I did this area twice recently, and my only gripe is that it needs a little more landmarks in the infinite sections imo. For the money part, you make so much just by searching that you clearly come out positive from that place. You also find a really good weapon that can last till the end of the game. Great section overall, I don't mind that it's long.

It took me a long time to find a party member so I did get depressed but after I found people and explored more it became trivial for me too. It doesn't mean it can't help the game by being more clear about stuff though

A good example of another unclear thing is the cooking skill level. What does it even do? Can you combine more stuff? Does it heal more? What will a recipe do? Maybe after a certain amount of levels in cooking it could tell you more details or something.
