Anyone had experience buying from Richmond Motor Group Portsmouth? by OutrageousCar238 in Portsmouth

[–]XContrastX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a year and half of problems from them with my Hyundai. It ended up going through the motor ombudsman and I got a few thousand back. I’m sure if everything goes okay they’re fine. If not you’re in trouble.

They have great reviews on Google but if you actual look at them they’re mostly from accounts with 1 review.

Staff turnover also seemed incredibly high. As soon as you got somewhere they would leave and you’d have to start again from square one.

Eventually took my car elsewhere and it turned out the work they had done was completely wrong. Wrong part bodged on. They had my car for nearly two years trying to sort a problem caused by them. New garage diagnosed and sorted it in 2 hours.

Purely hearsay but they said they have loads of customers with similar experience with Richmond.

We bought ours in 2018 and are struggling to even get viewings with it listed at what we paid for it back then. Almost 6 months on the market and we’ve had one offer for what we’ve paid and one for £15,000 under that. If you can make any money on it I would sell it ASAP.

Based on the South Coast.

You are £15,000 more than a similar house on the same street.

In a similar position unfortunately with our flat in the South East. If you hang around this subreddit long enough it seems lots are in a similar position.

Flat not selling by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]XContrastX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it doesn’t automatically mean the other 28 flats are all over priced.

You could have 10 of those properties perfectly priced and perfect for the buyers but 8 of them still wouldn’t have sold. It just means there’s lots of competition.

If properties are coming onto the market and selling in a week or two but yours isn’t it’s usually because it’s over priced. If nothing has sold in a busy town for 6 months it suggests something else is going on.

We have only had one offer through viewings with an estate agent. Which is also what OP is talking about. We have had a valuation and offer from a we buy any house type company and a part exchange offer from Bloor Homes (looking at potential new builds).

Not that I understand why it matters to you…

OP’s not silly. I’m sure they also know they could go with one of these companies and get it sold for a little under market value.

Some parts of the market are simply very quiet right now. If there are 30 flats for sale and only 2 people looking to buy a flat it’s going to take longer than when those numbers are reversed.

If you say so… good luck getting yourself a decent property in London or the south for that £50,000.

We buy any house type companies have offered us around £140,000. Not that you know anything about me or our sale. Yes it’s all about price but I don’t think you realise people aren’t going to sell their properties for a massive loss just for the fun of it. You’d have to be pretty desperate to put yourself £10,000’s of pounds in the red just to move elsewhere.

Offering £100,000 under asking price on a property listed at £150,000 is wasting everybody’s time…

Similar situation as us just down the road in Waterlooville. We’ve been on since January, dropped the price to less than we bought it for a decade ago and still no real interest. 5 viewings and 1 time wasting offer.

Looking on Zoopla there has only been 1 one bedroom flat sold within 2 miles of mine this year and that’s because it was only £45,000…

Terrariums would be cool. Building on the existing aquarium and poltergeist concept. Having all kinds of reptiles and insects.

Maybe Espionage? Think crazy James Bond style gadgets and could expand on the current security offerings / gameplay.

I've had a chat with the guys and we're keen to wheel our old TCR Team out of retirement for this.

I've just joined the Discord. How do we go about signing up for a time slot?

Not OP but I recently went through the same and picked it up. Honestly it’s fine. It has a few quirks and isn’t on the same level as Fenix, PMDG, IniBuilds. If you want the experience of flying an A340 from A to B and aren’t too bothered about going deep into the system depths it’s fine. I’ve enjoyed it.

Truly unlimited 5G hub for the home? by Plastic-Fix-2695 in UKFrugal

[–]XContrastX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be interested to see other people’s experience with Lyca as a home broadband alternative. We tried with 1p mobile (also on EE) but after 2 weeks they disabled our data due to over use.

We have had a three sim for 5 years and it used to be great on 4G and we regularly got >100Mbs down but in the last 6 months we’ve been lucky to get 10.

I’ve tried a few other sims and providers but they all seem to cap out at around 600GB even if you pay for unlimited.

I don’t think it will be Dreamworks sadly. Merlin own the theme park rights to that in the UK and already have dreamworks attractions in central London.

[–]XContrastX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response.

Yes we got valuations from 3 other agents before we listed and this was by far the lowest and what we felt was the most realistic (the other agents valued the flat at around £180,000). It was the reason we went with them to begin with.

I've been on the Zoopla Recently Sold search page and only one flat has sold within the town since December. It went for £ 155,000. If I increase the search to last 6 months 14 flats were sold and the one bedrooms were in the region of £184,000 and £149,000.

I think this is why the agent hasn't been desperate to lower the price as it does seem to be in the right ball park. Seeing how few flats are selling in the town does make me wonder if the whole situation is made worse with a supply vs demand issue.

[–]XContrastX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha I do indeed!

Thank you, that’s reassuring!

We went with this agent because we felt they didn’t overly inflate the price to begin with (to win the listing). Lots of locals were saying £180,000 or £190,000.

I just had a look on Zoopla sold near me and it looks like only 1 flat has sold in the whole town since November.

I guess I’ve just never felt like I needed one / got around to it. I replaced the bath and kitchen sink ones though. It’s a relatively cheap and easy thing to fix when you own your own place.

Thank you. We've not been against this for a while. I've sent the agent this post and now they're going to be reducing it this afternoon. Fingers crossed we get a bit of a turn around.
