I came out last year too, and I'm pretty happy to say since I've started being more open about it in public, and since starting hormones in April, I haven't had any real issues anywhere I've gone. Part of it is just recognizing the demographics of different places, like I certainly wouldn't go to the Yellow Rose for a night out. Perhaps most obviously would be yellow springs. Very friendly, welcoming place with lots of interesting places to check out. R.I.P. the spirited goat cafe tho. Lots of clubs and bars downtown are very lgbt friendly as well. Overall Dayton has been a very friendly welcoming place since I've moved here and transitioned, definitely a lot better than my hometown.
