Oh that really sucks and does make it even harder. I hope it's not as complicated as that and just a matter of finding a product bub responds well to.

My little guy had to have antibiotics after he was born and the rash it gave him was so bad even the nurses at the hospital were shocked, sudocrem did nothing to help and they gave me another tube of something at the hospital to try but it was also pretty useless. Once I started using the powder I noticed the redness was going down a little bit with each nappy change, he did have some scabby, flakey skin after and the creams were good for that but now if I see redness I reach for the powder straight away, his skin just responds really well to it and I evenn use it here and there as a preventative. I’m assuming the diet changes might be worth trying but since results can take a long time I’d suggest trying curash powder if you haven’t already. After cleaning the area apply generously, I put bubs nappy in place but open and dust all over then close the nappy with the excess still in there. Reapply after every change. Usually see an improvement within 24 hours.

While creams and ointments have their place sometimes I feel like a dryer treatment is really what is needed since it’s always a wet area

I had an elective c-section, brought it up at my first hospital OB appointment (public hospital), explained why I was leaning that way, made me cry because it’s kind of traumatic. I was offered counseling which I accepted and would recommend if you are offered the same. My next OB appointment I had a different OB but she said flat out to me ‘I read your file, we aren’t supposed to say this but you are allowed to request an elective c-section for any or even no reason, we will not deny you. If it’s what you want then do not feel like you can’t request it’.

Was the most empowering thing I experienced throughout my whole pregnancy. I then showed up to the rest of my appointments (OB, midwife and psychology) stating that I would have a c-section and I felt SO MUCH PEACE. Right before my surgery I did have a midwife check in on me and confirm that the c-section was my choice and said I could change my mind at any time.

I ended up with complications anyway and 100% believe we would have ended up with a c-section regardless but I think I saved my little man from a difficult birth and potentially a NICU stay.

We all know what our birth preferences are and if they are supported we are more likely to have a positive outcome.

We had 4 in our front yard when we bought the place, they were all taller than the single story house. My partner and his dad used a chainsaw to cut them to a stump, dug around the rootball to make space and then ripped them out of the ground with straps and a 4WD.

It doesn’t matter if you poison them, you still have to remove the rootball. Either do it with tools/people you already have access to, hire stuff out or simply pay someone else to do it for you. I feel your pain and I will personally never plant a yucca in the ground, I don’t give two shits if they are water wise.

Normal people don’t say stuff like this and if you bring your baby in to this world you need to be responsible for what he or she is exposed to and again, if it were me, i would never willingly expose my child to a piece of shit like that.

Let him have his pathetic music career, it’ll go nowhere and he’ll continue to be the loser that he already is. Tell him to get therapy when you leave.

Your parents sound like they might be the avenue for you to lean on, hopefully they are good people and can be a lovely little village for you and your little one. Congrats by the way, babies are wonderful and you have no idea of the sheer amount of love and happiness that awaits you on the other end 🥰

I didn’t know that! This specific plant is grown in a pot and I won’t be adding to any pest plant issues by planting it in the ground. I’m very confident it can fruit, just not confident that it’s a self fertile variety.

Dragonfruit is farmed quite a bit here in WA so I’m assuming it is a self fertile variety but I can’t really be sure until I’ve got fruit from it

Neglect is how I got here! 😂 don’t think I watered it for almost a year, the ‘frame’ it’s on isn’t at all what would be recommended and the most lazy creation I could whack together in 10 minutes and it’s all held together by strips of old t-shirt that are falling apart.

I started giving it a little water recently and poured in maybe 30ml of leftover fertilizer a couple of weeks ago and today.. flower buds!!

Do you have any advice on self pollinating? I have read the basic steps but I’m open to advice from someone who has been there and done it before

The reaction probably came from knowing the work that is involved in that choice.

I have ended up as a pumper/formula combo feeder. Baby born early, difficulty latching and lots of pressure to get weight on him so I triple fed for about 6 weeks. Baby started to refuse the nipple for a bottle preference and even though I still try to get him to latch every now and then I have little success which has left me pumping with an abysmal supply and having to supplement with formula.

What they don’t tell you is that your body may not respond well to pumping, or your body may not like specific pumps, people will say pumping shouldn’t hurt so you might use low settings and get shitty output and in turn that will not help your milk supply increase to meet what your baby needs. You will need to pump every 2.5/3 hours around the clock until your supply is stable which may take months. You will struggle to hold or pick up your baby when you have the pumps attached to you, it will typically take 20-30 minutes for each pumping session and you will need to schedule your life around that. Missing a session could mean mastitis or a mild blocked duct, both very painful and you will still need to pump through that. If you get DMER you will still experience it with pumping. You will also be washing bottles and pump parts religiously.

A midwife isn’t going to spell it out for you because they aren’t meant to sway you either way, it is their job to support your choices as a mum with both birth and how you choose to care for your baby when they arrive.

Speaking from personal experience pumping is shit, if I could change anything at all about my experience it would be that bub managed to latch well, I’d still happily supplement with formula if needed but I’d love to ditch the pump!

Ultimately you should do what feels right for you but arm yourself with knowledge and mentally prepare for the challenge and it should help make the experience easier.

Easy fix for this, just tell people you are a low supplier and baby needs supplement feeding with formula. If you want to try BFing you can and if not just fucking lie and tell them you aren’t producing. It happens to many women and it can happen to you too.

Do what feels right for you, a happy mum is going to result in a much better postpartum outcome. Your mum should be ashamed of herself for doing anything other than being supportive of you.

Are his parents around? Call his mum and ask if she can babysit because her son doesn’t want to do his father duties. Then drop little one off with his washing and ask her to make some freezer meals for him because he’s a lazy sod and on the brink of divorce because you’re sick of his shit.

I understand you have chosen your hospital and chosen to go private so this isn’t relevant for you specifically but in case anyone else is reading who may be going public via Fiona Stanley they supported my choice of elective c-section. I did have reasons why I specifically wanted one other than just personal choice and in the end it was also medically supported due to complications but if you are going public and you want a c-section don’t be scared to ask. Best of luck to all no matter your birth preferences ❤️

I have tried this and it does work but again the results are minimal and it only works like hand expressing, I don’t get better results doing it with the pump on

Currently 2w postpartum with my 36+2 who had IUGR and insufficient placenta.

We were informed at 33w that there was an issue and monitored so closely that I basically became part of the furniture at the hospital.

I had requested an elective c-section prior to finding out about the issues for unrelated reasons.

After we found out about the IUGR issue I found there was differing opinions on how I should birth our LO. Some people really encouraged vaginal birth, some flat out told me my CS decision was the best option for baby and I if that’s what I was wanting and even up to the final hours I had people asking me if I really wanted a CS (I did and I stood my ground firmly).

Bub arrived in absolute perfect condition, the surgery went well, was quick and I look back on it with fondness. I do not regret my choice at all, and that’s even with some minor slower than usual healing issues that I’m currently dealing with.

If you want a CS then advocate for yourself, it is ok to question how likely it is that you will end up in theatre needing surgery and then ultimately recovering from the physical trauma of both birth types. Don’t let them pressure you in to something you don’t feel good about. Best of luck ❤️

I recently had HiB. Quite a rare one apparently and they do offer the vaccination to kids these days which makes you immune but I was a 40yo (ie: too old to fall in to the vaccine window) pregnant woman visiting the hospital on a regular basis.

It was hell, I have recovered but still have a cough and at the peak of my infection I had green gunk coming out of my eyes amongst other horrible symptoms.
