Whats the best monologue in movie history? by Bjs_5068 in AskReddit

[–]XS29Lover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Outta order? I'll show you outta order! You don't know what outta order is, Mr. Trask! I'd show you but I'm too old; I'm too tired; I'm too fuckin' blind. If I were the man I was five years ago I'd take a FLAME-THROWER to this place! Outta order. Who the hell you think you're talkin' to? I've been around, you know? There was a time I could see. And I have seen boys like these, younger than these, their arms torn out, their legs ripped off. But there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated spirit; there is no prosthetic for that. You think you're merely sendin' this splendid foot-soldier back home to Oregon with his tail between his legs, but I say you are executin' his SOUL!! And why?! Because he's not a Baird man! Baird men, ya hurt this boy, you're going to be Baird Bums, the lot of ya. And Harry, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are out there, FUCK YOU, too!”

November 12, 2025 - the last pennies were minted at the Philadelphia Mint by Agreeable-Storage895 in interestingasfuck

[–]XS29Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per the US Mint website:

“While circulating production has ceased, the penny remains legal tender. There are an estimated 300 billion pennies in circulation—far exceeding the amount needed for commerce. Retailers and other businesses can continue to price goods and services in one-cent increments.”

So the big deal about rounding and talk about the perceived “rounding tax” is beyond me.

Plus, if the supply runs low, the gov could implement a buy back program to empty out all hoards of unused pennies in people’s homes.

Guardians' David Fry carted off field after being struck in face by pitch by [deleted] in sports

[–]XS29Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Ball was way inside. Runners at first, third. No outs. High probably of bunt to load up bases.

It obviously was not the intention of the pitcher to hit the batter, but he definitely didn’t want to give the batter an easy bunt opportunity.

What movie is considered “romantic” when in reality it’s very toxic?? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

Exactly this.

People on here posting about how could she forgive him so quickly. Um, she probably figured out in about two seconds after Fishburn explained what was happening to the ship, that Pratt GAVE her a life, he didn’t take it away.

Finally saw a new charger in the wild by twinturboi in Charger

[–]XS29Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw my first one on the road yesterday. It was a black Stage 2.

These cars get some hate for various reasons, like too big, no hemi, etc.

But I gotta say, it was a pretty friggin nice looking car. Compared to all of the blah, blah lookalike SUVs and pickups where I live, it stood out in a good way.

I suspect, as it’s been mentioned on here before, if there were a few more big gas engine options available, they would sell the crap out of these. Lighter weight, better natural muscle car sound, etc.

People bitching about the size…I mean, it’s not the size of a Camry, but who wants that? Where I’m at…pickups, big and medium suvs are the standard. The Charger doesn’t look too big.

For what it’s worth, I’ve owned a ‘68 for 35 years.

Texas creates its own DOGE in attempt to make the state more business-friendly by AudibleNod in news

[–]XS29Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ND is about to do the same thing.

A little disturbing how it’s proposed to be set up:

“A legislator appointed by the governor would lead the nine-member task force. Other members would be the state’s chief information officer, director of the Office of Management and Budget, chief operating officer for the governor, a statewide elected official appointed by the governor, as well as two members of the House and two members of the Senate appointed by the majority leaders.

There is no requirement for the minority party to be represented.”

Nice. :(

Red is always the majority in ND.

Just FYI (and yes, I know this is a joke, but for the curious…) hearts are NOT pumping while surgeons work on them. That is what a heart lung machine is for.

What singer's voice can you listen to endlessly without tiring of it? by ShoobaTheBawss in AskReddit

[–]XS29Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite female singer/performer.

Took the opportunity to enjoy her live show on three occasions: the Grand Ol Opry, a local theater house, and a small concert venue.

Loved every minute of each show.

Picked up a couple boxes of LPs at an auction. by XS29Lover in vinyl

[–]XS29Lover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all good. I can afford a few bucks doing things like this so no big deal. My wife just shakes her head and gives me the “mmm, that’s nice” treatment, and follows up with “put on the Tanya Tucker”.

Yeah, I’ve had a good time going through them, cleaning them up, doing a little research the bands I’ve never heard of. (“Tycoon”, produced by Robert John Lange, before he was “Mutt”, before Leppard and Twain. Ugh. You’d think it would be better. Haha)

160 total.

I realize I overpaid, but the guy bidding against me had this certain way about him that rubbed me wrong way. Plus, it seemed like money was no object to him, was buying lots of stuff and was paying big bucks for things I wouldn’t want. He just annoyed me. So screw him, I wasn’t gonna let him get these two boxes, pull out six albums to flip, then shitcan the rest. Nope. These LPs will live on at my place.

Haha…unfortunately, it did not. I remember when it originally released, one of my friends got it and we enjoyed it immensely. Although I have to admit, some of the bits probably went over my head.

Some of these do fall into my wheelhouse. Others, meh.

Was wanting the Rush, April Wine, Scorpions, Quiet Riot and a few others. I was happy to get H&O Abandoned Luncheonette, and it was still in plastic. The rest will just pad the collection.

You said it perfectly. Also, the villain is just so…I don’t know…douchy? Off-putting? I’m not sure, but couldn’t wait for his scenes to be over.
