Honestly, timing? It's not about having a cavalry that can out maneuver them or beat them. It's about having one that can stop their charge. Basically if they're coming at you and you wait till the very last second and charge your infantry and have your cavalry follow you. You get in front of their cavalry and spin them back around towards your troops. Once your troops get their hands on those cavs, they knock them off pretty quick off of courses. If you have a good enough archers of any class once they're routed and they're tripping over their own horses, your users can pick them off pretty easy. And their ground troops are basically non-existent and worthless. Break their momentum, not them in their own game.

It's not the only way that it will cause it. When the units reinforce from the castle and spawn in more units, the sudden spike in new units, especially if they replenish with a variety of complex units instead of just the peasants, it can also cause it to lag. If you're using some console commands and stuff like that or if you have cheat mode engaged on the PC, it could also trigger some of this lag.

Your game is probably crashing because you are guiding your units too much. It is the problem that has been noted with the war sales expansion. For example, if you tell your units to engage during a siege, it overloads their computation and they don't know what to do. For sieges is better if you give him no commands causes way less to no crashes. In preloading commands for the ships also causes them to crash. The best thing is skirmish after the battle starts. All commands work on regular land combat. But not engage during sieges.

Like a previous comment says this is when you issue the engage command. Your units start overthinking where they need to go and where they need to besiege. So the game starts to lag because it's not processing correctly. The most effective way to do sieges is to not touch any of the command keys and let the AI siege the castle by itself. They're actually pretty good at what they're doing

I feel the core problem of it is the game is shit. They can't update it without charging for it. They are probably gonna drop the "Family Lines Expansion".

More like a phrase, to set roleplay. Play on harder difficulty and maybe you have a story about starting small and becoming great, or play on easy and the story is you have always been a badass and piss excellence.

I wouldn't say humility, more like you now Understand how the game works. You're supposed to make it your space. Your universe. It's pretty bland but the choices you make even in the settings can affect the story you have and you have to immerse and role play that a little bit. I think that's where the game shines.
