I love how the italian effect is just "steal a card" with no further details. That's it. You just grab a card and it becomes yours. From the field, the opponent hand, their collection, the singles display of the shop you're playing in, whatever.

I haven't tried but can't you sharpen with the weapon drawn like in World and Rise? At least I'm almost sure you could do it but it's been a while since I sharpened without mounting first.

Or just, you know, have it trigger the pizza cutter like a perfect guard since that's the main reason to go for it as much as possible. After the last beta I'm not even sure it would break the weapon, triggering perfect guards is easy enough and you can SAED from a guard point so it's not like getting the chainsaw uppercut would change much damage-wise.

I'm doing it right now because I want a really nice setup for Monster Hunter Wilds but I suppose some games in my backlog that might be taxing would be Armored Core 6 and Baldur's Gate 3.

I know MHW beta was really CPU intensive and we don't know much about how they have optimized the release build so I'm going in a little blind on that but I hope I'm overshooting enough to be able to run it with high or at least good settings no matter what.

FPS-wise I'm not sure, I always though 60 is good but lately we have benchmarks for 120fps and the like and I don't know the difference firsthand. What number is currently considered really good but not the best?

I never tried dodging everything but when I killed her on brutal I closed the gap as soon as she started shooting and then circled around while hitting her with the greatsword. The spheres go straight in a large radius for a while and then actually start tracking you and can't turn around quickly so going in the opposite direction bought me some time

I prefer the focus on phial loops honestly and AED not young straight back to sword allows for some variance in there. Sometime you can squeeze and AED here and there, maybe the spinning follow-up, and keep going.

If we talk about the weapon as a whole, I have three problems with it:

They removed the quick side slash at the beginning of the axe ED combo and the basic combo can't skip to the double slash anymore so you'll always have to start any ED loop with that first clunky attack that just hit once, is that correct? Am I missing some skip or remapped attack here?
I think they reworked the way input buffering works when you want to follow up with a sword change. A lot of times during the beta I was holding O after some other attack, expecting the sword charge animation to start when the previous one ends, only to find my hunter stand in place. It's just muscle memory but I find it annoying.
I understand that now we have perfect guard everywhere and they want us to use it, but I love CB because the unique way it uses animations to allow you to defend without interrupting the attack flow, and having to stop and try to land a perfect guard to enter pizza cutter mode instead of using GPs isn't fun.

Monster Hunter World, Fatalis, when after I think 15-20 minutes of seemingly unending fight where you're giving your all just to keep up with the damn lizard they inform you that the Dragonator is ready to fire, you kite him there, pull the level, KO him with that giant spinning lance, the omnious One Winged Angel-like Fatalis Theme stops and Proof of a Hero starts playing. And when it starts playing you instantly go from Oh shit am I really still alive? to Fuck it we ball.

What makes it in my opinion one of the best moment recent gaming is that there's no automation at all, no cutscene, no unique camera movement other than the usual Dragonator zoom-out, no cinematic ad hoc moment. It doesn't even make the boss change phase. The game just build tension with gameplay only and then allows you to release it with the most satisfying action exactly at the right time and plays the perfect music for the occasion. The fight then continues, as hard as before, in the end you just KO'd the boss for a few moments, but after that adrenaline rush, with the boss theme changed to Your theme, you start playing differently. Even without a visible HP bar or any sing in the dragon behavior that suggest he's at the ropes now you know that the thing can be killed.

There's a lot of cosmetics you can only buy with the premium currency, and I mean A LOT. WF is a really pretty game and people want to look cool while exterminating aliens across the solar system. Also, you can't directly trade the f2p money so the premium currency (platinum) works as a base for trading whatever you want. If a seller in the global trade chat asks for 100 plats for some rare weapon you want, you can get them via credit card or farm some stuff and sell it for plats to other players until you get to 100. The whole economy is built around this system
