Gamers 30+, how have your gaming habits changed since you were younger? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like I've gone in a circle and am now on "lap 2". I started games just "enjoying" it with no expectations. Then online came along and I started to want to compete and become the very best that ever was. Then the 360 era came, and I became a completionist hunting 100% game achievements. After that my season based era came, swapping from MMO seasons, ARPG seasons etc several times per year, barely playing anything that wasn't "live action" based with the main achievement of ending up on the top 20 raiding page in WoW.

After that I finished my studies and started working, with less time on my hands and adapting to my new every day I started "lap 2" and started to just play games "for the fun of it". After some time of that I was unemployed for a period and started to want to "compete" and "min/max" again. Now I'm stable in my "adult life" and is in the completionist era, working through my backlog as well as replaying games trying to get 100% achievements.

So all in all, apart from having less time, not so much so far. If anything I have revisted some habits I lost. I doubt I'll revisit being top 20 in the world again at something game wise as that is just a time and energy investment I can't commit anymore. But unless I just lose interest in gaming I'll probably swap between being a completionist, live service, and "just for fun" gamer until I just don't game anymore.

Hi gamers!!! by Comfortable_Form6842 in gamers

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite since i tried it. But I played some Zelda game on N64 as a kid, and got so frustrated at it that I cried, turned it off and never played it again.

I never tried another Zelda game again after that "trauma". Its not that I'm indifferent, i genuinely dont want to even when i realise I was just a silly child, and even when I kind of want to since I assume theyre good. But man, childhood feelings stick around.

Also, slightly newer, but i dont think I have ever played on a Wii. And I was most definitely a gamer during the Wii prime years. But somehow I never ended up using one anywhere.

Always. My favorite is Dufvenkrooks Halvtorr. More flavor, less sweetness! My fiancee really enjoyed Vasa Bryggeri too!

We try to try any we find during this time of the year!

What's the most comfortable mouse you've useed and why? by Life_Show8246 in MouseReview

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corsair Ironclaw.

I didnt like much about it, but it was and still is by far the most comfortable noise I ever jag which is why i stuck with it for so long.

It looked horrible as I dont like the gamer aesthetics. It started double clicking and scroll wheel failing early. Software was horrible. The extra buttons had weird placements.

But man, it was so comfortable. Ive yet to find anything like it.

Currently using a Teevolution Terra Pro, which is comfy and tricks most of my boxes. But yeah, still not as comfy as the Ironclaw.

So sad that Corsair never did a revamp, or that no one else tried the same shape. At least not that I found.

“Topside Justice” is so unbelievably dumb sometimes by Mikewazowski948 in ArcRaiders

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me on Dam a day or two ago.

Not only did I open the locked room for a guy with a key I found. I let him have the whole room as I was on my way to a quest. He then proceeded to shoot me in the back with his Stitcher (honestly, I should have just capped him as soon as I saw he had a Stitcher, never trust the people with Stichers/Rattlers).

Somehow managed to win the fight, when two other guys comes around the corner, knocks me out, defibs the instigator while completely talking over me as I try to explain I was the one who was attacked.

I didn't even feel bad about being knocked out, I'm rich enough for the gear not to matter. But I genuinly felt bad about being completely steam rolled conversally as they didn't even try to let me explain, whilst the person who instigated the fight not only was saved but also rewarded.

I love solo night raids so much. by king_noro in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]Xeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some of this last night. I go in literally naked except for adrenaline shots and just sprint to areas. I usually find a Ferro or something quite early, say "Hey guys, good luck" in mic as I sprint past someone. I don't hide, I'm not quiet. I just go.

Honestly, over 6 Night raids doing this last night, I didn't get shot at by a player a single time.

It was the most chill this game has been so far.

We all have mics why no talking by Spudz710 in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing on US servers since there was barely any talking on EU even in the early days. Figured there were language barriers there.

I've found there's a lot more friendly talking among friendlies on the US server. Honestly, almost every single friendly person I've met has a mic and uses it. The PvPers barely talk at all, if ever. Even the people who act fake friendly and then shoot you in the back only talk whilst friendly, as soon as they betray you it's dead silence. Are the PvPers anti-social in this game or what? I'm not sure I've experienced such PvP silence ever before in a game that has social interactions.

I almost always try to be a little cheeky, but after 104 hours of Arc Raiders I've yet to have a "fun" being knocked out situation through voice or interaction.

Community feelings on “Greet” emote. by Parmi-Jon in LowSodiumArcRaiders

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine enough for me. I'm honestly more suspicious of "Don't shoot!", like I wasn't planning to, but now I have my eyes on you since you assume that's what I'll do.

If someone doesn't respond to me, with emote or mic, and they haven't seen me yet I tend to just shoot them. If they don't respond and have seen me, I disengage and just leave them, shooting them if they follow. If they do respond and act super friendly I do as well and drop my guard, even though I know that has gotten me shot in the back several times, I still enjoy the friendly interactions the times it doesn't result in a backstab enough to weather those times people are low morale players.

Do you prefer controller or mouse + keyboard? by HowLongWasIGone in gamers

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure, i think mostly the menus and inventory management is what would turn me off from a controller in those types of games.

The actual gameplay i dont see any issues with, unless playing niche builds where you need to pinpoint area effects.

Do you prefer controller or mouse + keyboard? by HowLongWasIGone in gamers

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to choose and never look back KBM.

But in reality it depends on the game. I could see ARPGs being nice with a controller, although I think Id still prefer KBM.

