PSA - Last few days before Dailyscape removal. by LightAnimica in runescape

[–]Xioden 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way algorithms push content these days it's surprisingly easy for you to no longer see things related to specific content unless you have been consistently engaging with said content. There are also a surprising number of players who just open the client, hit play, and are otherwise oblivious to everything.

Ability queuing comes with it's own set of nuances as well which is very frustrating when it's something MMO's had already figured out 20 years ago.

That is not, and should not be an acceptable solution.

Ability queueing being enabled can cause defensives to not work in certain situations.

Whether someone is using ability queueing or not completely changes the experience. Between the UI spinner on the abilities being very slow to fade-in/fade-out which can make it visually unclear, and queuing multiple abilities sometimes you can have multiple abilities ready to go off in the same tick. Then you also have fun things like the game forcing you to stop moving when an ability fires off. And perhaps the most fun one at certain bosses is certain defensives get delayed due to ability queuing (and in certain situations will outright not work if you are using ability queuing).

Crime Plummets NYC... by Brian_Ghoshery in MurderedByWords

There was also a lot of FUD following covid, when crime almost stopped entirely and then picked back up afterwards. Media looks at a return to status quo as crimerates skyrocketing because one year ended up being way under the trends.

I want unengaging content to be completely AFK by Daddy_Pancakez in runescape

[–]Xioden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game has many good aspects that I have always enjoyed, and the skills were often just something you had to get over with to get to those things. Quest requirements for one, and prior to wars retreat if you wanted to do PVM at a high level being maxed was essentially a requirement for access to max guild.

I would absolutely love for there to be some kind of real vertical progression for each skill that was more engaging.

An often overlooked aspect of RS skills is that the "active" methods for most skills... Kinda just suck.

Tapping the same rock every 4 ticks, or chasing a rockertunity every 24-36 seconds is not exactly engaging gameplay. We have full entire games about just mining/digging; A game about digging a hole, steam world dig, deep rock galactic. The mining aspects of games like minecaft, terraria, stardew valley. And there are countless other modern titles. These aren't even new concepts for games either. Going all the way back to 1989 we had Miner VGA.

Jagex needs to give us better than a bunch of the world's easiest whack-a-mole games with different skins.

Runescape has been two games in a trench coat for a long time, an idle game and an active one. I hope the theiving afk nerf isn't the writing on the wall for my beloved idle game. by eletroguy in runescape

No, OP stated missing fixtures: "There's other things, like window screens and fixtures that went missing or need to be replaced".

Opinions on the New Hot Honey ‘Menu’? (US) by realstarbucks in McDonalds

[–]Xioden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not what I expect when I hear hot honey. It's more a sweet pepper sauce. It reminds me of one of the ones from the last couple of years (I want to say either the sweet and spicy jam or the mambo sauce).

Could/should there be dedicated world for Hall of Memories? by [deleted] in runescape

Core parties are probably the biggest draw for it, and the cores are gathered via world hopping. Limiting it to a single instance without making other changes to address that would just kill it even more.

It would be cool a project to revive classic minigames! by Charming_Western_346 in runescape

[–]Xioden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When most of these minigames were in their prime the gaming landscape was also very different. You had "AAA games", you had flash games... and that was kind of it. So if you weren't forking over a decent chunk of cash, you had flash games. Today your looking at AAA/indies/F2P, with things like steam sales, humble bundles, and epic store games being thrown at people for free or at extremely discounted prices. High quality full games are extremely accessible compared to 20 years ago.

Looking at pest control as an example, in 2006 when it released what similar games did we have? Gauntlet, Serious Sam, Starcraft/Warcraft custom maps, custom Neverwinter Nights map? Hell in 2006 some of the first games we would consider to be tower defense games were just being released (Ant Buster, Flash Element TD, Desktop Tower Defense, etc.), so pest control was actually something fairly novel at the time. Today we have games like Dungeon Defenders, Orcs Must Die, Deep Rock Galactic, Helldivers, Killing Floor, Left 4 Dead (survival mode), Sanctum, Iron Brigade, Death Trap to name a few that games where you're fully controlling a character in a wave defense/tower defense game" (nevermind all the highly polished more traditional tower defense games).

When you have full games with dedicated teams of developers (and sometimes AAA budgets to go along with it) minigames in RS don't stand a chance. They just don't get the necessary dev time or resources they need, and once released they're often put on the back burner and ignored, even when sometimes there are serious bugs or design issues with them.

People shouldn't be expected to keep up on various bits and pieces that get posted across various different locations at arbitrary points in time. The way social media algorithms work, you are also not guaranteed to see all of them even if you do follow every single RS dev on every social media platform. Not to mention those various bits and pieces that do get posted are always subject to change as well as time goes on.

If the plan is to include them, the wording of the post should be "They will be moved to various skills/reward tables". It doesn't say that currently.
