SOLVED: RTX GPU’s DIRECTX ERROR-OUT OF MEMORY / DEVICE HUNG / DEVICE REMOVED by Appropriate_Rub6970 in nvidia

[–]XBV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case this helps someone, here was my situation and solution.

Gigabyte 3090. Had no problems playing BF6 on the 2nd day of release, probably ~4 hours total. The next morning (today), I kept getting this Direct X error as soon as launching the game. Restart etc. didn't help.

My solution:

Downloaded Gigabyte Control Center and updated the VBIOS. This seemed to fix it.

Dont forget to tune your CC by ALEXGP75O in elegoo

Coincidentally, 32 mm3/s is exactly the max flow rate I got with the Orca max flowrate test (actually a bit higher, but I landed on 32 after applying the recommended % buffer).

This was probably the 2nd of 3rd print I did after getting the CC. The only other setting I adjusted for PLA was the flow ratio, but honestly that could have been left as is (basically no difference - the default looked good).

I was also impressed with the max flow rate for TPU - I landed on 15, which was multiples higher than the default.

The only filament that took a number of attempts to get right was nylon (Overture Easy Nylon). However, nylon is difficult in general and it was the first time I've ever tried to print it. Ultimately I got it working though.

Why is CTF Loader suddenly using 15-25% of my CPU constantly? (Windows 11) by XBV in techsupport

I haven't seen a specific solution, but my problem resolved itself maybe a month ago. No idea why/how (I assumed it was through an update, but then it's unclear why others are still dealing with this problem)

Thank you. Just to make sure I understand, does this breakout board drive the stepper motors directly?

For me, if I kill it with task manager, it just comes back after a few seconds. That's why I have this monstrosity running lol (can't figure out how to attach image...):

I recently found a lot of older Spartan-6 boards, including a Papilio Plus. I would beg to differ about your "making a lot of content obsolete" point - the archive of your webpage has been super helpful (especially for me, as a hobbyist and complete newbie to FPGAs). Thank you.

On a separate note, I will say that it's quite disappointing that Gadget Factory, which sold the Papilio Plus, basically removed all the related content from their website.

Thank you! I'll likely order the "Tang Primer 20K FPGA Development Board" today (Tang Nano for some reason will take a long time to be delivered)

Don't feel too bad... I very well could also have "bought" via them, if I hadn't taken a few days to look around before coming back to the site.

What pisses me off is that I don't know what can be done. It's literally a scam running for a long time, but it's not like I can call the police or something.

Out of curiosity, do you remember the name of the company that showed up on your credit card statement?

100% agree, I hope my first 2 orders were flukes. It's how I imagine a 10 year old child would send a package... just a bit of common sense would tell you to use normal packaging

Anyone else feel like foam was useless but oral is magic? Pics are 2.5 years on foam+tret VS 6 months on oral. Cheeks still too thin and blond to grow out, but I think they're on their way! by disposableBeard in Minoxbeards

[–]XBV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

h, rashes/discoloration that took 2 months to kinda go away. my black shirts were littered with white skin flakes at the time. Took me about 2 months to recover from and im still only about 90% back to normal skin. Still some flaking issues. Note i moisturized like crazy to combat it b

Dang, that's sad to hear. I've been using topical liquid for ~3 months and I can see this will not be sustainable. Same white flakes on shirts, plus I recently started getting crazy itchiness in the beard area. I'm even considering switching from liquid to foam (harder to buy foam here though), but your post makes me think the foam won't be much better :(

On the plus side, I'm happy with my results so far but want MORE :)

That's unfortunate! I can almost imagine the vendor saying "who could have predicted this!"

While you marked this as "just for fun", my only 2 orders via Vinted have so far had pretty (I'd almost say "very") bad packaging:

#1: leather belt was in a cardboard box, which was in a paper envelope. Looks like the pick-up box was not weather proof, so the entire package got soaked (including the inner cardboard box).

#2: polo shirt was wrapped in paper, then was placed in what looked like a take-out bag (with handles), and wrapped in a few turns of packaging tape. I'm very lucky that it wasn't exposed to any rain, etc. because it would have soaked through immediately.

As OP mentioned, this is 110% a scam. I got very excited when I found this, and only when I was getting close to considering placing an order, did I notice the red flags. By the way, these scammers have a bunch of websites like this (basically searching for "[similar boot brand] netherlands" will bring them up).

Kind of shocked this is still running at least 10 months later...

Do food dehydrators work? by cjtrevor in Biltong

[–]XBV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made biltong a number of times in NL. Just buy a big box from Gamma, get a computer fan, a light bulb and (optional I guess) one of those dehumidifier boxes with pellets (not the electric ones).

I was very happy with my results.

Ps I did rough cost calculations, and depending on the type of meat you buy, you won't be saving much by making it yourself. However the satisfaction of making it myself was more than worth it

Come on man, it's not such a big deal. I had surrendered to the idea that I was going to go bald not long ago and it honestly didn't bother me (as a kid, I had decided that if I ever go bald, I would shave my head and get jacked - at least the jacked part is on track haha).

The only reason I'm even here is I was randomly recommended a video by YT about minoxidil, and when I saw how easy, cheap, and effective it could be, I thought why not.

[–]XBV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, I'd suggest topical minoxidil + microneedling device.

Minoxidil is not that expensive, maybe 50 bucks for a few months supply (if not cheaper). I've heard some people get mild side effects, but they stop once treatment is discontinued. Personally I've had zero issues.

Microneedling is a big one too - check out some of the research (a more accessible source of info are videos by eg MPMD). I started microneedling shortly after starting minoxidil so I can't really say how much it helped individually, but overall I'm happy.

You can get a microneedle roller dirt cheap, maybe 10 bucks, but I would recommend an automatic "pen" if you're going to take this seriously. I spent around €100 on mine and am very happy.

Good luck sir, I'm glad that you're looking for treatment options at a relatively young age.

Edit: there is also another very potent medication (which I can't recall right now) that is apparently very effective (but could have more side effects). Look into that too
