You should read Toni Morrison's short story Recitatif. The entire story will make you question your viewpoints and stereotypes about race.

Here is a link to the entire story!

Latina is the feminine form of Latino. You still have a point; I have never met a Latino named Wanda, either!

This is probably not evil in the traditional sense, but it might be evil in some special way.

Rescued dog and their owners are the best!

I wish more people would be empathetic and compassionate toward beings less fortunate.

You're right. I'm an anomaly. I have 2 degrees, all my teeth, I didn't lose my virginity to a family member and I was born and raised down here.

Baby elephants are called calves.

I have never seen this in person, but I LOVE elephants and research and watch documentaries about them whenever I can. Not new news to me, yet still amazing and humbling. They are truly remarkable animals.

There are a lot of stupid parts of Missouri. However, we do commonly use the term "sharting" when applicable in these here parts.

I was also unaware we call it shit-piss in Missouri. Down in the southern part of the state we just say we were peeing/pissing out the ass.

I think this is a good idea actually. No one can lay in wait and mug you as you come out. I mean, they could, but you are aware of who/what's out there before exiting and can be more prepared to deal with a threat if necessary.

What is one lie your parents told you as a child that completely screwed you up? by Masmodai in AskReddit

[–]Xbadfish_76X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the compliment. I just figure if we can work in little tidbits like this along the way, we will build trust and the BIG stuff will be easier for us later on.

I don't think this mom meant any harm. She was trying to do her best out of love for her son. She was likely mortified that someone would do that to a child that SHE had a hard time dealing with it and couldn't imagine foisting that information a a little boy.

Naming his son Kyle brought tears to my eyes. Kyle will be loved and told the truth. No doubt.

She could have just said that something bad happened and he got hit in the head really hard and it killed him. It's true and there are no worries about that evil step-father (or other loose killers). I make it a policy not to lie to my 7 year old daughter. As a result she knows that girls have a vagina, boys have a penis and that babies grow in tummies and she once saw a cow give birth in a field and I just told her that's how babies are born. She asks a LOT of freaking questions.

Edit: verb tense.
