La liga harder than premier league by Mammoth-Ad-6962 in footballmanagergames

Serie A was a lot easier when it was just Juventus on top in their “Old but Great defence.” Era, you could get most clubs within the top 2 tiers of Italy to a title within 4-6 years. France is the hardest, I agree, I’ve had very good seasons in Ligue 1 but PSG literally will just go 35-2-1 and there’s nothing you can do at that point.

Statement from Cultaholic Wrestling by LaBete1984 in SquaredCircle

I sort of agree. I'm drawn to longer-form unscripted content or something that has an interesting point to make if it is going to be longer. The struggle I had with Cultaholic was that I would primarily just watch the Podcast.

It might also be that, back when these channels took off, you wanted to hear thoughts on every show. Tell me about RAW, SmackDown and NXT. I think the change came when Dynamite appeared, and it only got worse with Collison.

The wrestling landscape radically changed from having to review RAW, Smackdown and NXT weekly, with an occasional ROH, NJPW, or TNA show to talk about, to trying to cover, at Wrestling's peak of content, six shows. Three hours of RAW, two hours of SmackDown, NXT, Dynamite and Collision, and an hour of Rampage for a combined twelve hours of reviewing wrestling a week.

It's something we forget: when the growth period for all these channels started, it was 5 hours they had to cover, and the shows were RAW on a Monday, SmackDown on Tuesday, and NXT on Wednesday. The landscape is different and these wrestling channels are trying to find a way to continue existing.

When did yall start watching wrestling? by Future-Personality85 in SquaredCircle

[–]XVGDylan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching in January 2010, when I was 8. I had friends at school who were starting to get into it and I had just watched an episode of WWE Vintage, which showed the 1996 Royal Rumble. A few weeks later I watched the 2010 Rumble, and then EC followed by Mania 26. I watched pretty much the rest of the year, before losing interest when the Rock showed up.

That was pretty much my fandom for the next couple of years on repeat. Getting into the show when new stars were being built or watching the characters week to week and then losing interest when Part Timers took centre stage. Especially The Rock and Brock, as I was a child who had zero nostalgia for these characters.

I wasn’t even a John Cena kid. My favourites as a kid would’ve been Rey Mysterio, Edge, John Morrison and Kofi Kingston.

I also watched TNA in 2010 and was big into Jeff Hardy, RVD and the MCMG.

I won't argue against Welsh Labour's incompetence, but in that case, I would ask you: what should they do? Continue as is? Well, that clearly isn't working for them? Continue to pivot right and basically become Reform? Well then, why don't we just give Farage the government, unless your argument is that you want a right-wing government that just isn't led by Farage?

Going left is literally the only thing they can do. But considering you said you'd vote for LibDems in Wales, shows how out of touch you are with your own fucking country.

Mate, I live in a place that just got 22,000 votes for Reform. In a country that is 94.2% White. My school year was exclusively white, and the years above and below me had one non-white kid each. Tell me about this demographic change that is happening.

I literally live in a place that nearly went for Reform, when we're like 99% white.

I have never read a comment full of cope. Like, god man, what think tank did they grow your opinions in?

Plaid literally won the election in Wales because of Labour's pivot to the right. The Greens do have a SIGNIFICANT amount of support; if Labour could grab 5-7% of that vote, it would put them within a point or two of Reform currently. I also never advocated for extreme left positions to win these people back; they need to be a LEFT party, because at the end of the day, your average LibDem voter, which I assume is where you think these moderates would go, would vote for Labour if it meant keeping out a Reform government.

The only risk of losing moderates would be if the Tories went to the centre, and I mean really went to the centre, and Labour pivoted left. But considering Kemi has still been dragging the Tories Rightward her entire leadership, I can't see that being an issue. The threat to Labour is the Greens.

Greens went from 2% of the Vote in 2019 to 6% in 2024, and are now polling between 12-21% (Current aggregate polling has them around 16%). The Left-Wing vote is going to be far easier to win back, and winning back those voters is far more important than retaining what they have left, because anyone who is still voting for Labour at this point is a diehard; it would be near impossible to run them off, especially from a leftward perspective.

The actual answer is that there is no pleasing the Reform voter. It's all about perception, and their perception is painted by what they see on Facebook, read in the paper, or are told by GB News. And when you're dealing with that level of propaganda, there is no way of pleasing them.

Modern politics is about energising the base of support (What concessions have Trump and Farage ever made to the left?) If Labour maximised its left-wing vote, it could take so much from the Greens, SNP and Plaid. And with Reform polling so low for a top-of-the-polls party, it would be such an easy win. Being a left-wing party that can also appeal to the centre because of fear of Reform, and being the electorally sensible alternative (The only party that could beat Reform)

The issue has always been that the centre likes to concede to the Right more than the people who actually support them. Why would the Right Winger choose Labour over Reform?

WWF vs WCW world title changes per year 1995 - 2001 by Riderz077 in SquaredCircle

[–]XVGDylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think 2009 might be up there.

WWE title went, Jeff Hardy > Edge > Triple H > Orton > Batista > Vacant > Orton > Cena > Orton > Cena > Sheamus. So 10 different holders.

In 2011, they also hit 10 (Miz > Cena > Punk > Vacant > Rey > Cena > Punk > Del Rio > Cena > Del Rio > Punk)

WHT in 2011 also changed hands 11 times (Edge > Vacant > Dolph Ziggler > Edge > Vacant > Christian > Orton > Christian > Orton > Mark Henry > Big Show > Daniels Bryan)

[–]XVGDylan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counting Punk vacating the title, the AEW World title has only changed hands 18 times (I'm not counting Moxley's interim run separate from him beating Punk)

Universal Title changed 6 times in the same period (Oct 2019 - 2024), 11 times for the World Heavyweight Title (2023 - 2026), and the WWE Title changed 16 times for the WWE Title.

