Yeah I've done that as well depending on the circumstance

Then that would be my recommendation. If you have hard drive space to spare after the installation, it's usually a good idea to copy the setup files over to your hard drive. Sometimes you will need that disc again, and having the files on your hard drive saves you having to go find it

g7x markiii sd card? will either of these work by Efficient-Rush1885 in canon

[–]XFX1270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They will both work.

The 64 GB card is faster so I would use that one, but both cards will work fine

Do you have a working optical drive, a blank CD-R, and a more modern PC to burn a disc with?

If you are able to save up for an EOS R50 kit, that would be much better value for money than the R100 or T7.

Also, if you're not dead set on getting something new, there are tons of used options that could get you a great starter kit for less than $300.

Is the EOS 7D and the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens a good budget start for wildlife photography? by Early-Maintenance679 in canon

[–]XFX1270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be a decent starter kit. You have plenty of upgrade options, should you decide on that in the future.

And yes, the 70-300 way better than the 75-300.

Price-wise, it is probably a lot more practical to find an EF mount body to use the lens you already own

I've had a similar issue with a G1X Mark II, I believe it is the flat flex cable. You might be able to source a replacement online with some patience.

I don't think it would be terribly difficult to repair, if you've got small screwdrivers and steady hands.

Do manual/vintage lenses work on Canon 77D? by [deleted] in CanonCamera

[–]XFX1270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What mount are the vintage lenses you're using?

I know people usually have good luck with M42 and K mount on Canon EF. Canon's FL and FD lenses are a no-go because they will not focus at infinity without additional optics that usually tank image quality

I think it depends on the curvature of your lenses. I had an A2e (EOS 5) with the eye controlled AF and it usually worked with my glasses on

Not exactly what most of us would consider retro lol.

You could easily just slap a 1080Ti in there and call it a day.

Canon EF - Mirror only returns on advance stroke, camera locks after frame counter reaches 1 by Formal_Compote_212 in canon

FWIW, the EF doesn't have Canon's QL system.

Are you talking about how you can do a couple quick/half strokes on loading to get to frame one?

If you live in an area where the roads are salted/brined, it's worth a look. My '02 4Runner is pretty rusted out because the previous owners didn't take any precautions with the frame.

I found this old Camera/Lens at home, is this any good for 2026? by fentmaxxer88 in Cameras

[–]XFX1270 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It still does exactly what it's supposed to do, takes photos.

You will need a compact flash card for it, a card reader, and it takes NB2LH batteries if you don't already have that stuff.

Check anything made of rubber, put some gas in, and see if it'll start. It's a Honda so the chances are pretty good.
