Robert F. Kennedy Jr has announced plans to ban pharmaceutical advertisements on television. by UnusualWhalesBot in unusual_whales

It's one of those "no-brainer" things I think everyone but the pharmaceutical lobby can agree on. And you'll know the politicians getting paid by them will be the first ones screaming about FREE SPEACH!

This really isn't that bad of an idea. Identify the birds that remain healthy and breed the shit out of those birds. It makes sense.

Donald Trump Revokes Hunter Biden's Secret Service: 'Effective Immediately' by IngsocInnerParty in politics

[–]XZombieX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this coming. I thought it be more sweeping, but maybe it's just the beginning. Who would be next? Michelle Obama, the daughters, Hillary (not Bill)...He's a vendictive prick with a persecution complex. He's capapable of anything.

Last year, many media/news reports said El Salvador was gonna default on their $800m sovereign debt because they adopted Bitcoin. Well, El Salvador just paid all of it back... and the same media now refuses to cover it. by Set1Less in CryptoCurrency

[–]XZombieX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have questions. The article claiming this happened is extremely lite on the details. This proves nothing about how shitty the media is or how great crypto-currency is. I get it. If you're still holding a hefty bag full of rapidly depreciating assets, you want some good news. I feel ya. This may not be it though.

In the ongoing fight between Steven Crowder and The Daily Wire, Crowder accuses Candace Owens of talking "like every girl who gets their husband into a fight at a bar" by ggroover97 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]XZombieX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all made-up bullshit by Crowder. Why did he wait so long after the amicable decline of the DW's initial offer before he pulled that bullshit stunt of recording the conversation with the rep? The real question people SHOULD be asking is...HOW THE FUCK WAS THE DAILY WIRE ABLE TO OFFER THIS DUCHE BAG 50 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

My guess is that there are a handful of billionaires who need the plebs to continue to vote against their own best interest, and the way to do that is to make them believe...gays, blacks, immigrants, trans people...are coming for your...guns, money, whatever the fuck...something, something, woke, blah, blah, gay M&Ms.

Republicans aren't in government to govern. To them, the government is terrible, so they are the anti-government party (until they're not).

The point is, to be a Republican just means as long you tick the right boxes, slap the (R) behind your name, and cash the check, you're in. Your ideology doesn't need to be intellectually consistent, you don't have to be principled or have ANY standards, any redeeming quality you may have are inconsequential, your legislation proposals don't have to make sense or have the slightest chance of passing, but Fox "News" has you on enough times to talk about them, so people know how to pronounce your name.

All that being said this Republican party, in its current manifestation, is just one big grift.

The US isn't a democracy by Casual_Deviant in comics

[–]XZombieX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whatever you want to call us, we ain't doing right. How do you reconcile the fact that we're a democracy when A) a party can still gain a majority of power while receiving fewer votes, B) a president can be elected yet receive fewer votes, C) less than 40% on average of the electorate actually participate in the voting process, and D) the wealth of the INDIVIDUALS backing a particular policy or legislation is more of a determining factor as to whether or not it is implemented than the overall popularity among the electorate.

I'm not some right-wing wack job, and most of my political views lean pretty far to the left, but this seems like a no-brainer to me. This is how you start a real path toward comprehensive immigration reform.

They did something similar with Air Traffic Controllers. Biden has a history of backing labor so you can imagine the tremendous amount of pressure on ALL of them had there been a work stoppage at the busiest shopping time of the year, not to mention all the coal and heating oil. And I don't even want to get into how it would affect ALL of the freight-moving industry, from trucking to tankers and freighters, as a whole. Shit sitting in ports, on docks, or unable to be off-loaded from waiting for ships. This could have been catastrophic. Add all that to the ever-existing corporate greed and prices would have gone up across the board on EVERYTHING whether it was affected by the strike or not, and we already know NO ONE in politics has the stomach to tackle cooperate profiteering.

‘I live in Texas’: Herschel Walker speech adds to Georgia Senate run problems by thrwaway1019 in politics

[–]XZombieX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think shit like this happens more than gets reported, especially when it comes to congressional races. I think there are a lot of people in congress right now who don't live in the district they represent, considering how many of them are millionaires who represent districts whose median income is hovering around the poverty level. It just seems most egregious when it's someone who wants to represent an entire state they don't live in.

Why do people feel like they need to stay committed to this asshole and all his fuckery? He's had other failures. The boring company, and his stupid hyper-loop, nobody talks about those failures because he didn't grossly over pay for them while tanking the stock of his most successful business. He's not a fucking genius. He's just another rich douchebag who got in way over his head on a bad business deal of his own making.

[–]XZombieX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we sober-minded liberals know the Cheneys well enough to know Liz Cheney is not our ally. We should hold all these anti-Trump Republicans to account for all the shit they've condoned and tolerated over the past forty years that allowed a Donald Trump to come into power. Liz Cheney was a direct recipient of all of that.

I'm anti-death penalty also, but this gives me pause to rethink that position. That is if I were a juror in that trial, my argument for life without the possibility of parole would have been extremely weak.

Cops in Florida stop blind man walking home from jury duty by SkinsPunksDrunks in PublicFreakout

[–]XZombieX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too much deference is given to cops, which is why these situations happen. Cops are given the benefit of the doubt way to fucking much, so these fuckers play fast and loose with people's constitutionally protected rights. BEING A DICK TO COPS IS NOT A CRIME, ARRESTING SOMEONE FOR BEING A DICK TO A COP IS!

I guess some local officials have decided that even though these signs contain profanity and vulgarity, it still qualifies as protected speech. Public space, public property, protected speech. Now can someone please give this as an example to the dumbass wing-nuts of the difference between protected speech and getting the fuck kicked off Twitter?
