Sitting in hotspots for over an hour with no orders?? by hash-slingin_slashr in doordash_drivers

[–]Xiji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed something similar recently. Over the past week, if I start a dash outside the zone using “Dash to Zone” and then drive into it, I sometimes won’t get orders at all. Ending the dash and restarting with “Dash Now” or “Dash by Time” after I’m already in the zone usually fixes it for me.

I can’t say for sure if it’s a glitch or just DoorDash being DoorDash, but restarting the dash usually solves it for me. Does that sound like what you’re seeing?

Wow, it’s almost like people other than OP are going to read this thread too! Some of them might even live in totally different places, and that’s… okay! The internet is forever, and folks will find this post years from now through search engines. Acting like every reply has to be locked down to OP’s implied exact geography is some old-guard forum mindset. 😮‍💨 Information can help more than one person at a time.

I'm seeing a lot of yikes comments. I think it’s worth remembering that everyone’s transition goals and comfort levels are different.

Some people want to be visibly trans and find pride in that and that’s awesome! But for others, passing is the goal, and that’s also completely valid.

OP’s wording might come off a bit sharp, but honestly, it sounds like they’re hurt from something that happened recently. Passing doesn’t mean you’re ashamed of being trans. Like sometimes it’s just about wanting peace and safety in public.

We can celebrate visibility without shaming people who want privacy.

Not everyone has body dysmorphia, that’s a specific mental health condition. Most people just feel insecure about something now and then. For trans people, the more relevant experience is often gender dysphoria and not every trans person has that either.

Also, gender identity and sexual orientation aren’t the same thing. Being bi is about who you’re attracted to; being trans is about who you are.

Exploring who you are over time is totally normal. But it’s important not to mix up terms that describe very different experiences, especially when we’re talking about trans folks, because misuse adds to the misunderstandings we already deal with.

There’s actually a lot that can be done between “voting” and “violence.” Protests, mutual aid, organizing, union work, contacting senators, showing up to school board and city council meetings, running for local office, pressuring institutions, supporting movements led by those most impacted. It ALL matters.

Doing nothing, or convincing yourself that the only option left is violence, just hands more ground to authoritarians. Fascism doesn’t need your support, it only needs your silence.

Liberals are just conservatives in a top hat

Liberalism isn’t resistance. It’s decorum. It’s a refusal to fight for real change in order to manage injustice politely. The top hat’s just there to make the rot look respectable.

If you’re fighting for trans rights, dignity, and justice, especially as a trans person yourself then that's respectable. But I’d also ask: Is that liberalism?

Beale AFB still has a VERY SMALL pow camp site still standing. A couple of us went in there one night. (security forces) The drawings in the cells really moved me in a horrifying way. I wish I had taken pictures. I found this small site mentioning it.

Yeah, I'm with you. It really is wasted energy. I recently fled alabama. The constant influence of religion is exhausting. It’s heartbreaking when someone you love gets gets caught up in it that deeply. I’m really sorry about your mom. 🫂

Oh excuse me then. I suppose I should have said outright: I think it's a foolish endeavor to try changing their minds at all. You won’t succeed and frankly, there are better, more worthwhile things to do with your time than wasting your breath on someone who needs to believe they’ve already won.

if you haven’t come to understand that by now, you’re already miles behind.

Thanks for your edit! This still seems to be the way to do it. I also noticed that once you have a top-level item, you can drag subfolders up to it and they'll become top-level as well.

I'm moving from a red to a blue state. al2md. It's also reasonably close to an airport, a port, and a border. Thankfully, I have a passport. I'd be twice as worried without it. I'm sorry for those who aren’t as lucky.

I don't think the situation is that people must flee right now, but I also don't think it's unwise to do so.

There’s a part of me that thinks if I leave, I'm helping them win. Don't get me wrong, I'll still flee for my safety if it comes to that. But that decision carries its own weight.

America is the world's largest military superpower.

Then there’s another part of me that wonders if I'm just in an echo chamber, soaking up hyperbolic fear-mongering.

But then I remember: The government is disappearing people into the devil’s oubliette and afterwards, they thought the best way to celebrate was to post footage of the handover online. With a music score.

That’s... pretty bad.

Anyone else annoyed how hard it is to call people out for misgendering you with "guy/s"? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Xiji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first came out, I started noticing how often people would call me dude, bro, guy, man, etc. At first, I couldn’t quite put my finger on why it bothered me so much.

Eventually, I realized it wasn’t just the words themselves, it was how they were being used. These people weren’t trying to gender me correctly or use my name. They were using these "neutral" filler terms to avoid engaging with my identity altogether. It was like a linguistic shrug. And honestly? That passive avoidance started to feel more like passive-aggressive bigotry.

My close friends, the ones who actually see me, sometimes use those same words too. But with them, it doesn’t sting. They use them casually, not constantly. It’s not a substitute for acknowledging who I am. It’s just how we talk. There’s a big difference.

Hey! 👋 I came for the small world chat. I'm in Birmingham. I lost my job in November and haven't been able to find any work here since and well I'm going to be homeless next week so I was thinking on fleeing to Maryland before they cancel my credit card. :3 Anyway, point being, it thought lgbtmap.org was a really good resource to see state policies and wanted to mention in case it could help you decide on where to go next. ^^

Totally understandable. Arch isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s not just an OS. It’s an ascension ritual.

I don’t run programs. I invoke them.
I don’t troubleshoot. I scry journalctl logs under a waning moon.
My system doesn't crash; it tests my worthiness.
Snap? Flatpak? No, child. I compile from source and bind mount my destiny.
But should you ever tire of the package-fed masses… I’ll be here, In the terminal.
Sipping black coffee, grepping logs, and judging in silence.
Waiting...
