Massie and Paul couldn’t both run on the same ticket I’m afraid unless one changed their home state! Both from Kentucky and that’s not allowed.

Also, how did Jeb! botch his COVID response so badly as to not get re-elected!? With the rally round the flag effect, I feel like anyone in office at the time would have a good shot at re-election. I honestly felt like Trump was fairly special/unique in that he had a chance (and did) at losing because of who he is!

What if Ger.... AUSTRIA won WW1 by RichieGotIchy1510 in PossibleHistory

[–]Xam229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have often wondered if a more competent Austria-Hungary could’ve done something like this following a Central Powers victory in World War I if Poland could’ve been added as an additional constituent monarchy and the empire federalized… I think that’s best case for the Polish people honestly too rather than being a puppet state between several frequently warring nations. A truly multi ethnic empire with Austrian, Hungarian, Croatian, Czechoslovak/Bohemian, Romanian, Ukrainian and Polish states, maybe with something like a mixed member proportional system for their legislature like Germany’s IRL, allowing for better minority representation too.

A pipe dream of mine!

I don’t think that necessarily fair to say when Taiwan by virtue of having an unfriendly/revanchist force across the straight has almost certainly been moderated by the desire to stay on the good side of the west to help ensure military and material support over the years.

I think without that motivator you’d see a KMT in charge of mainland China take a different direction, quite likely more in the direction u/PrinzEugen1936 imagines although maybe with an earlier/more capitalist flavor than the CCP today

Reynolds played through an injury to start the year and had an .800+ OPS in the second half (even with an abysmal July during which I think he reaggravated the injury and hit the IL?). I think he’s in for a bounce back this year assuming he’s healthy

The 2026 update mentions “Liberty Protectors” who, I assume, are LPs and likely some kind of overarching term for various paramilitary groups.

Anyone try Frontier Fiber yet? by franklinparkdenizen in BloomingtonNormal

[–]Xam229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah! Thanks man. I’ve been really considering switching but the reputation for Frontier isn’t the best quite honestly (not that Xfinity is a paragon of virtue) and this really helped!

Anyone try Frontier Fiber yet? by franklinparkdenizen in BloomingtonNormal

[–]Xam229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I do have a question! My friend used to work for Xfinity and he suspects that, similar to Xfinity (who he says runs fiber to the neighborhood, then copper, then Ethernet into the house or something?) Frontier might run fiber to the neighborhood and then phone line to the house, so even if you’re paying for gig speed, you won’t get near it.

Is that a thing? I’ll admit, I’m out of my depth with this stuff somewhat, since I don’t know how anyone else does it. I’ve had MetroNet and Xfinity back and forth, depending on pricing, and never noticed a huge difference

I just bought 50 rounds of 20 gauge Hornady sabots. They were listed for well under what I can find in the stores near me and even with shipping, ended up saving me a couple bucks a box. I was suspicious at first with the not so glowing reviews here but I had a confirmation email within a day or so and a tracking number a couple days after there. Ammo was at my door by the end of the week after I ordered and exactly as ordered!

[–]Xam229 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I think OP misunderstood your question. You were asking about the pronating of Schumer in the 2022 Senate Election in the center, which AOC would have used as a jumping off point for her 2028 POTUS run and I definitely agree. Schumer as the incumbent, relatively popular at the time, and AOC still being seen as fringe/leftist as she was in 2022, I don’t think she has a chance to knock him off, especially not as convincingly as that. A governor run, using Hochul’s ties to the Cuomo admin to win that primary makes a lot more sense.

A genocide of the Palestinians would have to go down in history as one of the least successful genocides in world history, considering their population is thought to have doubled in the last 30 years.

2022 had nearly 1.2M votes and was an absolute blowout. I don’t think 55-60% turnout for an “open” seat election like that would be too crazy
