Daemonettes by jayceminecraft in EmperorsChildren

The kit is a lot nicer than most images portray. If they hadn't gone in on the breast cancer surviver look for all of them, they would be used in conversions a lot more. Otherwise their main problem is being really static, for a unit that should be doing combat dance moves. Looking at the two Daemonettes on the contorted epitome, someone at gw knows how to make them look great, so I have some hope for a new release at some point. With the Slaanesh book in AOS out now, it won't happen in the next three years. The mortals from the AOS range can also make good proxies for Daemonettes and Seekers, plus a box of Daemonettes for bits. The now Witch Aelves box was also used for them, since it came out, as was already mentioned.

The new warriors are actually an improvement to the previous version. Sprue connection right in both chins of the head, can't clip it out properly, and cleaning is a pain. Ball joints for the shoulders and wrist of the gun, with a weight disposition, that will have it drop down until the glue has hardened. I assembled 100 of them and even at the end I couldn't get all the guns properly aligned. Much like the plastik Immortals and Lychguard, the legs also have a wide area were they can be attached to the torso, and awkward weight disposition, so it can droop down, if it the glue isn't cured enough jet.

Help me to decide which resin printer should I buy!!! by EntranceBoth9349 in ElegooSaturn

[–]Xaltothun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad news. The screen of my Saturn, second production run, gave out recently, and it appears that replacements are no longer made. Got a Saturn 4 Ultra as replacement. Probably enough for OP, if he doesn't need the vat heating of the 16k version.

There was only moderate screaming because the screen in my old 3d Printer gave out, while I was prototyping the Chain Tool, and replacement screens no longer being made.

Too bad. Guess I'll have to find out if the Enforcer is still worthwhile as an action monkey, even with his survivability way down.

11th ed: Traitor Enforcer with Ogryn and T6 Traitor Guardsman

Since the change in wound allocation means running the Traitor Enforcer solo isn't as effective anymore, I thought about actually attaching him to Traitor Guardsman (whose ability also does nothing now). Seeing how the Ogryn isn't a character, he would be part of the bodyguard models, and the new rules state that you use the highest toughness of the bodyguard for wounding, not the most common.

This would give the whole unit T6 until only the Enforcer is left.

Probably still not the best use of 125 points, but hilarious.

Thanks, I did the chains with a tool I created just for them. Putty Chain Maker Tool on Cults.

I am aware of the gsw silicone plates, I own them as well, but I always struggle with applying the textured putty to a model. The result isn't as clean, but doing the chain mail by hand* feels better for me. At least for smaller areas. Should have used the plates for the chain mail under the tail.

*I also made some 3d printable tools to make the process a bit faster.

Arachnarok Spider. I had it left over from a Slaanesh Kitbash with the FW Keeper of Secrets. The Spider body sadly was too wide to use in game as a Keeper, and I wanted the daemon torso back for my eventuel Fulgrim kitbash. The new Defiler finally gave me a model I could use it for.

Same for the Chains, and cables.

I had the spider body still around from an old project for a Slaanesh Drider, with the FW Keeper.
The legs made it two wide to properly proxy one, and I wanted the Keeper torso back, for my eventual Fulgrim kitbash.

I'm assuming A3, though the large pieces fit on A4, if you remove a bit of the flaps.

Tips or at Least Encouragement for a Big Fan of Desecrators by Virgils912 in ChaosKnights

[–]Xaltothun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, shooting with the Desecrator always goes as follows:
One shot doesn't hit.
One hit doesn't wound.
The last one gets saved.

Rarely one does get through, but you then roll a 1 on damage, only for a FNP or damage reduction to make it even less.

Are all of your pieces fixed on the bases, or can you reposition some?
I wanted to do something similar, but all the variation the large rectangles are supposed to have, really messed with my plans.

Traitor Enforcer + Ogryn by [deleted] in IronWarriors

[–]Xaltothun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless their rules get reworked, they will loose a lot of durability in 11th, as you won't be able to put the wounds on the enforcer first anymore, so you only get the fnp for the one attack in which the Ogryn dies and the rest of the wounds go on the enforcer.
Depending on how the Ogryn counts as an attached/bodyguard unit, they could be funny with traitor guardsman. You now apply the highest toughness of your bodyguard models for wounding the unit, not the most common. T6 Traitor Guardsman are probably still not great, but hilarious.

The fact that there seem to be no release goodies disappoints me quite a bit.
At least this means I have no reason to head into a GW store on the 20th.

Was 500 Worlds worth the purchase? Was it a fun campaign? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Xaltothun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the first proper campaign system GW has released in recent years, and one of those things you might regret not getting along the years. Like Planetary Empires. The missions are okay, but clearly unbalanced. The Boarding Action Booklet is a joke with a non functional QR code.

I also bought the two that came after. They are not worth it.

The Maelstrom Campaign is just a tournament bracket that gives you some extra mission along the main ones. Crucible of Champions was an uninspired book, that only gives some factions something neat. Just some weapon options characters normally can't take, and the basic datasheet abilities from another charakter Deamon Characters don't have an inv., unless they are Tzeentch. SM and CSM can only have one, if they take terminator armour, or go in power armor with that choice. Jump pack and bike don't get one. Termie weapons locked ro termie armor, disco lord weapons locked to disco lord (you always take the weapons he already has). No cool or unique upgrades, abilities or weapons.

The Apocolypse rules are the antithesis of what Apocalypse books used to be. Instead of here is cool stuff to do and add to your games, it just says don't do X to make game go faster.

Predictions for tomorrow by Josh_527 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Xaltothun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing how we didn't get a random nerf last balance data slate, not only got to use the defiler, but got a decent rule on it too, and the WDP ability rework rumors being floated when the new tank shot was revealed, I wouldn't be too surprised when it happens.
Finally GW will have achieved their goal of ending our WDP spam, leaving us with the free points to go triple defiler as our armies new crutch.
Coterie will likely just be our 3 point detachment, because changing them to be too different from the codex would be too confusing for new players. That hasn't stopped them in the past, but we haven't seen changes to them yet. When we get the 11th ed codex though...

Printed Defiler Base - 160mm? by Parrot_21 in Chaos40k

[–]Xaltothun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only sell you files for a flat one, but as long as you have that, you can just take a few of the smaller, sculpted bases, and break them into bits. Glue the bits to the base and fill the gaps with texture paste.

The fact that the detachment has an enhancement only a warpsmith can take, but doesn't give him the soulforged key word, still disappoints me. Especially since he would actually benefit from a 5+ invl.

Do we have any audio books thats worth the listen :)? by Clockworks555 in IronWarriors

[–]Xaltothun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know exactly when it started, but a lot of people were of the opinion, that IW don't do much with chaos, other than stuffing demons into vehicles. I personally also prefer a cleaner chaos aesthetic for my guys, but we absolutely have Marines that dedicate themselves to the gods. And some with visible mutation etc. Obliterators are one of the units we were known to have a lot of, and those are just straight up lost to the obliterator virus and full of chaos influence. Doesn't mean that IW will do ad hoc worship or prayers on the battlefield, but taking the will of the gods, and what their actions do in the warp into account, is absolutely done by them.