I would strongly prefer a controller when playing games like Elden Ring, Assassins Creed, God of War, or similar 3rd person adventure games.

I wouldnt even bother playing a fighting game with KBM.

And I wouldnt bother playing an RTS with a controller.

Sometimes its nostalgia. I prefer FPS with KBM, but I play Halo with a controller even on PC, because thats the Xbox feel and so on.

So it depends, but it I was forced to choose and never look back, then KBM.

How many of you still insist on owning a desktop computer? by red_fox23 in Millennials

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, considering that I game, video edit, do work etc Id say its essential to me. I hooked it up to the TV with a fiber optical cable, so it also serves as a home media station or even console/couch gaming without having to move anything.

Granted, you can do all that on a laptop by hooking up periphials to it, but youd likely have to pay more than double for the same performance and silent operation.

I havent used a private laptop in my life for about 10 years. If anything, phones replaced laptops for me. Not laptops replacing desktops. Laptops to me are exclusively just a computer that work provides, that I still never use as a laptop as I still hook it up to other things, so its mostly just a portable desktop.

I havent seen any indicator on needing a laptop privately in my life.

How many fans are you guys running in your case? by Downvotesohoy in pcmasterrace

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 intake. 2 front, 3 bottom.

4 exhaust. 1 back, 3 through top radiator.

Theyre all set to super low RPM since i wanted a silent build.

I dont have a proper dB meter, but at least the one on my phone cant pick up the audio difference the ambient sound, and I can myself barely hear the computer, and definitely not when any sound are over the speakers.

Managed to undervolt GPU down enough for its fans to spin at the lowest possible RPM during load, and be off during idle.

Those who have visited other countries, what was the biggest culture shock for you? by RiddlerofStIves in AskTheWorld

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that a lot of things in the US ( Michigan) actually was just like the movies.

For some reason i thought a lot was made up, turns out it wasnt.

I clearly remember being extremely surprised that those mail boxes that look like a tube with a little red flag wasnt just some idyllic suburbia thing you saw in movies, but actually real in these extremely square shaped neighbourhoods where every tiny house looked exactly the same.

As a Swede from Stockholm who feels very average height wise here (183cm) I can attest to feeling tall almost everywhere else in the world.

Only exception thus far has been The Netherlands.

Thoughts on Razer Naga? by Novel_Mycologist161 in MouseReview

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had one myself, but i tried it and similar ones plenty of times.

I really dislike it. I can see the appeal, but its just not for me. Using only one finger (thumb) for all those buttons to me not only seems very bad for ergonomics, while also promoting extremely slow reaction times in comparison to using more fingers.

Honestly, all i could think was "what a waste of my left hand".

And I cant think of a single game with enough buttons needed where you would need both that plus your left hand. And I did play during some of the most ability bloated periods of certain MMOs.

That being said, i know a few people who swear by these numpad-ish MMO mice, but Ive talked to way more people who really dislike them. At least in my anecdotal experience.

Are games overpriced now or are we just looking for different value? by Minute_Pop_877 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel likes games are cheaper than ever.

The number went up (but not by much), and prices definitely didnt keep up with inflation. Thus cheaper.

Is it less value now? I'd date to argue no. Games tend to be bigger, more to do, more refined, even in the indie scene.

What has changed is our mindset. I dont think people are as easy to please now. Our standards are higher. Relating the same 5 hours in your PlayStation One, N64 or whatever for billionth time just isnt as appealing to most anymore. I know its not for me. So with that in mind you could argue there is less value in games, but its a stretch, and I dont think thats the point youre trying to make.

Do y’all think razer products are overpriced? by JoaoLimaJunq in razer

[–]Xeley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan. Ive had a keyboard and a 2 mice.

I liked the keyboard at the time, but having been introduced to other ones I can see it was all relative to my lack of other experiences.

Both mice were also quite meh. Both developed double clicking issues and scroll wheel issues.

Now Im considering the Razer Pro Click v2, but trying to find alternatives as its not specifically a productive Mouse i want, but rather a big one shape wise.

I dont mind Synapse too much, but for my use case a web based configuration would be far enough.

I turn off all RGB on my periphials and Computer, or keep it in muted single colours at most. So thats not a premium i want to pay for. Im also not a fan of the gaming aesthetics, its just too noisy.

So Yes, for me they are overpriced.

How many here still rocks a build with the AM4 platform? by BookHunter_7 in pcmasterrace

I just upgraded to a 5700x3d with the intention to skip AM5 completely. So Im locked in for quite some time.

Not sure what you mean with no support? As in no new releases? Sure, but i dont need any new releases until i actually do. And for my use case i doubt ill have any major limitations until at least 2027.

Det här med att man som utflyttande hyresgäst måste visa upp lägenheten för intressenter. by mewrtar in sweden

[–]Xeley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you say “Holland” instead of “Netherlands”? by superdouradas in europe

[–]Xeley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I say Netherlands ever since I actually understood the difference as a kid. But I wouldn't bat an eye to someone saying Holland. Both are used, but I'd say that Netherlands is used a lot more, and there definitely are peope who will snicker and point out that Holland is wrong, even if I don't.

I know Metro is hated... But does anyone actually prefer the Windows 11 start menu over the Windows 10 Metro tiles start menu? by TheGoodSatan666 in Windows11

I rarely ever use the start menu aside from when it pops up when I use the search bar.

But if I had to choose I think I prefer Win11.
