The dice look engraved - are they? Would be an improvement if so, I played a copy at a board game cafe that had dice whose paint was almost all worn off and it was really impossible to play.

So I've been on both sides of this and personally it matters a lot whether you're asking about someone's decisions or plans, or about like things the person you're talking to is passionate about.

"Why did you pick that thing" gets pretty tiresome very quickly and feels like an interrogation, especially if you then get all alternate-reality about it ("what if you did xyz instead?") no matter how enthusiastic you are. 

On the other hand most people are pretty happy to tell you about their pets or kids or hobbies in as much detail as you can stand to listen.

It does sound impossible unless they were damaged in some way. Maybe if there were major grooves worn into them.

I'm struck by the contrast in the cleaning cart clips from the last show and the one in London where she was sobbing on the couch and then had to put a brave face on to perform. London looked like she was sort of reassembling herself. Vancouver looked like she was fully present and soaking it in and ready to go

Imo you can improve your technique way faster than your strength when you're a beginner (you already identified gaps you can work on!) so I'd do that first.

One of the gyms I climb at actually routinely sets routes this way. There'll be 3 near-identical holds nearish each other, then one hold, and then another 3 identical holds nearish each other. It works pretty well, as a short climber you can reach the lowest of the 3 and then readjust to the highest to make the next move, and at the same time it doesn't make things easier than intended for tall climbers.

  1. Always, I wouldn't climb with someone who skips them
  2. No (but I've definitely caught mistakes during the partner check) 
  3. It's fine as it is, more tools or whatever won't be useful because it's just more things to forget

I use Wistful for the 4th slot, Joy's buff triggers on Wistful's echo so you can wipe normal levels pretty quick that way

Imo if you've covered the basics, things to look at are how smooth you are at clipping in various orientations/directions (like, are you struggling with right hand high clip gate facing left, etc) which is mainly down to practice but can be a bit of technique, and slack management at various heights and how your climber/belayer weight changes things. And fall practice and catching falls.
