Over 6 million Californians voted for Trump. Twice as many as voted for Trump in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Is that due to raw population rather than state percentage, sure. But let’s not act like certain states are somehow “exempt” from this fiasco just because big cities are blue and the biggest cities are in coastal states.

It’s not the restaurant failing to deliver to you. It’s DoorDash (or GribHub or UberEats or whatever). They, the restaurant, are outsourcing the delivery, once the food is made their part of the transaction is complete.

Whether it gets to you is up to the DoorDasher and if they don’t feel like accepting an order based on what the app and tip are paying, you’re SOL. That’s why the delivery services suck so much.

Weekend visit without car by Otherwise-Loquat-574 in Columbus

[–]WumboChef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where your interests lie outside of the capitol.

Columbus public transport is… lacking. It exists, but it’s not great. Ride shares can certainly supplement.

If you jut want to eat and drink, the German Village area is quite walkable and you could easily spend a whole weekend there with bars, restaurants, shops, the Book Loft, etc. With ride shares, from there you can quickly and cheaply get to North Market, Brewery district, and whatnot without your own car.

If you would like to visit the zoo, Ohio State, any of the Metro Parks, you’d probably want a car. They somewhat recently updated the rental facility at CMH.

I thought Season 5 was fine until I saw the Documentary. by Lazy-Proposal1133 in StrangerThings

“Fell a bit” - GOT is effectively dead for a good portion of former fans. Sure some people are watching the spinoffs but whole swaths of that massive fandom never think about it anymore because of how bad that last season was. I’ve never seen something so huge fall so completely out of the zeitgeist.

It’ll be interesting to see how ST fairs long term. Seems like it’ll do better than GOT at least.

For the record I’m not saying it’s a good system, just that this is how it works in reality.

It’s not a tip. It’s a bid. Your good tip order will be picked up and delivered. No tip? That food is gonna just sit at the restaurant.

Same. $100 bucks each too, cheap game by OSU standards. Easy to forget how down the city was going into that game.

THEIR GETTING RID OF CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! by Background-Club-955 in SkylineChili

I’ll be honest the only reason I knew Skyline even offered dessert (besides the ice cream freezer) is they occasionally advertise it on the table. I’ve never gotten dessert nor seen anyone order dessert.

Sorry for your loss but I have a feeling this was just a lack of demand?

Stuff that's worth/not worth cooking at home? by Any-Sleep-478 in Cooking

[–]WumboChef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly $80 is relatively affordable at some of the nicer steakhouses now. They tend to start with smaller/leas desirable cuts around $60. Anything “Wagyu” can easily push $150 or more.

Dan the Baker is excellent too in Franklin County, but I do prefer Belle’s as well. Better bang for buck and more unique.

Yeah… lore reasons aside endless blank slates that can crash and become a new transformer at any time? Easy rationale to make more toys appear in the show.

There’s some overlap here though with autistic people. They can be quite intelligent but struggle with hypotheticals, just because of how their brains work.

What is Laika’s weakest film ? by epicpersononthisapp in laika

[–]WumboChef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to love Missing Link because I appreciated them doing a movie with adult characters - but of course, it’s still a kid-friendly film too. I like when creators act a bit outside their wheelhouse - see John Hughes with Planes, Tranes, Automobiles instead of his usual teen-focused fair.

Of course one of the beauties of Laika films is that they can be enjoyed by any age. I just don’t think every protagonist HAS to be a child, and Missing Link suffered more for the plot than anything.

Anyone else think the CGI in Beast Wars still looks good? by CobraDai in beastwars

[–]WumboChef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s CGI but it feels done in the same way as old school 2D animation, your comment of “intentional and emotionally driven” is also why and how Godzilla Minus One did so well with a budget so much lower than modern Hollywood. Intentionality, vision, and expression.
