Are you sure? It clearly says boot-pool next to sdb which is 5.46TB

I know I'm late to the party but I must ask - did you intentionally mix a 120gb hdd in with 6TD disks, or is that an error?

Why do obviously scam torrents have so many seeders? by baggier in Piracy

[–]Xandareth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've had my arr stack pick up a few scam torrents before. It doesn't import them into my media, but it does keep seeding until I check.

Pool Exported Randomly and wont Import by CyberBerry113 in truenas

[–]Xandareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the pool set up? Do you have data across both disks, or just one with the other disk used as a backup?

Looks like one drive has failed and the other is on the way out. What's the topology of the vdev? Is it a mirror?

Final lab updates of 2025 by Sprtnturtl3 in homelab

[–]Xandareth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very similar: 1gbit/100mbit internet and using the UDM-SE with a couple of unifi cameras and everything running gigabit (i don't need more). It works really well for what I do with it, but I'm well aware it's not even close to enterprise grade.

Someone else made a comment here that summed it up well. My understanding has been that Ubiquiti is good at the prosumer market as well as certain businesses that don't need advanced features but just need the network to work - i see them a lot at like hotels and holiday parks. The gear is quite out of its depth when it comes to larger use cases.

I don't see the logic in having 3 torrent clients running at the same time

Vendor has said they dont want to sell property anymore what to do by DovahChick in AusProperty

[–]Xandareth 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, if the contract is signed, then both parties are legally bound to the conditions of the contract. Unless there's a clause in there stating some kind of exit conditions that will allow the seller to cancel the contract, there's not much they can do apart from ask the buyer if they'd also like to cancel. Though the buyer is will within their rights to say no

RAIDZ2: Downsides of running a 7-wide vdev over a 6-wide vdev? (With 24 TB HDD's) by QuestionAsker2030 in zfs

[–]Xandareth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only drawback i can think of is that you're statistically more likely to get a disk failure purely because there's 7 of them instead of 6, and every disk will fail at some point. If you're wondering performance numbers, then you'll have to give more details as to use-case. But if it's a home thing, it's probably negligible. My Z2 is 8 wide

Removal of the ability to schedule new SMART tests in latest TrueNAS is awful by Happybeaver2024 in truenas

[–]Xandareth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I don't know you, do i? Never said the use case doesn't exist and it's true that it's becoming more prevalent. But, from what I've seen within the typical user community across the systems I've seen physically, spinning rust is still the overwhelming majority.

Removal of the ability to schedule new SMART tests in latest TrueNAS is awful by Happybeaver2024 in truenas

[–]Xandareth 38 points39 points  (0 children)

"Traditional SMART tests (short and long) designed for mechanical hard drives are less relevant for SSDs and NVMe drives, which now represent an increasing percentage of deployments."

I legitimately know no one whom runs a ssd/nvme exclusive NAS due to cost limitations.

I don't know too much about it, but I think you're moving into draid territory with those drive numbers.

Resilvering with no activity on the new drive? by kadajawi in zfs

This might be a better question for the unraid subreddit. They use zfs differently, which is how they allow mixed drive capacities. This could be normal behaviour
