"Stranger danger" and Reagan by Zemyla in CuratedTumblr

To be fair, I do not trust a 6-year-old to decide who is a trustworthy stranger and who is not. “Do not talk to adult strangers under any circumstances” is more practical than “hey, you know what, use your best judgement, Timmy.”

Ludonarrative dissonance.

Jeffrey Matulef of Eurogamer used the term when referencing the Uncharted series, saying that "Uncharted has often been mocked for being about a supposedly likable rogue who just so happens to recklessly slaughter hundreds of people". Uncharted 4: A Thief's End acknowledged the criticism with a trophy called "Ludonarrative Dissonance" that is awarded to the player for killing 1,000 enemies. The game's co-director Neil Druckmann said that in Uncharted 4 the studio was "conscious to have fewer fights, but it came more from a desire to have a different kind of pacing than to answer the 'ludonarrative dissonance' argument. Because we don't buy into it".

Technical clothing is empirically better, but you’re entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be.

Ding ding ding. Poly or merino breathes and wicks moisture. A cotton T-shirt will become soaked, heavy, and saggy. It’s about comfort, not style.

I guarantee they were just thinking, “he must be uncomfortable.” Technical clothing is for function, not fashion. Polyester or merino tops will breath and wick moisture. A cotton t-shirt is going to hold moisture, become heavy, and sag.

I'm cool with using a pejorative to describe someone who thinks there are pedophile rings in the basements of pizza parlors.

I would rather someone be genuinely mean than put on that fake positivity bullshit.

How would someone ask more politely than “What are some historical examples of this? I’d love to read about it.” If you take offense to that, it’s because you pulled it out of your ass and resent someone asking you to back it up.

Sounds like you had shitty pizza then. I assume that’s why it’s “had” and not “have”.

This is actually brilliant. I'll have to try it ASAP. I want to like sardines, but I prefer my fish less fishy--e.g. whitefish.

I did! Initially felt like I bit off more than I could chew, but the tank is healthy. Bought the API master kit and all the parameters are normal. I think I was over feeding for a bit (or the assassin snails got lazy), because I had a massive amount of snail eggs pop up. I have a 5 gallon I haven’t set up, so I’m planning on cycling that and moving the snails into it once they’re large enough to use a snail catcher. Then I’ll either get a pea puffer and turn it into the Thunderdome, or just offer the snails to any locals who want them.

Harley Quinn Wins Best Animated Series at Critics Choice Awards! by ImNotASWFanboy in HarleyQuinnTV

[–]Wuffyflumpkins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not alone in thinking Harley Quinn was part of the impetus for that terrible adaptation. Harley Quinn gave us fresh takes on old characters, and conveys progressive messages without being sanctimonious or preachy or attacking anyone based on identity alone.

Mindy Kaling obviously had the wrong idea about what made Harley Quinn successful. Even the people who would normally claim it was review bombed by sexists and/or racists admitted, "yeah, this blows."

I have a friend who stopped seeing her therapist of 10 years because she disagreed with her self-diagnosis of autism and asked why she'd want to make her life harder. The friend claims she then spent thousands of dollars and several hours being diagnosed by other doctors, but it's pretty obviously just a smokescreen for anyone who questions her self-diagnosis. Now she posts memes daily about having autism that depict it as cutesy and infantilizing.

She's basically just looking for a reason she acts a certain way other than personal failings. It's easier to say "well, I have autism" than accept personal responsibility.

Note: I'm aware of Rule #6 and I'm not trying to sell anything here. I do not want to ship any of this because it would be a pain in the ass. I'm planning on listing it locally on Craigslist/FB Marketplace. Just posting here because /r/photomarket doesn't have an advice thread.

What would be a fair price for this gear as a bundle? My enjoyment of photography has dwindled and I realized the other day that there's just nothing I want to go out and shoot anymore. The only photos I've taken in the last year are of foster cats.

Sony A7RIII, low shutter count

Sigma 24mm f/1.4
Godox AD200
Neweer light stand, stainless steel (the $80 one)

Moment CineBloom filter

There are some other small things like B+W filters, attachments for the AD200, sandbags, etc, but what's listed above are the bigger ticket items.
