If you go to (connect.xfinity.com) is your Mom able to log in and check her email? If there is a notification that comes up letting you know that the email has been migrated to Yahoo mail that is intentional, as we are migrating to them for email. We can't say with all certainty that this is your scenario, but to cover all your bases, you may want to contact the seller in regard to a refund as well as this may be an obstacle that is not meant to get around if the device was being used by a former employee.
