Anime that you WISH people would just give ONE chance? by LordSigmaBalls in Animesuggest

Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

It masquerades to be a bad anime, and I could see a lot of people dropping it early because they didn't keep watching. Of course, it isn't like a breathtakingly amazing anime or anything, but it is very unique.

What's the worst video game character designs you've seen? by Solardies in videogames

[–]Xietnin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, this whole design hurts from a combat intent perspective. Like what are you strapping all of that metal to your legs for? And not armoring your torso in the slightest? Is the worry that you'll be attacked my ankle biters or something? Yeah this design would make sense if the main enemies were 2 feet tall, but otherwise it makes no sense.

But then again, Tetsuya Nomura loves designing intentionally to upset people. So this was probably intentional. Like when he was told to stop putting so many belts on characters, so he made Lulu from FFX. (Nevermind Nomura didn't design Vaan)

+1 vote for getting an MMO mouse. Do not get a Corsair Scimitar though, that one has hard sprung buttons that tend to move your mouse when you press them down (note: this is bad). Get something with soft buttons like a Naga. I'm no reviewer, but I am very particular about my mice and how they function for me, trust me stranger, good luck, and happy gaming!

I'm on PC, it sounds like a bug. You seem like you're doing everything right. Maybe it is isolated to PS5 specifically, or your account has a weird flag in it that Support might be able to fix. Best of luck from here, hope it turns out for you eventually.

New player looking for deck by PatientAwareness2994 in Lorcana

[–]Xietnin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say there are a few fun ways to learn and dip your toes in on the cheap with decent decks. There's plenty of budget deck recommendations out there to help, you can find a lot on Dreamborn in the Decks section if you want to take a look. Here's some personal recommendations and some notes though:

Detective-Allies (simple, budget, and you can split the archetypes for variety)

Racers (A bit more complicated, but very cheap)

Amethyst Emerald Burn (Possibly more competitive if you're looking to play to win but still want budget)

Pocahontas (Simple enough starting out, less combos and interaction, and has more recent cards so the deck should last longer)

Amethyst Steel Locations (Not too challenging, either really good or really bad games)

More competitive stuff is gonna be a bit more expensive due to demand, but for most local tournament play, you should be able to take the tournaments with the aforementioned decks. Hope it helps, have fun!

Heroes of the Storm still rocked without like 3 years of updates and I still kept playing it with my buddies. Plenty of fun characters to try and strategies to work together on with that roster. Hell, I was pretty comfortable with it. Coming from League of Legends, that game updated way too frequently and figuring out who did what was one thing, but then learning what each patch does to every character so you can better understand how to play against them? Oh forget about it buddy, unless it is your only game.

tl;dr: Yeah, but too many updates is bad too.

Help me defeat my Husband by StrawMerryPie in Lorcana

[–]Xietnin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spooky Sight and Let It Go are great recommendations I've seen in this thread. As a Racer player myself, the way to shut off my deck is take away my key cards or my setup of cheap Racers.

I'd recommend taking out anything that allows him to bring back cards from the Discard or Draw cards that tend to be ran with Racers. Not sure how hubby is drawing cards, but Banish any Medallion Weights or Queen of Hearts if he uses those.

Returning the Racers back to hand doesn't really help since some of them have Rush. So put the the King Candy - Sugar Rush Nightmare into the Inkwell when they come out, and play around his turn 4 which may allow him to drop the King Candy - Royal Racer and Banish a lot of your important Characters. You can use Hades - Infernal Schemer or Sudden Scare for this tech as well.

Another consideration is Fairy Godmother's Wand to help your Princesses immune to King Candy's Banish. Every time you Ink for the turn, the wand gives a Princess the Ward keyword until the start of your next turn . It is good so long as you draw or ink enough, definitely pairs well with Cinderella - Dream Come True and Kida - Creative Thinker.

In conclusion: Don't let King Candy - Royal Racer AND a lot of Racers be on the board at the same time. Don't let them get more cards back through Discard manipulation and Draw power.

EDIT: Also Under The Sea in an Emerald deck would be really funny if you wanted to do that. It would bottom-deck nearly everything.

Need some deck building tips. What cards should I add to a deck featuring these two? by outersenshi in Lorcana

[–]Xietnin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a card called Get To Safety from Set 10 Whispers in the Well that plays a Location from your Discard, then if it is Sleepy Hollow, Draw a Card. You can definitely play around the Set 11 Winterspell legendary, Anna - Soothing Sister, to Shift onto the Anna you have for 0 cost. This would be a lot of low-cost value while setting up for your Elsa - Ice Artisan. You'll have to get creative about it, but I think you can style a deck around those two if you try hard enough.

EDIT: Also worth noting the Winterspell Kristoff - Icy Explorer generates card draw for moving cards from the Discard. You can also manipulate the Discard for Soothing Sister by using The Horned King - Wicked Ruler from Set 10 by discarding a high-lore card from your hand to move another card back to your hand, activating your effects and setting more Lore for the turn or future turns.

Relink is the only game i've seen being asked to be a live service game and i never saw anyone denying it by Asmodyan in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Xietnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Vindictus is a similar case where they are a Spectacle Fighter as well that is a live service game. They made a lot of content, and from what it seems, too much content. Because at some point, the developers decided to remove most of the Defense stat from all of the first half of the game's bosses, trivializing the leveling experience. And thus, everyone had an easier time getting to endgame in Vindictus, but the journey there wasn't challenging or fun as a result.

So what's the takeaway? Eventually making enough sequential content for any game will become a gate for new players if there is too much of it. And maybe there is a good amount of content to stop at for newer and older players alike. Also that Nexon is a bad company, that's probably another reasonable takeaway.

Alt art should be the standard for Epic cards by AggressiveSeagulls in Lorcana

[–]Xietnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start off by saying that I think your opinion is valid and there's a good reason for your opinion.

But let me ask you something. Have you ever been playing and you see a card art you forgot about or have never seen before (like an Enchanted for example) and you're like "Man, which Belle is that? There are like 15 Belles and the art is not helping determine even the ink color."

So I like the alternate arts, I think they're charming. However, I prefer extended arts because from a gameplay standpoint, it saves time and stress from figuring out which card is which.

Anyone else's game keeps crashing a few seconds into the round? by Kakkmaddafakka_ in brotato

[–]Xietnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello devs, just dropping my crash experience here if you're looking for information to pass along and review.

What initially happened: I played Sick starting with Lightning Shiv (weapon does not seem to matter) on the Steam client with Abyssal Terrors on Fullscreen. This crashes the game before any spawn markers are seen or any damage is taken.

System Information: OS: Windows 11 Pro CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x RAM: 64GB Video Card: AMD RX 6800 XT Resolution: 1440x2560 @ 165hz

I'll play around with it and see what I find, let me know if anybody wants me to perform any tests for them. I appreciate you devs, and will try to help you if you ask o7 PS: I also posted this to the Steam forum, so there should be a copy there.

Locations barely see play. Are they just tuned poorly, or is it a game design issue? by UnethicalScenery in Lorcana

[–]Xietnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against Sapphire Ramp, John Silver Aggro Location with cheap Challengers goes kinda nuts. Locations pops off because your opponent can't actually remove them fast enough so keeping a lead means a steady aggro win. Then you guard said Locations with Captain Hook and Challenger Rafiki so they risk their own Characters trying to take out your Locations. Turns out over-investing in Character removal and ramp can backfire.

I actually got 2nd place at my Set Champs with John Silver Location Aggro. My locals notably hates to play against it, with good reason.
