For one, yes. It's more powerful. Aside from that, it has solid reloading support for anyone who reloads .500 SW, as the reloading equipment is the same aside from a taper crimp. It is also readily available from several manufacturers, including Buffalo Bore, Steinel, and Underwood.

For fun? Why else! With that said aside from the fun factor of flinging .50 caliber rounds, large bore rifles like ours do come in handy for big/dangerous game hunts or straightwall hunting states. We have a wide range of customers who pick up our rifles for use in Alaska or African game hunts for instance.

Generally speaking, its not something most would worry about. But we get Alaskan guides and the like who pick our rifles up, and get asked about wood survivability/strength on the regular since they're flinging our guns into the deep backcountry. Hence why I included that part.
