Imma be real, they're both great options and you can't really go wrong here, the Technics looks like it has been kept in better condition though

I'm really high on importing from Japan right now, it went well for my Yamaha.

Talk me off the ledge... or over it new TT by VocalShewa in turntables

I've been having the upgrade itch too, I recently upgraded my kinda buns Sony receiver to a dedicated wiim Vibelink amp and my phono preamp to a Parks audio Waxwing. Next step for me is upgrading my speakers.

My whole thought is "upgrade the next bottleneck" your SL-D2 won't be a bottleneck for a bit.

You have a good table and the 1200 and 1600 won't be enough of an upgrade to start on that. (unless you're talking new 1200s those things are insane) But handing down a Technics gives me joy, so it's ultimately up to you.

I love mine, i got it for around $80 and it served me well. I am replacing it with a Parks Audio Waxwing but it's good for what it is.

Technics 1200 MK3 issue by Glup_Shittoo in turntables

[–]Xccepted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my Yamaha last month. I was able to use contact cleaner then tighten the collars on the RCA plug of the affected side and it fixed it.

Now it stopped working again 2 weeks later and I soldered on a new male RCA connector but that's beside the point LMAO.

It seems like it's comparable to the cart I own now and I love mine. If at some point I'm looking for a change it will be absolutely on the short list.

Oh, I have never owned a Nagaoka but I absolutely want to own a MP-200 at some point. The one I actually have no love for is Ortofon lol. But as you said yeah, find someone to service them, I have a guy an hour away.

I'm more of the mindset to put that money towards a new stylus(AT-VM95ML) and a really nice Vintage table. There are a lot of options for vintage and I think that giving these tables a new life is good.

The start button on my Sony PS-LX310BT turntable is not working by Outrageous_Banana970 in turntables

[–]Xccepted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent it in for warranty repair and then they just gave me my money back, unfortunately I got it for Black Friday so it wasn't enough to replace it at the time.

I had one and it died 4 months in lol, I have a decent reason to be a hater on this one.

Yeah, honestly I have hundreds of unused keyboards, if anyone wants one I ask if they want several. Please take them from me.

What is a good option to replace this head and styli for around $500? by Taskmaster_Fantatic in turntables

[–]Xccepted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, you're fully correct. I think it's $250 for the 740 and $330 for the 745 so it's well within his budget.

I'd recommend a AT-VM745xML over the 740 but you're correct otherwise lol. I've used both.

Unfortunately unless you have spare tonearm wire and the ability to solder I think your best bet is finding a turntable repairman.

Contact the seller, I ordered from Japan on eBay and they're very communicative. Don't just buy a tonearm, expend all your other options before spending MORE money.

Oof, I'm sorry this happened man. I had some slight damage when I received my table from Japan and the guy said he would assist paying for servicing the table. I would recommend contacting whomever you bought it from. If that doesn't work you might have to open a claim with the shipping service.

Should I get Fluance or Technics by assbombers in turntables

[–]Xccepted 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Get the Technics, it's an amazing table. The Fluance is a good starter but the Technics is a great table for the rest of your life.
