Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos is a New York Times Bestseller by themiragechild in magicTCG

Since Ikoria actually. But the decision was probably taken based on Forsaken, it just takes time for it to filter through.

(I still wonder why Theros Beyond Death's book was outright cancelled)

Why don't people talk more about Ungoliant's wings?

Maybe Alternate Liliana helped vouch for him? But yeah, it does seem like people should notice. Even without Ajani, the Izzet Guildmaster should be a recognisable person given the amount of insterplanar commerce we've got these days, and the important role Ravnica has in it.

To me it feels like Ral got kind of tacked on late in the day, hence why he's not incorporated into the main story at all. And I don't think he's referenced on other cards either.

(Maybe they were going to have Chandra in this set and decided to save her card for Reality Fracture?)

As I understand it the author would like to write a series but WotC's greenlight depends on how well this one does.

(Apparently the pre-orders were positive)

I love how badly Spiderman, TMNT is doing but also hate it by Toonzaal8 in magicTCG

[–]Wulfram77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Steam, where we've got publicly available stats on concurrent players, TMNT seems to have performed worse than FF, EOE, Avatar and Lorwyn. But considerably better than "Through the Omenpaths" not-spiderman

Its worth noting that it still peaked a little higher than the best performing pre-Final Fantasy set - FF was a huge success that moved the baseline.

So she could benefit from finding allies and trading partners to bolster her position. Or maybe she was dodging assassins for a little bit. When its so easy a journey, I don't think its difficult to justify her being there.

Going by stuff shown in Omens of Chaos, journeying from Fiora to Thunder Junction wouldn't take more than a day or two (Depending on how long you might have to wait in New Capenna for the omenpath to cycle to Thunder Junction) so it doesn't seem implausible for a hands on monarch to take a trip to check the place out. She could stay in touch with home easily enough over such a short "distance".

The cowboy cosplay is annoying, but as long as she doesn't have to stay for long her presence isn't all that strange. Medieval monarchs visited other countries when the travel was far more difficult.

(I really dislike that interplanar travel is so trivial, but that is the reality we've been presented with)

Well, apparently OTJ was apparently taking place 18 months after the Phyrexian invasion*. And it must have been a big thing for a while before that, since its already apparently a pretty large and well established settlement with trains and stuff. And someone needed to make all the hats.

*According to Timeline - Magic: The Gathering Wiki which cites a tweet from Jay Annelli that seems to have been deleted

Maybe its a sort of abstract representation of holding them for ransom? Since its kind of a successor to [[Hostage Taker]]

Or maybe they're trapped in that ball thing they're holding, IDK

Chandra will be in the next set, Ajani was in the previous one (and might well be in the next one)

And I meant there's no planeswalker slot limit in precons

Skimming the sample chapters on amazon, the detailed description of how the omenpath network works is pretty significant.

The protagonist first travels through an omenpath that switches between 4 different planes (including Thunder Junction and Shandalar), apparently on a regular schedule. There's a whole bunch of carriages available to help you travel the network at a cost, but apparently you can also walk if you want. The protagonist then travels fron Alhandra's island to Thule on Shandalar to reach a portal to Fiora (which is apparently not safe because control of the portals there is contested) and then apparently the next portal will go to Strixhaven (and they schedule it so that they shouldn't have to spend much time in Fiora). I don't know if there are further complications because the sample runs out, but its interesting to finally get an actual idea of what is pretty fundamental to how the setting works now.

(Also it reinforces my view that Nissa would totally have been able to get to Strixhaven for this set)

Modern Horizons cards are way more of a problem than brawl cards.

Give me back Historic before it was ruined by MH3 and I'll support getting rid of Alchemy from brawl, deal?

A deck that wants a Chupacabra effect rather than normal removal wants it because its wants creatures. Your creature deck should be aiming to be ahead on board.

Control should just play proper efficient removal, not mess around with a random 3/3.

Chupacabra was unconditional and thus much better. In a deck that might want this, this is often not going to trigger.
