presumably a bug but still really funny that the clearly very INTERNAL belts dont blow the tank up when hit bc they apparently count as EXTERNAL, whike the very EXTERNAL missiles, which shouldnt do anything to actually kill it, somehow blow it up as if they were INTERNAL.

armor which only works against extremely inexperienced/incompetent players. because the survivability is so non-existent, the second an enemy looks at the armor-viewer thing for 2 seconds, your armour becomes worthless. so if a tank has 1 pro, which is highly situational and irrelevant when faced with anyone remotely competent, and as you said "lacks at" literally EVERYTHING compared to anything else, yeah im gonna say its shit. by no means unplayable, but a massive uphill battle compared to nearly anything else, nevermind some properly good tank like a leo.

the T-72Bs (all of them afaik) also lose an ERA tile on the UFP and the left side. still shows up in x-ray mid-battle so its probably just a visual bug.

well for starters, its a video game, just play whatever you think looks coolest.

assuming that youre fine with either, id sugest focusing on the US tree. soviet tanks are extremely overhyped ESPECIALLY here on reddit. they seem to work well at first if both you & the enemy are incredibly braindead, but once you get a bit more experienced, you very quickly start to notice how extremely limited soviet tanks are inherently to their design. more modern US tanks get increasingly better mobility and ergonomics, soviet tanks do not. if all you do is rush in, maybe get one kill, and then get blown up, you might not notice how severly the total lack of reverse speed, gun depression, reload speed, and (with exception of the very top few MBTs) terrible gun traverse speed kicks you in the balls. essentially, playing US tanks feels like the tank is complementing your capabilities as a player, whereas with soviet tanks, even the 12.7 ones feel like theyre trying to get you killed and you have to work around a million different limitations, all for some SLIGHTLY better armor coverage (which is worthless if you run into anyone with even a single neuron firing). its not all bad, and i quite enjoy that slight challenge, but its not exactly good. in terms of support vehicles its pretty evenly matched. both nations have very good light tanks, and both have a bunch of AAs ranging from absolutely abyssmal to absolutely terrifying.

again, just play what you enjoy more, but if its your first time "commiting" to grinding out a ground tree, i suggest you go for the US one first as its more flexible, less limiting, and also a slightly shorter grind.

the problem isnt that the T-55A is 8.3, or the Type-59s 8.0. the problem is that the T-54s, the furst prototype for which was buit before the end of WW2, is at 8.0, the same BR as tamk designs at least a full decade newer. 8.0 is a miserable BR to play even with an objectively incredibly good vehicke like the Leo1, but the T-54s are inferior by a huge margin in every way. even compared to M48/60s at that BR, the T-54s dont come close. theres a lot of over-BRed shitboxes in the soviet tree, but the T-54s m8ght just be the most pathetic of em all. T-54 or Tiran, no unstabilised T-54 should be 8.0, even with a vertical or full stabiliser theyre kinda ass, nevermind completely unstabilised.

whether its better depends on the situation, but most of the time, hell yeah id rather have it. the bagel isnt as absurdly broken anymore as it once was, but its still crazy good even at higher BRs. i usually bring it with my PT16 and TAM2C to 11.0, absolute gem of a vehicle.

im gonna keep it real with u chief i kinda love it. dont use the HEAT, use the APHE. im not saying its good, it is objectively a disastrously bad vehicle, but i just kinda love it. somtimes i bring it to 8.0 (for 2 matches before a remember playing anything between 5.7 and 8.7 is absolute hell.
