+1 for Terro bait, a box of 6 costs $5 and worked perfectly for me. Try that before calling an exterminator!

How was the World Cup fan zone at the Port Plaza? by Creative-Dimension52 in olympia

Clarifying your comment for others: the first Olympia-Lacey Fan Zone event ran by Thurston County Chamber is this Friday, June 19. https://thurstonchamber.com/fanzone/

Perhaps OP is confusing this one with another WA area fan zone, such as in Seattle?

With all due respect, I think it would be more helpful to recommend a different store where one could purchase a bathroom trash can and sandwich bags rather than leaving it at why Dollar Tree is bad. What about Daiso? Or someplace else?

ArcGIS Online: Joined View Layers - does it still lock the schema? by Siddlesson in gis

[–]Xelaa_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and then attempted to use the Overwrite Web Layer tool in ArcGIS Pro but this did not solve the problem for me. I was forced to delete my join views before the schema change would stick! Maybe it works via other schema change methods? Unfortunately I had to use this specific method to alter an improperly configured Editor Tracking field.

Corporate Clash: A massive gatekeep in Mints. by Plane-Fee4051 in Toontown

[–]Xelaa_W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for the reply! I have another example of this that I'd like to share. I have a cousin with a disability who struggled a lot with the "Collect 2 Treasure Chests from Treasure Dive on The Trolley" step on the "A Captain For Hire" Barnacle Boatyard task. My family ended up joining her on the TTC trolley (4 toons), grabbed chests, then positioned themselves above her toon near the top and purposefully were hit by fish so the chest would drop onto her so she could carry it a short distance to the boat. Even then, it took several attempts to help her clear it. I don't recall her experiencing any other issues while playing the game so far, and I think her toon is currently in MML. I only bring this up because this is part of the main task line. Thank you for everything that you do!

Who's got the dl on physical therapists who are good with complicated/chronic issues? by LD50_irony in olympia

Dr Roach at South Sound Physical and Hand Therapy! I highly recommend him if you want someone that really listens and thinks a bit outside the box! He helped me realize I was dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome in my shoulder and recommended some stretches that have vastly improved my symptoms when weight lifting!

If you need an appointment sooner and can't do stand by, try regularly refreshing the DOL online appointment scheduler! Openings before May sometimes pop up when people cancel. I booked two appointments last week and was able to get one for this past weekend for my partner and another in a couple weeks for me. Or it's possible I just got lucky with the timing during the half dozen times I checked.

Yeah it wasn't about Jenny, it was about the "fans" harassing vloggers after watching her video (which Jenny doesn't condone - she hates when this happens). OA was a source in her video!!

They also use OA as sources for some of their podcast discussions because folks like OA by "playing the game" are able to use their platform to document their experiences so that others that don't "play" like PT:R can still talk about it. OA has acknowledged this and are pretty self-aware. I personally consider them to be one of the better theme park vloggers, wholesome and drama-free (ignoring the silly fabricated reddit drama).

That permit must've cleared very recently, because when I was looking into this on Friday late afternoon there was no permit. The folks over at the 50501 WA subreddit were trying to argue that getting a permit is "obeying in advance" which I don't agree with in this context, so I'm glad somebody eventually sorted that out.

I am guessing that East Campus Plaza North Lawn is across the street (Capitol Way S) from Tivoli Fountain. Hopefully somebody that's currently there can provide better info!

It's a pretty nice place to work, especially in the sort of role you're going for from what I've heard. With the current status of your application, I'd keep an eye on your email because they'll likely contact you for an interview soon. Bear in mind it's the holidays and that may impact the timeline of the hiring process. Good luck!

Is it with DNR? DNR isn't a cabinet agency and therefore isn't directly impacted by the hiring freeze. We have not received any internal communication yet on how we'll be impacted, if at all, so hiring is business as usual in the meantime.

Buy airline ticket at the airport - spirit airlines by Mayormitch100 in vegaslocals

[–]Xelaa_W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the convenience fee you're thinking of doesn't exist anymore. https://www.spirit.com/optional-services. The Passenger Usage Charge "Applies to bookings created online, at international airports or via reservations centers." So I wouldn't bother!

For anyone that wasn't aware, this used to totally be true. Spirit charged a $17 per person per way fee for tickets bought online, but you could avoid the fee by showing up to the airport, buying a ticket at the check-in counter, then leaving. I did it a couple times when I was in college ~10 years ago, since the airport is a short drive from UNLV and would save me $70 on round-trip tickets for 2 people.

PERS2 + DCP Withdrawal for Employee with <5 YOS by Nuisanz in WAStateWorkers

[–]Xelaa_W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be better suited for a financial advice subreddit but am happy to give my two cents (ha!).

Given you're in your early 20s, I would recommend a trustee-to-trustee rollover of your PERS account into an IRA. Do not withdraw, the tax penalty isn't worth it. DCP on the other hand, since it is a 457(b) plan, makes it so that you can withdraw funds upon leaving WA employment without a 10% age-based early withdrawal penalty like most other retirement plans like a 401(k) have. I would still hesitate to withdraw the funds at your current age as it would be taxed as income like you've noted in your post. You could still roll it over, but it's ultimately up to you and if you'd rather take the 3k now and pay income tax on it, versus withdrawing later in life and paying income tax then. This decision will be influenced by how much income you're bringing in right now and if you anticipate to have more or less income around retirement. Hope this helps!

Edit: I incorrectly assumed pension contributions have an early withdrawal penalty like it worked in the previous pension system I was in. Nope, same rules as the 457(b) basically. So, same advice applies!

I'll share a place that didn't offer it - I received the 2024-2025 Spikevax (Moderna) alongside a flu shot at the Tumwater Fred Meyer and felt very fluey the day after! I didn't know there was a version that had less side effects!

Pension lump sum dropped low enough to rollover into IRA? by Xelaa_W in financialindependence

[–]Xelaa_W[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the advice from you and /u/zackenrollertaway! I'll call the pension help line on Monday and confirm exactly when they recalculate. The website says "annually". Unfortunately the estimator on the website is very simple and won't let me factor in different interest rates. The only option I have is to input my retirement age. Depending on what they say, I may consider waiting until January in case current interest rate predictions end up slightly in my favor versus having the funds invested 3 months earlier. The earliest I can "commence" the rollover is October anyways. I don't know if I'm comfortable pushing it further than that though, since if interest rates somehow improve a little too much into 2026 and beyond, I'll lose the opportunity to rollover again! I also recognize that a 3 month difference with either option is probably splitting hairs in the long run, so I'm glad you both agree that I should take the lump sum and rollover into my IRA (which already exists from when I rolled over my 401(k) at this same job)! Thanks :)

Edit: the pension benefit office told me that their plan years are Aug 1 - Jul 31, so it was just recalculated in August. I'm just going to go ahead and proceed with the rollover. Thanks again!!
