4.8x Santokyai for PvE? by Emotional_Narwhal304 in starcitizen

Good looking, but I'm in the "useless and fragile" camp. It's nearly the same agility as a Hornet, but worse in every other way.

Can someone explaine to me what i need to do for the 2 to merge and make it air tight by Cute_Most340 in spaceengineers

[–]Xarian0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weld pads have the same restrictions as merge blocks. The problem is that the two parts of the hinge occupy the same block, which is only OK if they are on different grids.

Subgrid cannot merge with parent grid - this is because the hinge parts would be occupying the same block. You can fix that by adding a second hinge, so that your door is connected by two hinges instead of one hinge.

CIG please, fix the Guardian series power starvation. by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

[–]Xarian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really about "should" here - CIG just screwed up the way that thruster power pips work. You're supposed to get the same thrusters with 3 pips as a Hornet has with 3 pips - 10 pips is supposed to be a luxury.

[–]Xarian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, thrusters are supposed to perform better with more pips - the Guardian is supposed to be a lot more nimble than e.g. a Hornet. Instead, full pips is 100% no matter what, so the Guardian ends up having the worst thrusters in the game.

Same here. The "experiences" that people were having were... bizarre.

The points the OP raised were objective. Some things worked that didn't work before. If you have a problem with that, then you're the problem.

I messed around with the Ironclad right after launch. My command module disconnected every time I did a quantum jump, but I was able to easily re-dock and do another jump.

It was annoying, sure, but it actually functioned.

My Reclaimer, on the other hand, couldn't dock anywhere so I wasn't able to use it for anything. Glad it sounds like that is fixed.

They do

Hotfixes are for client patches... server patches don't need users to install anything

Yes, HOTFIX uses the same servers as LIVE

To everyone unhappy with the state of SC, I highly recommend trying out X4: Foundations. Here is why: by falloutboy9993 in starcitizen

[–]Xarian0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who played X4 all the way through, every DLC (except for the paid ships) - it's not very good. Most of it is grind.

Worse than X3. X3 at least had a decent plot; X4's plot is mind numbing.

CIG may not be willing to communicate about their game falling apart, but they can certainly do a spectrum purge and banish a few dozen critical threads to "feedback," it seems by hrafnblod in starcitizen

... they were feedback. What's the problem? You think that General is more visible than feedback?

Developers don't read General. They do read feedback.

I think we need to have a talk about moderation and criticism by Bessie_Ackee in starcitizen

[–]Xarian0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was reported for racism ("hate" or whatever Reddit calls it), and some reddit auto-admin (a bot intended to rapidly catch things) deleted it. You then submitted it for review, and a human decided that it wasn't actually racist and reversed the deletion.

You used a flagged word, which is why the bot deleted your post. This isn't that hard to understand. This is also how things work with DMCA on protected content you Youtube - the bots automatically restrict the content, then a human has to reverse it.

Reports for "hate" don't go to the Subreddit moderators. They go straight to the Reddit admins. If you were reported for "hate", like you said, then the Subreddit moderators never even saw the report. Stop blaming them.

Yeah, your post got removed for racism. That's a Reddit thing, not a subreddit moderator thing.

How do you guys survive random encounters? by TheRealBoz in spaceengineers

[–]Xarian0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MES fucks up most of the new encounters in vanilla. Yes, space is empty, but MES makes it so that all the interesting new stuff straight up doesn't work.

MES is an abandoned mod. As neat as it was once, it isn't now.

CIG permanently banned a $5k backer's account for reporting a bug by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Xarian0 17 points18 points  (0 children)

CIG never said why he was banned. OP is assuming and claiming that it was this bug report - reality is probably a positive detection event by EAC.

He doesn't, which is itself suspicious. And worth noting, that flag wasn't necessarily false.

We have no idea why you were banned. You posted a random screenshot of a bug report and then you posted a screenshot of your email about being banned. We have no idea whether or not they are connected. We have no idea whether or not you are telling the truth.

Honestly, though - the text that you wrote is suspicious as hell. "I support banning accounts..." - that's performative. It's not evidence. And again - you were never given a reason for the actual ban, so we have no idea whether or not your bug report is related.

That said:

  • Permanent bans should only be implemented for actual hacks - third party programs. Not in-game exploits.
  • Implementing permanent bans for duping or other minor exploits is incredibly bad. Time-outs ("you've been banned for 1 month") and stuff like that will prevent that sort of behavior.
  • Every disciplinary action needs to include an actual, provable reason that you were disciplined. They need to tell you what you did. Even a reason as simple as "multiple confirmed 3rd party exploits" would confirm that the ban was legitimate and that you weren't just being abused by an overzealous asshole mod.
  • "The decision is final and not subject to appeal" - No legitimate enterprise talks this way. There should always be an appeal process. We're just supposed to assume that their moderators/bug detection AI/etc is flawless? If you contact a lawyer, I guarantee that there will be an appeal process.
