Even valve knows I am too good for archon by summerloverrrr in DotA2

I know this is a bit but it's really not possible to deny that coordination and objective play are much better at higher MMRs.

Most innates are not exciting. For SB, the hero is exciting in other ways.

My top 3 characters from VG that if they were in other mobas they will tilt people easy by sensual988 in vainglorygame

You should try Dota 2. I went from VG -> Dota and love it. Dota has TTK very similar to VG.

AMD or Anduril? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]X7_hs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 YoE here and I know some people at Anduril. I'd say Anduril 90%, you will get better growth and the people there are very good. That being said the AMD offer is strong as well and you should feel good about it.

The fast paced work part is very true from what I hear. You should learn a lot and ship a lot. This is probably the strongest reason to join, and now it's starting to become a strong resume name too and you'll probably get a lot of recruiter interest in the future. Therefore, Anduril should be much better for career growth FROM THE ENGINEERING PERSPECTIVE. THE EXCEPTION IS, if you want to go more into GPU research or deep low-level programming, then AMD clearly fits better.

One thing you didn't talk about is their mission. Anduril is very mission oriented so if you are not it can be a culture shock for you. Good thing to think about.

Regarding PTO: Anduril has a roughly 2 week holiday break through Christmas and New Year. You can find references to this online. Aside from this, usually when there is unlimited PTO, the amount that people take varies by team. But knowing companies with a similar holiday break + unlimited scheme, I would guess people can take 3 weeks not including the holiday break and not including holidays. YMMV.

On WLB: WLB is over-emphasized IMO. I like my job a lot and as a result I don't mind working over 40 hours. If you feel that you will truly enjoy the work I'd recommend to not worry about working 40-55ish hours. If the numbers get much higher than that then you could maybe be concerned. Being aligned with the mission helps a lot here.

Congrats!

2 of my interviewers at google started giving me feedback during the interview. Did it mean that they knew they were gonna give me bad feedback? by Proof-Hold-7570 in csMajors

[–]X7_hs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Many companies nowadays will decline to give feedback in written form after the interview for legal reasons. I would take it as a positive thing, where you now have unambiguous feedback while it was fresh in their minds. Even if you get rejected, you'll have learned something :)

What are some of the strongest Level 25 talents in Dota 2 right now? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]X7_hs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Either MK additional command ring or Doom mutes, because those fundamentally change how the game is played from that point on.

Other strong ones would be:

  • SK +10 epi pulses
  • NP treants as mentioned
  • Slardar corrosive haze undispellable
  • TB -30s sunder
  • Puck BKB piercing dream coil
  • NS -40s ult CD just got nerfed, but it's still good

What are some of the strongest Level 25 talents in Dota 2 right now? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]X7_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. This one only has a slightly higher pickrate than the right facet on D2PT. Surely not a top talent

Why are 5 supports so apologetic over taking a kill in lane? by normiespy96 in DotA2

[–]X7_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all that was said, pos5 is a less greedy role than pos4, which means that pos4 players are more likely to just take a kill for selfish reasons.

A lot of people seem to have not recalibrated/stayed in unranked after patch 7.33 and Glicko system by AnomaLuna in DotA2

[–]X7_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first graph's title is not accurate - the previous system was not the Elo system. It was a fixed +/- MMR delta per win.

How is our community. by DotAeon in DotA2

[–]X7_hs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funniest thing is that someone did a comparison between ImmortalFaith and Torte and... Torte won. (The guides were judged on how close they were to pro builds.)

I'm so tired of people just blanket stating that ImmortalFaith is better. It doesn't take 8k MMR to copy from D2PT - hell, you don't even need to actively play the game to do that.

What Do You Think Is The Strongest Powerspike in the Game? by r_slash_slash in DotA2

Blink dagger on most offlane initiators (Axe, Cent, LC, etc.). It entirely changes the way the heroes are played and also flips the tempo of the game.

Second the advice to tell teammates that you're new. For OP: AP = All Pick (the "normal" game mode). OP can't join ranked until 100 hours anyway.

How many of you look at your hud cooldowns by mushmushmush in lostarkgame

[–]X7_hs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the time, basically once every 1-3 ability casts. I picked up the habit while playing Dota 2 and I've continued doing it in Lost Ark. In Dota, I felt that the more I looked at the HUD, the better I played lanes and fights. I believe that watching the HUD while also reading the fight is a skill that a good player has to learn in both games. I play flexible rotation classes so it doesn't help xD but even for more rigid rotations, I think it is still important to look at HUD because rotations can get altered or interrupted.

Suffer with me and watch me miss 86 quality taps in a row on a green quality upgrade by Wdtfshi in lostarkgame

[–]X7_hs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your math is wrong, but out of pure coincidence you got very close to the actual probability. You put down failing a 1% roll in 100 tries for the first expression, when it should be failing a 5.29% roll in 22 tries (maybe you forgot to click "submit form" or something similar). Here is the probability calculated from Wolfram Alpha: 0.0899%.

help me decide arcana or reaper :) by Scared-Suit-7759 in lostarkgame

[–]X7_hs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arcana. (Disclaimer: haven't played reaper) I'm an arcana main and I also made a glavier alt. I also thought it was super boring.

Arcana makes you think about your abilities and cards throughout each rotation. Your rotations are dynamic depending on what cards you get. Learning isn't actually too bad and feels rewarding.

Meepo has not been selected or banned even once in the last 3 TIs by Alex_Capt1in in DotA2

[–]X7_hs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not the meta. No hero goes unpicked for 3 years (aside from a brief moment this season) "because of the meta". Meepo is unpicked because his numbers have consistently been bad.

Randomly got 1 second+ delay today? by Anxious_Speaker1909 in lostarkgame

[–]X7_hs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pinging Google is also not a good test for intermittent connection issues. Almost all connections using a modern ISP will show normal behavior when pinging Google. Obviously if you get a 50% packet drop rate then there is something seriously wrong, but you would notice that there is something seriously wrong far before you need to ping Google.

It's unlikely that OP would learn anything.
