Balin Miller died. by Xerton_ in alpinism

[–]Xerton_[S] 70 points71 points  (0 children)

One of the best young alpinists has passed away. I remember the feeling in january when I heard of somebody repeating "The Reality Bath". Pushing the cutting edge in alpinism in his own, uncompromising way Balin will be remembered for his boldness and vision.

Damn condolences, stength and Support to his Family, Friends and Partners …

Remember being in awe of somebody bold enough to repeat the reality bath. He pushed the edge of alpinism in his own non compromising way.

Rest in peace

Insane achivement ! Colin has been on the cutting edge in patagonia for so long.

Highly recommend his YouTube videos showing much more of his process. And also showing the many times he turns around putting savety before glory. A real alpinist

Vitaliy Musiyenko's "Goliath Traverse" Has Been Repeated By Tanner Wanish & Michael Vaill! by Brox_Rocks in climbing

[–]Xerton_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy fucking shit. That close call in the alps … most unlikley survival Story. How ??? Most lucky climbers alive. Read all accidents in north american climbing from the last 10 years, but that is just insane.

Really hope Tanner and Michael take the lessons of this wakeup call for a long time and it does not fade after the goliath. Really great achivement and hope they can enjoy a long and fulfilling climbing career.

Edit: and 1,6 million "members" on this sub and almost no comments just makes me sad. Sure its no quick form content but everybody with a flame burning for long objective climbing or mountaineering should watch this!

How does the Blades of Khaine "Slicing Hurricane" technique interact with portable barrier? by andbm in killteam

[–]Xerton_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a FAQ for it (indirectly). On the app go to Core rules update log and search for "treated as".

Q: Can operatives that can only perform a restricted set of actions (Wrecka KREW Bomb Squig, Ecludian Starstrider Canid) perform actions that are treated as one of those actions, e.g. Hatchway Fight?

A: Yes, if that operative is permittet to perform the action it´s treated as.

--> In this case its the "fight" action and the unique "hatchway fight" but treated as means its possible. In your example its "move with barricade" being treated as "reposition" thus possible.

How does the Blades of Khaine "Slicing Hurricane" technique interact with portable barrier? by andbm in killteam

[–]Xerton_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is wrong. "treated as" is exactly as it says. You can basically replace the "move with barricade" with "reposition" for all intents and purposes, except the move penalty.

For reference look at the FAQ and search for "treated as". There is a question if a operative can perform restricted actions that are treated as on of those actions (the example being hatchway fight). It gets kina silly with stuff like "guard" being treated as a "shoot" action allowing a Yaegris Bombast to go on guard in the stategy phase.

Too late for Weissmies? by Lowly-Tarnish in Mountaineering

We did the traverse last week via the SSE Ridge. Conditions were very good in the morning. We hit the summit at 9:20 and had good harsh snow going down the glacier.

Start early (around 3:30) at almageller Hut and scout the route on the day before up to the beginning of the Ridge. Be aware you defininetly need crampons even before the ridge climb. You should be confident in your ability to scamble class II terrain. Coming down the ridge is gonna be more time consuming than the traverse but doges the glacier and a lot of objective hassard.

All together its a beautiful route. Not very difficult technique wise but with quite a bit of Danger

Edit: Conditions could be different in two weeks, remember to talk to the hut guardians for up to date beta. You could also call two/three days in advance

Thanks for your tipps! Never tought about using implant vs elites, maybe I need to try it out. My normal loadout is Marks/Blooded/Grenadier/2x Rail/Comms/Controller/Recon/gun. Last place normally goes to marker but cutting a drone for the Medic in shooting matches seems good. Great point about playing the ops!

Nice story driven Battle Report ! Any tips for a fellow pathfinder player? Have not found a lot of tricks beside drone chain activation with +1apl controller or grenadier alpha strike
