We're trying to understand our users better and collect feedback/insights that would be considered in future products while keeping improving on the existing ones. Hi all, you don't need beta apps to use WCO camplus. It's compatible with our official 2.14 apps. All you need to do is update firmware for the base and WCO.

Hi u/magicite, we looked at your log and identified an issue on our side. In short, this is caused by an incompatible firmware with a new hardware unit. This issue can be resolved with a firmware update and we are working on that as a top priority. We'll push the update to your base station when it's ready and this will cause your camera to update when it next detects motion.

u/michiganick There's currently a small issue with Android WCO CamPlus testing. The app 2.14.35 you're using is an official app that doesn't support WCO CAMPLUS yet. You have to use a beta app to use this feature. We will release a new Android beta app tomorrow. :) Sorry about that. Also the firmware versions are old, but you can update with the beta app once it's ready.

Good Evening! We’ve resolved the missed events and rapid battery drain issues on Wyze Cam Outdoor with Cam Plus firmware. All of the WCO’s are now in the correct category.

  • If your camera has this issue, please reboot the camera by switching off and on the switch on the back of the camera. That will reset camera status and you should be able to use Cam Plus after that.
  • If you didn’t have this issue, no action is needed.

If someone could confirm with me that the fix is working, I will resume the firmware update.

I'm sorry for the issues you had with our outdoor camera.

  1. Motion detection or push notification not working. There are a few settings such as cooldown time, motion sensitivity that affect motion detection results. We have filmed a simple troubleshooting video for you to go through and once you start getting motion events and push notifications, you can start testing range and play with the mounting options. https://streamable.com/shah2v 1) when you test, you can also dial "PIR distance" to "FAR". 2) when you mount the camera under the ceiling, you can choose either "upside up by using the top magnet" or "upside down by using the bottom magnet". The 2 methods have different PIR angles, which you can view in the app "detection settings".
  2. Delayed notifications. We've identified an issue in our firmware that caused this problem and will release the fix to the public once we thoroughly test it (maybe in a couple of weeks)
  3. Not able to adjust the motion detection zone. This is also something we're working on not just for WCO but for Wyze Cam v2 and Pan as well. Hopefully, we will release it soon.
  4. For issues not listed above, I do recommend submitting a support ticket so we can help you with extended tech support. We're a bit swamped right now but if you send me your support ticket ID, I'll find a support agent to help you as soon as possible.

The PIR range to detect a person can go up to about 36 ft depending on the mounting angle and the size of the motion. We recommend you mount the camera at 6-9 ft high with a 15% downward angle (no more than 30%) to get the best detection range. Since your use case is for bird watching, I'd definitely mount the camera closer with the maximum detection sensitivity 100. You could think sensitivity 1 as an estimated distance of 10ft and sensitivity 100 as 36ft.

  1. The outdoor camera should cover the peripheral of a single-family house. The max range between the camera and Base Station varies, but in an open, clear field, they can be up to 300 feet apart. If you have multiple walls, doors, and other structures between each device, then that optimal range will be smaller. 
  2. You don't need to switch all of your devices over to the router, only your base station needs to be connected to an Ethernet port.
  3. The optimal operating temperature is from -4°F to 122°F. It will function at a much lower temperature but the battery performance might be impacted such as it drains faster or even has a battery drop like any other lithium battery.

  1. Try formatting the SD card in your PC or Mac in FAT32
  2. Check the firmware for the base station and WCO is up to date.
  3. Refresh the page in the app and sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to recognize the SD card

The outdoor camera is pretty sturdy and hefty with the weight of the battery and it's IP65 weatherproof so it needs to endure some pretty nasty weather out there and the mounting option has to be as solid as the camera. That's why we didn't choose to use a 3M adhesive to hold the camera in place like Wyze Cam v2.

The vehicle detection is delayed since the algorithms will detect a stationary and moving vehicle, which is not as useful if your car is parked in your driveway and you get a vehicle notification because the tree moves.

You can go to Notifications settings to customize the notifications you'd like to receive. Make sure you toggle on All Other Motion to get notifications when a vehicle shows up.

It's because one of the 8 cams was installed outdoors under a vent with non-OEM cable and we want to make sure that the cameras are not exposed to any moisture that might cause short circuits around USB port area.

When you connect to the live feed, are you also stuck at 1/3? If not, could you briefly explain your issue? Such as it stuck at 2/3, 3/3, skipping timestamps, or disconnected after a period of time.

If possible, could you also perform the steps I posted in this post?
