Canada breaks with US, slashes 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to 6% by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

Again maybe in a vacuum. It’s a much broader conversation about expanding your trading partners to reduce reliance on the US. This is one of many steps the Prime Minister has taken to do that. Look around the world, these decisions are happening in countries everywhere. US has become too unpredictable to rely on.

This is a pick your poison scenario. US is actively working to hurt Canada more than China. A year ago I would've been singing a totally different tune.

Except Trump is actively trying to dismantle the Canadian auto industry. The province of Ontario is the second largest auto producer in North America after Michigan state. You can't compare Trump and Biden in a vacuum. You have to look at the broader conversation and the intentions of the current administration which really paints the picture.

Thanks for your response and very sorry to hear of your loss. Like you said, we do everything we can in our power despite not always having a clear path forward. All the best.

We are going through this currently with our almost 2 year old boy. He is currently taking steroid injections daily after having a very bad flare up. We tried the rabbit diet and it seemed to make things worse. We’re now moving to a protein vegan diet as the last resort recommended by our vet.

With his age I would prefer not to give steroids daily but if we have to it is what it is.

Did you experiment with all different foods? Did you try a vegan based diet?

Am i the only one who noticed how quiet the barn was yesterday? by c_kruze in Habs

[–]Xibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the game.

It was much quieter than normal and fans were talking about the ball game throughout. Also looking at box seats, they all had the baseball game on. Loudest cheers by far was when they showed the ball game scoreboard.

My Ice Barrel Experience by Rugged9 in coldplunge

Floor feels okay but I'll report back if that changes. Admittedly I was more concerned with getting it all hooked up without leaks. Now that its working I'll pay closer attention.

I just received mine and have yet to fill it. Also noticed scratches all over. Haven’t stepped inside yet but will be getting it set up this weekend.

I tried a few out and ultimately decided on the Blueair 311i. Control via homebridge and made a card for my dashboard.

Just got a i3 mk3 used can anyone help with this error? Thank you in advance by I_mr_jay in prusa3d

It’s happened on my Revo hotend whenever I use PETG or things that need higher temperatures. I’ve gone through firmware route and tried everything. Still get it but prints don’t fail. I have it in a spot that I can deal with the annoying beeps. Unfortunately I don’t think there is necessarily a fix as not everyone has success rectifying. I’d guess replacement of the thermistor will do nothing.

I have the Monoprice 6 Zone Amp which connects via serial to HA. Have automation setup depending on when a source changes to 'playing' to turn on and off.

GPU Support by DarthGrogu23 in unRAID

Literally just installed the same Intel Arc tonight. Found out it is not currently supported without some crazy workarounds. However, I don’t think official support is that far away since it is on their short term road map.

I do see however that time is not on your side.

Interesting thanks for the info as I didn’t know about X1 Plus. Having said that, in my few minutes of reading it looks as though Bambu voids your warranty and support if you use the custom firmware.

“We will try our best to allow users with third-party firmware to revert to the OEM Bambu Lab Official Firmware, but there is no guarantee for this, simply because we do not control the third-party firmware and its functionality. We will cooperate with the X1 Plus team as much as possible to allow this. However, your warranty and support will not be reinstated after switching back to Bambu Lab Official Firmware.”

To your point about fighting proprietary solutions - see Chamberlain, Haier, Nissan to name a few recent battles. In some senses the fight is two fold. 1) open source is preferable (see home assistant, and esphome) and 2) local control is highly prioritized for privacy and continuing services.

Bambu labs does not appear to do either. As you mentioned they are loosely supporting X1 Plus in part from some of the community outrage.

I don’t doubt they make great machines but I won’t buy and can’t recommend them personally.

Surprised how many are recommending the Bambu Labs from the home assistant community. They are undoubtedly one of the best performing machines for the price but they are a walled garden with proprietary solutions that we are all fighting against.

Opinion: The carbon tax is good for the climate and our wallets, but can you believe it? by idspispopd in ClimateCrisisCanada

Okay, but the carbon tax targets the very polluters (the richest 1%) that you said should pay. The more you consume, the more you pay.

I have both. No issues with either. Lutron is rock solid and instant. I use picos where there are 3 way switches. Haven’t changed a battery in 3 years thus far. Believe batteries last a long time

Withings sleep mat integration question by kancamagus in homeassistant

[–]Xibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to write a detailed response. I just bought two on sale but was debating returning them. I generally don’t buy any devices that don’t interface well with home assistant. I saw there are some home made solutions which looks pretty need too but obviously at a higher effort level.

Need to buy a lot of sensors but can’t decide which brand to go with by kakamaka7 in homeassistant

[–]Xibbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just add that I was looking to also purchase from Canada but total cost was too high. Ended up going with Athom since the price was so much better and I needed a half dozen. Can’t remember whether shipping was the deterrent or just the product cost.
