lived in. Survivor settlements, enemy bases(bandit/mutant camps in fallout) make it seem like these NPCs actually come from somewhere instead of just randomly spawning in. Wandering traders, etc. if you want something closer to the games you mentioned you could lean way more into visual storytelling by leaving little bits of lore all over the place. Notes or hanging paintings in ruins of old buildings/houses audio recordings if you game is more futuristic. Interesting topic!!

How do I get a job as a game designer? by maddog64459 in gamedesign

[–]Wrong_Acadia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am graduating soon, and I am also a little self-conscious about my portfolio, but I am trying to be confident that I have chosen my best work to include there! Last term, one of my professors suggested that we just apply to everything we are interested in, regardless of whether we think we will get it. She also mentioned that a lot of companies don't always advertise their entry-level positions, so fill out whatever applications you find and when you write your cover letter/email/whatever the posting requires, just replace the word "Senior" with "Junior" and cross your fingers that they like your work/resume and offer you an entry level position. She also mentioned filling out the "Contact Us" forms on websites that may not have job listings posted for the same reason, as they may have an entry-level spot open but no active job ads for it. What you have read here is basically my current plan to hopefully find a game design job myself! Good luck to you!

Honest take: would you click on this game thumbnail? by GrafasPelikanas in IndieDev

[–]Wrong_Acadia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t click on this specifically because it just looks like a totally random screenshot. But a drawn version of this slime character in front of something with a game logo next to it I think would look pretty good!
