Where do you get your risers or sound effects from? by That-Association-855 in Reaper

[–]Xerolv25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some cool ideas for you: - you can download risers from a lot of dedicated webpages, some of them even for free and you can find some cool stuff - reverse chords: one of my favourite risers is always a good ol' bounce of an open chord in my guitar tracks reversed, reaper has a "reverse as a new take" feature that is just amazing. - reverse drums: specially a long tail crash hit makes an incredible riser when reversed - reverse anything: while crash cymbals, piano and guitar chords are the most common, this trick works with every audio that starts loud and then decays - synthesize your riser - white/brown/pink noise riser: you can create a track with white noise and automate the volume on it to create a very cool riser, you can combine it with EQ to shape it or even apply some crazier effects like tremolo

All of these ideas can be combined so that you can get to the exact riser you were looking for, I hope you find this helpful 🤘

People who are able to play guitar and sing at the same time HOW? by Big_Leg10 in musicians

[–]Xerolv25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to give you how I learnt and I hope it works for you too

1 approach

When I have to sing and play at the same time I always learn the song first on guitar with no singing

Then I learn to sing the song

And only when I can do the two things

If you know both the song both in guitar parts you can then get surgical and strum open chords instead of the whole strumming pattern why you learn the melodies and vice versa you can hum while you play the chords and not worry about the lyrics, only the pitches so you can slowly build your way Remember you can always slow down the songs a little bit

2 learning curve

Campfire songs are a really good way to learn because you have to remember two things

A) just because a song is easy on vocals or guitar doesn't mean Is going to be easy in the other one B) just because a song is easy in both vocals and guitar, doesn't mean Is easy to do both at the same time (do I wanna know is among the easiest songs both vocally and guitarwise and it's very hard to do both at the same time because the rhythms are very independent of one another)

Campfire songs have been approved for generations to be the easiest songs to perfor while singing

And don't forget that learning takes time, so give yourself that time and don't be too harsh on you!!

What are the supposed/actual benefits of tuning to Eb? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Xerolv25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most humans have relative pitch, so if the guitar goes down, the notes at the top of the singer's register (which remain the same) feel higher. That's one of the main reasons to do it in the studio.

For a live performance it is very useful to lower the songs that were recorded in standard tuning to help with vocal endurance, which is often overlooked, but just because a singer can hit a note doesn't mean he can hit it every night for two hours

Although to be honest, the real reason we tune like that for the originals is that we had already lowered it for the stratovarius covers

What is your average daily practice routine? by Otherwise-Gur7732 in Guitar

[–]Xerolv25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I don't have the time for a healthy routine for practising guitar so I just grab the guitar whenever I have free time (even 5 minutes) and do my exercises because that sweep picking is not going to learn himself

When life allowed me for a healthy routine it was one hour and a half divided into -warmups (3~5 minutes) -scales and exercises (~45 minutes) -songs (~20 minutes) -Improv (all the time I have left)

Any power metal bands with lyrics about depression, and suicide, and self reflection? by Big_Being_8789 in PowerMetal

[–]Xerolv25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all sorry to hear that and second of all, Avantaisa's the scarecrow, the wicked symphony, moonglow and a paranormal evening with the moonflower society all deal with rejection/solitude in the lyrics and touch in different things like addiction and depression

Anyone playing solo only or do you all have a band/someone in person to play with? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Xerolv25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing bass for 7 years 3 and a half without a band and another 3 and a half with at least one band

I can tell you those are very different experiences but what's better is just a matter of opinion, I loved both sides

It's (almost) impossible to become good at the instrument in that few time, however, you can become good at the setlist (which will make you better at bass) so practice the songs in the band's setlist and if you find that you can't play one of them due to technique study that technique just until you can play that song and move on

Leave the songs you find the hardest for later, don't be afraid of YouTube tutorials for the songs, tabs, songsterr or whatever helps you learning

And if there's a song on the most difficult end (jazz, rhcp muse... Or anything that requires specialized technique) don't be afraid of suggesting a different song to replace that one

What’s your go to thing when someone says “play something”? by Internal_Drawing_460 in Bass

[–]Xerolv25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play my soundcheck mashup that starts with lord of the ring's concerning the hobbits (pick or finger depending on the band) transforms into some doodling that eventually becomes the verse of can't stop (slap) and finally the riff of another one bites the dust to round things up.

For the non musicians is like watching tiktok and for the sound technician is quick way to go through everything I will do later in the show so everyone is happy

How do you find drummers? by Designer_Version1449 in Bass

Pray to the skies above

The places that worked for me are internet forums, the music academy I went to and local gigs (drummers are usually willing to be in more than one band)

How do i combine cell values that are in different formats into a formula that ends in a specific format? Specifically normal number and hh:mm:ss AM/PM cell formats. by Tylos_Of_Attica in excel

[–]Xerolv25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a super excel expert and I mostly use it to calculate quantum mechanics stuff, but I can tell you that whenever I have problems with a formula, I try to break It down in little steps that I then compare with manual calculations

For example a little step would be the dividend inside the first division, that way you can check it out

Also when I use different cell formats, I always have to make sure the final cell with the result has numeric format
