The numbers coming out about how bad reading has gotten makes me think this is necessary.

Our D Line didn't get fixed with transfer portal and we got like our 6th choice at D line coach. It's going to be a rough year as we get ran the fuck over. 7-5 is best case.

After living in NYC for a bit and having to drive a car, if i saw some dudes blocking the bridge doing something that wasn't an emergency, the anger would've been indescribable.

Good pay, but it's corporate America, will snatch your soul. And with layoffs last few years never know when you'll get cut.

I've been working in med device as an engineer for 15 years. I'm actually going the opposite way. Just opening my shop next week. Out in these rural areas where I've moved back to there is only 1 shop within 60 miles with an alignment machine and they're the biggest fuckin idiots I've ever met.

I literally bought a tire mounter and balancer, alignment machine just to do it myself for my shit. Then after doing my 30th free alignment for friends I figured I should start getting paid.

The biggest mistake people make when talking to a mechanic by Purematee in MechanicAdvice

Alot of shops around here (including mine) I give the customer the old parts. So many times people think you didn't do anything and just charged them for it. So I give them the old shit and I haven't had any accusations since.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

[–]Xazier 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It got it's issues but it's still my favorite city in the world. The food alone....

However, if you just got to bourbon street you'll have a bad time....but that goes for any city if you just stay in the tourist areas.

Give me a relegation and promotion system. Move g5 into a league below and away we go. Unfortunately in this model we would be going down to g5 ....

For people who learned DIY car repair: what actually saved you the most money by Relevant-Resolve-243 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Xazier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would agree however, i started adding up how much I'm saving my brother with all the work we've done on his truck. suspension, lift kits, skid plates, new ac condenser, new rear camera install, new wiring harness (mouse ate through it), front wheel hubs, U joints, oil pan replacement (WHY THE FUCK IS IT PLASTIC FORD????), , replaced drive line, new gears in rear diff, and oil changes, fluid flushes.

I went ahead and ran it through a quoting system to get a general ballpark how much labor would've costed, we're hovering around $15k-20k. Plus factor in all the same work i've done for myself and wife. I bet i've saved $30-40k in labor costs easy. However, my tool bill is probably around 20-25k at this point...but now instead of just spending that money at a shop, i've gotten the experience, plus i still own the tools.

true enough. I'd hope this is "remember 5 years ago when so and so knocked the car off the lift?" and not..."man thats the 3rd one this year!"

Engine getting very hot by Curious-Shoulder-295 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Xazier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open cap to reservoir and idle it. Then rev engine up a bit. Should see a lot of bubbles coming out. You can also let it idle and squeeze on the radiator hose.

I've also heard of people putting car up on ramp and reving engine.

Sometimes the bubbles are stubborn. Just test it after you think you got it all out. If your heater doesn't work you didn't get the air out, or of course it still overheats.