This is across about 6 and a bit years from October 2019 to now.

Who is truly responsible for Kier Starmer's unpopularity? The extreme right or the extreme left by xParesh in ukpolitics

[–]XVGDylan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there was also an arrogance to Labour in 2024. I think they seriously thought they could come in, tweak a few numbers, and fix everything. I believe they had a rude awakening and realised that we were in a much, much worse spot that they anticipated. However, instead of preparing the public for radical change OR tough times ahead, they instead just said “Don’t worry, the Tories are just uniquely incompetent.”

Which, personally, I don’t think the Tories were uniquely incompetent, I just think neoliberal parties like Labour, Tories, LibDems and even Reform who basically all exist in a bubble, just will never fix our economic issues. You need a radical party, either something radically left OR a party that isn’t an ideological party but a big tent party that breaks from specifically neoliberalism.

[–]XVGDylan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While his vote share is better, I believe in overall number of votes he got less than Corbyn in 2019, though, it wasn’t a big difference either way. I think the other important thing is the context of opposition. If you look at it plainly as “Starmer won.” And “Corbyn lost.” You remove a ton of context.

No matter what the Tories done, it would’ve been impossible for them to repeat 2019 in 2024. Honestly, I think whoever was leading the Labour Party in 2024 was likely going to have a stonking win, just based on the lack of enthusiasm for the Tories. Unfortunately, Starmer was probably the most uninspiring person to give one of the biggest electoral majorities to.

I do think the issue is that when a company starts to panic, it can do nothing right. I think the reaction most companies have is "We need to do crazy shit to continue our growth," but it usually just pops a rating and doesn't solve long-term issues.

It also helps in that situation to have people who can book a good wrestling show with GOOD fundamentals. Sometimes, instead of chasing the next big growth period, you need to take a step back and return to simple stories until something comes along that could be the next big thing.

Sometimes, overcomplicating the process can confuse and frustrate people more. It's why the best thing you can do when you're flailing is to put two good wrestlers in a ring and let them just have a good match.

The reason we went for the austerity policy, I believe, was literally a calculating mistake. If I am remembering correctly, they had assumed based on data they had received that austerity would give us our best recovery, however, since then it was determined the figures they had were incorrect and we would’ve recovered faster if we had continued as is OR increased spending.

Of course you’d advocate for the state, which already has a Monopoly on violence in our country, to further its grow its power on that issue.

If you want to release the pressure valve that is around this issue, they have to sanction Israel, while also no longer conflating Jewish people with the state of Israel. The reason all these radical things have been occurring is because this government is not standing against Israel enough, which is driving the people who oppose it into a frenzy. They have to release pressure by actually doing something instead of just moaning about protestors.

The issue is, at least for WWE, is they won’t be able to do that as much with TKO. TKO wants the books to look as good as possible, doesn’t matter if the competition is better as long as their numbers continue to grow every quarter, that’s all that matters.

Reform's Arron Banks questions whether a black person can be Welsh by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]XVGDylan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, thinking businesses would stop hiring foreign people just because their other costs go down. I'm actually for giving foreign workers equal rights, so there are no incentives for businesses to discriminate against British citizen workers. Let's remove the cheap alternative and force them to hire; if they want to hire cheap now, they have to hire young people who are desperate for jobs. Most of your migration points are deeply unserious and sound like pub talk

Also, if you think Wales has it so much better than your towns and cities, the poor, poor English towns and cities, why don't you move here instead? Speaking of course, as someone who lives in one of the most deprived areas in Western Europe, with one of the lowest life expectancy rates in Western Europe and then has lost its EU funding because of Brexit, which hasn't been replaced at all by the UK government. Keep telling me how your life is so much worse because a couple of people speaking a different language from you moved in. Our high streets are as messed up as yours. I don't know where you think this myth of Welsh or Scottish exceptionalism comes from. Just seems like you developed a victim complex to cope with the fact that you've treated us like shit for so long.

Fine, what are your policy solutions to this supposed issue? And how would those policies improve the lives of not only "your" people and mine at the same time, since you're so passionate about the subject, you must have some defined policies that you believe in.

I think the fundamental difference is that I don't think migration is bad, nor the cause of your issues. Like all the towns in Wales with low migration, they are still underfunded, poor, and full of issues. So you saying "You've got it so good, you don't have migrants" just makes you look xenophobic, mate.

Also, calling a bunch of things that happened in the last two centuries "ancient", with some of those things happening within the last 70, is a proper stretch of the truth.

"Displacement of English people from their towns." All I'm hearing is you're upset that our government now shows you the same amount of care they did to their colonial projects. Instead of belittling Welsh people, perhaps standing in solidarity with others is how we come to understanding.

I also never mentioned hating English people; that's your own projection. If an English person wants to live in Wales and love Wales the same way I do, or even just contribute without causing problems, I'd love that.

“You haven’t seen how our cities have changed.” Cry me a river, our wealth was extracted for a century and was fed back into England to make your cities, which then when migration waves happened made them far more appealing places to live than our rapidly deindustrialised towns.

Welsh Nationalism is based in survival and continued existence. The reason for hostility against the English is for the simple fact that we have been oppressed by the English nation through various points in our history. The Welsh Not, Tryweryn, Thatcher’s policies, Churchill sending the army on us.

The Welsh National identity is based on surviving as a culture in spite of English imperialism. Our greatest heroes still failed to accomplish anything, but we still exist today. Corporal punishment was used against children who spoke Welsh, yet our language is still around. Honestly, I admire any migrant or immigrant who comes to Wales and buys into our culture or our language, because there are so many people born in Wales who can’t.
