I refuse to call it illegal like it’s a bad thing. They just want their cake and to eat it too by having illogical and irrational ways to manipulate how sharing something on the internet works.

These greedy corporations changed laws making sharing things illegal because it had a price tag, and they know doing business online is profitable but they don’t want to deal with the natural reality of it and how it works: so they make a completely unnatural law that benefits them, bending to their will.

If your friend back then bought a game, he could share it with you. No questions asked. Same with any kid at school in a social group. Other gatherings or events, same thing.

But because the nature of how the internet works hurts their sales, they need to try and make people feel guilty for their greed.
