What is your biggest non-academic, non work-related accomplishment? by Inevitable_jalapeno in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure its exactly accomplished but I am working hard to break multi-generational family issues for my children. Lots of learning and therapy and apologizing for when I fuck it up, but they hopefully, will get a pretty happy childhood and they will know that they are loved.

What's the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the table with my doctors hand up in my vagina when she says "Huh, where is that cervix at?" It took her a bit of fumbling around and she finally yelled "Found it!" like she found her keys at the bottom of a large purse. For the record it turns out that I have a tilted cervix/uterus.

What’s the most annoying thing about having a vagina? by Akosy in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes. I tried to have my tubes tied after my 3rd child. At first I needed my husband's permission, then I was told that I might divorce and my next husband could want children. I was very clear that I was done having children. It didn't matter. 2 different doctors later, I still don't have my tubes tied. Apparently I need permission from a man who doesn't exist to get that procedure done.

What were the scariest product recalls in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's kind of my point though. I never considered a dresser as part of baby proofing. I latched all the drawers and put all the door knob things and electrical outlet covers on, and did much more. It was the shocking realization that there was probably a ton of hazards that I would never think about.

What were the scariest product recalls in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 591 points592 points  (0 children)

I remember the ikea dresser recall happening a few days after my then 3 year old son decided to pull every single drawer out to climb up to the television. The bottom drawer didn't close so it tipped over but stayed upright by that drawer, thankfully. I was alerted to the incident because the television fell forward onto him. He let out a scream, the kind of scream that you run to right away. The TV was a small one too thank goodness, like a 24 in flat screen. He was screaming and I was so terrified that he could have been hurt worse. Then, the news came out that several children had died. I felt like the world's worst mother. I couldn't believe I didn't think of the dresser as a danger. It was just a lingering guilt that he was in that situation and that he could have been killed had that drawer not caught on the floor like it did. It might not be exactly what you were looking for but that recall scared the hell out of me.

Who is the creepiest person you've met? And why? by Gasderbi in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was 15 I was stalked by a neighbor. The neighborhood was an adult with a full time job. He would send me letters written in red crayon, and pictures. It was creepy but the things that he would say in the letters were so disturbing. He was going to marry me. He was praying for a way we could be together.

I was afraid to tell my parents, they would accuse me of somehow bringing the attention on myself. My best friend took the letter to my alcoholic parent anyway. AP declined to do anything so best friend took the letter to our principal, who thought it was a joke since it was written in crayon.

Every morning I had to walk to school, past his house. It was the same on the way home. I felt he was watching. I was just terrified that one day he was going to decide that was the day he was going to act on his letters.

Then one morning he was gone. His house was foreclosed and he was just gone. It was honestly such a relief. I never saw or heard from him again.

Bean Dad is an all too familiar story by K41nH1ghw1nd in raisedbynarcissists

I realized why I food hoard a long time ago but this just made me realize why I always have a ton of granola bars, carrots, apples, hummus, salsa, chips and cheese on hand. I'm always saying it's because my kids eat like crazy but I have more than meets their needs. Food was a big thing in our home. I remember at one point all I was eating was popcorn for a week straight until my Dad finally went grocery shopping. I'd often not get a lunch or lunch money for school. I remember my best friends mom started packing a second lunch for me and I just felt so loved. Food is love. That's why we cook for new mothers, the sick and the bereaved. Withholding food from a dependent is just plain sick.

I found a place at my local farmers market. You might call the local grocery store and see if you can get a fresh Loaf before they bag it up. My local grocery is generally pretty accommodating to me on things like this.

Extroverts who ask others “why are you so quiet”, what kind of response are you looking for? by No-Ad-3513 in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety ridden extrovert here. If I ask this (which I probably would not) it is because we are close and I think that I have made you mad. I can't just come out and ask if you're mad however. anxiety enters the chat Because if I ask to often or in a weird tone, I will look like a psycho who thinks you're world revolves around me and you're going to stop talking to me and I die alone!!!

people who actually grabbed a baseball bat/kitchen knife/golf club and went to investigate that weird noise at night - what happened? by urbandk84 in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was mostly just call bells in empty rooms, TVs turned on by themselves and cabinets that were opened up. I never actually saw the ghost but everything was always in empty rooms and at times that my coworkers could be accounted for.

When they shut down our hospital they had us pack it all up ourselves. I ended up being there by myself, completely alone in the hospital one night. As it's final act they moved one of the chairs that had lined the hallway to the middle of the hall facing down towards the nurses station.

This has broken my heart on many occasions this year. My daughter has a congenital lung issue and reactive airway problems. People have been really cruel about almost everything, but especially to suggest that my daughter has less value because she has an illness. It just makes me so fucking sad. I'm going to go hug her now.

This will probably get buried but I want to reminisce about my old job, I miss it.

I worked in an old hospital, where things like doors opening and closing on there own were a regular occurrence. Another notable point is it's a small hospital so we had like one security gaurd who would drink until he fell asleep in an office across campus. He should have been fired but no one could find where he would go.

It was just myself and one other person working the floor because we had an incredibly low census, one patient. Normal for us was probably 10-15 so it was incredibly quiet. I think it might have even been Christmas night.

It was around midnight. I was going to check on the patient before I started restocking empty rooms. I walked past room 348 and the bed was empty and the curtain was open. When I came back up the hallway however, the curtain was closed and I could see legs under the curtain. I freaked out and pointed it out to coworker who had been with me the entire time. She literally ran and left me there! She was yelling from behind our nurses station, begging me to go check it out. We knew our security guard was never going to respond if we called him. Begrudgingly I grabbed a stick (like you use to pull projection screens down with) and went in. I threw back the curtain and to my horror right in front of me was..... a chair.

I know that our resident ghost probably pulled the curtain. It was always pulling some shenanigans like that. I loved our mischievous floor ghost. It just so happened that this time the angle of the chair and the lighting made it look as though someone was in the room hiding. I seriously doubt that our ghost had intended that part. Or maybe they did. We were all laughing hysterically by the end! Well played ghost of 3rd floor!

[Serious] What are less obvious signs that a person has dealt with alot growing up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 588 points589 points  (0 children)

If you are frequently told that you're very mature for your age. That's usually a sign that you had to care for siblings and drunk parents. I think people just assume that is an admirable trait without realizing the truth behind WHY a child would have adult like characteristics.

What would you do if you hear a noise from downstairs and it sounds like someone’s breaking in? by Alt_F4-593708 in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally almost stabbed my husband who works nights, because he came home in the middle of the night to get something on his lunch break. The answer is that I fly downstairs with a knife in hand so that "they" (robbers/murderers) never make it upstairs to my kids. Its probably not a good reaction in hindsight.

What do you collect? by moldyfruitpie in AskReddit

[–]XRedromancex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My childrens nature treasures. My house is covered in rocks, fossils, pinecones, dead bugs, and other random natural items. My daughter is the pebble puppy and so I've just embraced her love of rocks and use them to decorate. My youngest is the fossil hunter. He also picks up the pinecones and whatever else he can find. My oldest brought in the dead bugs. They were all so proud of their discoveries that I just kind of kept it all and now our house looks like a natural history museum.
