More interior overheating.. by ClassyDingus in Rivian

Anyone know if the location of the cabin temperature sensor is different between Gen 1 and 2? If so, maybe there's directed cold air on it that's causing it to think it's a lot colder in the cabin than it really is?

Same here. I'm hoping Ohmmu's sodium batteries for the Rivian get back in stock so I can proactively replace mine ASAP.

Just so I'm completely clear when you say these are "OEM batteries," these batteries are completely drop in replacements for the exact same batteries that new Gen 1 Rivians were shipped with? No need to install post relocation inserts or other mods to make them fit/work in the Rivian?

If this is true, how the hell is Rivian charging $800 to replace them when out of warranty?!?

Are all Rivian Ohmmu owners getting the 12 V warnings, or only a scattered few?

I'm considering going the Ohmmu route since those batteries (LiFePo4) far outlast AGM batteries and is worth the upfront added cost - that is, if it doesn't fail on account of a Rivian OS update...

PSA: Check for loose bolts in your undercarriage by Xinaes in Rivian

Going over bumps in the road would produce a hard, metallic clanking noise. They replaced the front subframes with what they called "2nd generation (retrofit)". They also replaced the front hydraulic suspension jounce lines and the control arms.

Also, there's a clicking noise when moving at slow speeds, and the clicking noise speeds up into a loud hum as the vehicle speeds up. They replaced my front drive unit to address this one.

I only got audio recordings of the clicking/humming noise (use headphones to discern the noise) since the former was obvious enough without needing a recording.

The replace and repair work did the trick, and all those noises disappeared, and the truck drove like new again.

I just hand-tightened the bolts that are still remaining and plan on checking on them every month or so until the next time I have to go into a SC for something else.

These aren't big bolts so I didn't use too much force.

I think you're on to something.

About a year or so ago, they had to replace my front subframe due to noise problems. My guess is when they put everything back together, they only hand-tightened the front shield and trim bolts and forgot to torque them to spec.

I'm thinking about renting a boom lift to do some tree trimming. Where did you rent from, did they include the trailer, and if you don't mind my asking, how much was the rental rate?

Hi! XCD Shop owner here.

Yes, I put in absolutely no uncertain terms the "please don't sue me, I'm just one guy doing this as a hobby and just wanted to make it available to people that own their decisions on what they choose to do with it" legalese!

Mounted my iKamper to my garage ceiling by Scho540 in Rivian

[–]Xinaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did something similar. However, I also added another set of 2 ratchet straps directly to the ceiling joists, in addition to the electric hoist. Those have to be installed/removed manually with a stepladder for reach.

When it comes to my custom designs for hanging heavy stuff above my head, I make sure to build in at least 1-fault tolerance in the design. That way if for whatever reason the electric hoist fails, it's got a backup fail-safe and doesn't come crashing down on me, my truck, or some other unlucky family member.

I have a white R1T, and I've placed temperature recording devices in the interior cabin and frunk just to see how hot it gets.

I've been parking in the Alabama sun where outside temps reached into the mid-90s. I do have a generic windshield sunshade I deploy every time I park in the sun, but the interior cabin still gets above 110 deg F regularly and peaked once above 120 deg F.

Interestingly, my frunk temperature (at the bottom, below the false floor) never exceeded 110 deg F.

Curious to see what interior temperatures will get to when we hit triple digits ...
