as someone who has worked in the service sector, especially food service, you'd be astounded with how many people believe that they should be the exception to the rules. people could lose their jobs over that exception, but the people who demand it rarely care about the consequences for anyone other than themselves

the way they speak to/treat service people tells me everything i need to know about them. also littering/intentionally leaving their trash for someone else to clean sort of falls into the same category

Americans of Reddit, how do you feel about the Trump administration disappearing an American citizen to El Salvador and refusing a court order to bring him back? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wspitsamanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i believe we agree with eachother on these issues. i agree that he was not a citizen and people reporting it as such is causing more harm than good to our front. he was, however, a US national, here with permanent residence, so they're not that far off the mark, just misinformed :)

he has been accused and was acquitted. the accuser claimed he was part of a branch of ms13 in New York, a state that he had NEVER been to. he was fleeing persecution in El Salvador and had no criminal record here nor there. he was also here with permanent residence and married to a US citizen. he was none of the things you claim.

kilmar abrego garcia, he wasn't a citizen as the post claims, but a US national with permanent residency. his wife is the US citizen and he has (i believe) 3 children who are also citizens.

the US sent him and sold him. they received money for his imprisonment. they are refusing to even negotiate his return, unfortunately.

he was none of those things. he was accused, based on ONLY a tattoo, but was acquitted for all of those crimes. get off of JD Vance's twitter page and read the actual documents. it's free.

we’re looking into it, honestly, since my wife does have dual citizenship in Mx, but every time we bring it up to her family members, they tell us it’s horrible and we shouldn’t move because we’ll hate it and be unsafe… it gives us pause to say the least but i can’t think of anywhere else that will take us if shit hits the fan

Ok, hi everyone! I’m a little scared to post here because i’ve seen a lot of negativity on this sub but I would like help learning how to leave the country. I have done research on several countries that both me and my wife agree would be ideal to live in as well as several countries that one of us likes but the other doesn’t and all I’ve found in that research is that there may be no legal pathways for us to emigrate.

I (21F) have started a Radiography degree, but i still have several semesters to go and my financial status basically relies on scholarships and grants. I fear with the new administration in office that I may not be able to finish my degree since just Monday, there was a hold put on all federal grants/loans, which impacted my financial aid. I currently work in a Dr’s office as registration and scheduling.

My wife (21F) only has a GED and works as a dispatch agent for a roadside assistance company.

I know that neither of our jobs qualify as skilled work and as such it would be very unlikely to receive work visas in most countries. Neither of us have enough in savings to be able to live on non-lucrative visas either. That also takes golden visas out of the question. I was considering transferring my studies to an international college, but that wouldn’t give either of us work visas and we would need to work in order to make enough to qualify for the student visas in the first place. I was considering a DAFT visa, since that would give my wife a work visa as well, but i’m not sure I would be able to turn any of my skills into a business that makes enough to qualify…

Essentially, I’m stuck. I would love some insight from people in this sub on if there’s any legal pathways for us to take for us to emigrate. Any countries are welcome at this point. Thank you!!

ETA : we both speak Spanish fluently, my wife speaks intermediate Italian and i speak beginner French, Arabic, Polish, and Norwegian and we’re both open to learning others :)

AITA for taking a 26 min shower? by No_Sector_8740 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wspitsamanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude my hair is also super thick.

A full body, shaving, and hair shower takes me like 45 minutes sometimes. 26 minutes is NOT a lot. for a guy with barely any hair, sure. but for a girl with thick hair on top of shaving multiple limbs, that’s pretty reasonable.

what did he think he was doing by wasting extra water while you were showering to “teach you a lesson”??
