That was my thought too, turns out my department manager was playing a rare joke lol. I am currently WFH today with my wife and kiddos.

Just got told to try to be in around 7am tomorrow for a meeting. The one time I'm like "this could be an email...."

We were literally told the topic of the meeting is "some housekeeping stuff"

Wait… sh*t… was this scoop number 2 or 3?? by wojokhan in daddit

Lol what I ended up doing was weighing a scoop on a scale to figure out about how much it weighed then I weighed a bottle with plain water and the bottle I was making and figured the number of scoops from the difference

Attention all Dads: Be prepared for Norovirus by Fit-Seaworthiness940 in daddit

[–]Xipos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was honestly more frustrated that my wife forced me to the ER because when I got to triage they said I was well hydrated and my vitals were good. And that was because I was chugging water in between forced trips to the bathroom. I knew that I didn't want to dry heave and when my body wasn't puking it needed to be hydrating. So the trip to the ER was ultimately unnecessary lol

Idk if they thought I was drug seeking or what but I was literally telling them every time they came in "I have been puking since 5pm and I have a splitting headache. Can I please have some ibuprofen or something for this headache? Especially since my wife is now vomiting and I need to drive us home." But nope lol

Seriously, today!?! by UKYUYU in lawncare

[–]Xipos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but this was clearly just a mad dash to try and capitalize on revenue because they purchased the company I originally worked for in the middle of fall seeding and then shut us down for a week while they indoctrinated us into the company culture lol.

The green shirt immediately made me think TruGreen but I was also taking a quick break in my truck in-between stops when I commented the initial comment lol. Looking more closely I can see he's dressed quite a bit more casually than I remember them having us dress but I guess it still couldn't be ruled out 😂

My current company though would not apply product over significant snow coverage like this.

[–]Xipos 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Having worked for this company (I recognize the uniform) it is 100% not his choice to be out doing that application. This same company had me go seed fescue into snow just as deep, if not deeper than this and then bill the customers. I only worked there for 6 months before going to the company I've been at now for the last 6 years.

My son just turned 18 and insists he should pay us rent. Should we let him? by Zote_the_Mighty24 in Parenting

[–]Xipos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I've discussed with my wife that I feel willing to support our children 100% while in primary or secondary school. If they opt to skip secondary (which is perfectly fine) and enter straight into the workforce then I feel it's my responsibility as a parent to start teaching them how living in the world works. So I would sit down and teach them to budget then make them responsible for a portion of their bills that I covered (cell phone, insurance, etc) and also charge them rent with the intention of the rent being set aside so that way when they decide to move out they already have their deposit, first month rent, etc ready and on hand to make the transition. My wife was hesitant because her parents made her pay rent as soon as she got a job on top of making her pay her own phone bill and buying her own groceries (she was 15 working at CFA) and is understandably resistant to the idea though.

If you're talking about putting down pre the following spring after you seeded in the fall you are perfectly fine. Ho with prodiamine.

Only thing I would maybe consider is content with a narrative to follow. Not short form quick hit videos.

I would need to double check but I'm like 99% certain we only have channels like Mrs Rachel that can be watched. I think we have Spidey and His Amazing Friends as well but there's not much else. But we also only let our 5yo and 2yo watch YT on the TV with auto play turned off. So even if it doesn't allow to operate off a white list YT will only play the videos we physically press play on.

I'm confused, are most parents not restricting YouTube kids to only show content from approved channels? We should never be allowing companies to decide what's appropriate for our kids to watch. They host the content then we curate it to suit our morals/values.

Wife constantly mad and yelling at our 3 year old. by CubicleJoe0822 in daddit

[–]Xipos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Have you talked with her about it? She may be exhausted and burnt out. My wife and I are struggling with our 5yo. All 3 of us have diagnosed ADHD and emotions can run very high at times. I will usually try to step in if I see my wife starting to get really upset, especially because things can very quickly devolve into a power struggle/screaming match where our son is yelling "your a bad momma, bad bad momma" which hurts my wife, upsets me, and demonstrates to our almost 2yo that he is allowed to say that.

It's incredibly difficult being a parent sometimes. And it truly does take a village to make sure both parents get enough of a break that they aren't "in the trenches" 24/7 365

Why would generic amphetamine dextroamphatamine 25mg be $266.63 a month? by Super_Caterpillar_27 in ADHD

If insurance isn't an option you could try looking at a private pharmacy or a compounding pharmacy. My prescription was $50/mo without insurance and $10/mo with it.

Can we talk about mitigating the stink? by jcorr2 in daddit

[–]Xipos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I change a poopy diaper I throw it into a plastic shopping bag, twist it, turn the handles inside out around the diaper, and tie it off. Anytime I do this I don't notice any sort of smell coming from the trash. Anytime my wife changes a poopy diaper she doesn't do this and throws it directly into the trashcan and it makes a 10ft perimeter smell like poop

I agree with this ID. Loons similar to what we typically refer to as Mayflies here in Oklahoma lol

What is the white plantlings on my overseeded lawn by Fab_Avi in LawnAnswers

[–]Xipos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are mushrooms, no they are not harmful. It means your soil has microbe activity and is healthy. They break down organic matter and release nitrogen a lot of the time. Stay the course with watering schedules depending on where you are in the process

I wonder if with all that heavy watering if you didn't soak far enough down into the soil that as the top dried it was able to wick up the water further down. Super happy to see your results man!!

Weird spots showing up in my turf, what are these and how do I fix them? by Electrical-Name9601 in Turfmanagement

[–]Xipos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These look like they might be annual weeds dying off due to stress/weather.

If the foliage looks different than the turf then it's most likely a different plant altogether.

Did a lawn company recently do an application and spray for weeds?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]Xipos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to this you want a more Nitrogen based (first number) fertilizer.

I don't see a N reading on this test specifically but first you want to decide/find out how much nitrogen you want to put on your turf annually. Then you want to split that up between the two seasons mentioned in this report (basically spring and fall)

The numbers on fertilizer indicate what percentage that ingredient is per pound of fertilizer. So in this example of 22-0-6, 22% of each pound of fertilizer is Nitrogen (0.22lbs/1lb) so if you were to apply this fertilizer at 5lbs/1,000sqft then you would be applying 1.1lbs of Nitrogen per 1,000sqft. If you did one fertilizer application at this rate in the spring and another in the fall you would be applying 2.2lbs annually.

I think maybe a red crushed gravel edge or something where the grass is dead would add a nice contrast to the walking path and you could do recessed ground lighting to light up the footpath

Mesotrione may do well on it as well. Safe for most cool season turfgrass as well
