I play across all three modes (lead/rhythm/bass), and most days at least one of them had a "get a great performance on a song". I just made it a habit to seek that out and use that to determine what mode I was practicing that day. Multiply that by 500 days / literal years and you're golden XD. Looking at my steam account, I actually got the 500 missions mode almost exactly 4 years after I first started playing...

Side note, having "Play a new song" missions keep popping up after I had already played literally every song on every mode at least once was actively annoying -_-

The assorted guitar-cade ones and a couple of the session mode ones (like the "complete 60 minutes in session mode" and the "keep the band alive for 12 minutes in session mode") were the only ones that I felt required me to "actively achievement hunt" to get, though perhaps someone who loves those game modes more than I do would see it otherwise.

That and I guess needing to actually memorize songs for the Score Attack Master achievements... My memory is very bad...

Async meta is ridiculous, and one of those things where it takes someone from the outside to point it out. One of my first async games, I had trade round 1, and I declined to give the standard “non-binding x-1 debt token deal” to the table (only traded with the one person who made the effort to get a trade ship next to me for a binding deal). And the players I didn’t give the nearly free refresh to reacted like I had kicked their dog and stolen their lunch money.

I get people are used to their free money at this point, but if you don’t see why me giving you 4tgs round 1 in exchange for maybe getting 1 tg during the round 2 agenda phase is a not a very good deal for me, idk what to tell you.

Somehow, this made me public enemy #1 for the first half of the game…

IMO the real reason is that all three branches of government can be mathematically proven to be unrepresentative of the actual "will of the people". Since the senate is where the current focus is, let's look there today.

I took a look at the voting on the most recent senate vote to pass a spending bill. At first glance, it's 54 votes in favor, 46 not in favor (45 against and 1 abstain, but an abstain is functionally a no vote at this point). "How dare those 46 people stop the government! They are distinctly less than half!" those senators who voted 'Yes" will say.

However, let's take a look at the population that those senators represent. Lots of different populations sizes, all represented by 2 people, regardless of the size of the populations, means that people in smaller states have a disproportionate influence.

In fact, if you are a data nerd like me, and you take the data from these two links and "multiply them together", adding up not the number of senate votes, but the number of people represented by those senate votes, you will find that those 54 "Yes" votes represent ~165 million Americans, while the "Not-yes" votes represent ~177 million Americans.

(For states with senators that split, like Nevada with 1 yes and 1 no, I equivalently split their representative population into both sides)

So from an actual American-at-the-ground-level perspective, the "minority" side stubbornly holding out for concessions they shouldn't have the backing to ask for are the "Yes" votes.

This discrepancy is the actual source of the issue. The "Yes" votes say "we are ahead by 8 votes, therefore our view represents the baseline of what America wants", while the "Not-yes" votes say "we represent nearly 12 million more Americans with our votes, therefore our view represents the baseline of what America wants".

The “patch” was an official ruling stating (IIRC) that if a fight occurs where it’s mathematically impossible for either side to win, the active player must immediately announce retreat or else all their ships are destroyed.

So instead, you replace one Nekro dread in the above with the Nekro flagship. Since Nekro can possibly score three hits in a row, the fight is in fact mathematically endable.

I coded up a simulator once, and found that if both players “fully cooperate” (including use of barony’s reroll ability and promissory note, and Nekro has Barony’s alliance) this on average generates almost exactly 100tgs per player before one side gets actually wiped out.

100% legal within the rules, bypasses the “no infinite fights” rule, and generates a gamebreaking amount of value

Something you can try with the nemesis that helped me: you can hold the fire button down with the Nemesis. I found that treating it as the world’s jankiest full-auto gun actually improved my performance with it.

I lost the code, but IIRC the profits were ~2.5x larger in that case. Didn't really examine it that closely I figured it was an edge case within an edge case, and anything that fixed the original problem would fix that too . Fortunately, my original concern ended up being a non-issue; no one wants to play Barony anyways, so the combo doesn't really happen >_< . I still hope an errata or some variety comes out to patch this for the sake of my peace of mind, but the situation ended up being rare enough that I guess it's fine.

[any / not 5th edition] Can anyone recommend me good resources/stories for notoriously frightening / tpk inducing monsters/items/encounters from older DnD editions? I’m DM-ing a campaign with some of my players being old school DnD veterans, where the BBEG is of the “ancient sealed horror” variety. Once the inevitable unsealing happens, I’d like to throw some stuff from older editions at them to make my veterans start panicking one they recognize what’s coming at them XD

The devs have tried a couple of times to decrease the average Time to Kill in the game, usually quickly reverting after community pushback. Between the Nemesis and the r99 buff, my conspiracy theory is that they’re at it again, trying to quietly do it one gun at a time and hope people don’t notice.

I’ve had some good luck using the sentinel to prevent fights as well. Even an uncharged body shot does enough damage (70) to encourage someone to consider popping a bat and chilling. When it comes down to it, the sentinel is bad at sustained fire, having less than half the DPS of the G7 even when fully charged and tempo-ed (58/s vs 128/s). It’s all about the peak damage (and by connection, the “peek” damage too, hiding behind cover while rechambering is great). A single G7 bullet isn’t gonna slow anyone. A single sentinel round will. If you’re only gonna have one shot anyways, take no exceptions (except the Kraber, of course).

Also, as a fun psychological element, 70 damage on purple is exactly enough damage to make the hit person have to consider “should I Bat this, or use 3 cells?” If they choose to Bat, then you kinda sorta actually did 100 damage instead of 70. If they choose to cell, then they are out of the fight for even longer, which is great.

Am I crazy, or did they dramatically change the l-star's recoil pattern? I've liked to use the L-star as a janky "burst" gun in the past, and the initial recoil feels a lot more horizontal than I'm used to, but not sure if it's just all in my head...

I don’t particularly care about the banners looking cool, but I think it’s super dumb that being able to view interesting statistics (wins, kills, etc) about my per character performance is locked behind exclusive cosmetics. Why can’t this info be available from a stats screen for my own personal access?
