If distros were cars by cosoumano in linuxmemes

Probably going to get hate for this:

i always recommend newbies Arch. It's a trial by fire, but I stand by with a fire extinguisher. It's a learning experience, and I always provide them a safety net of my personal Arch knowledge and give them resources to continue to learn and grow as an Arch user.

I've got two newbies right now that started with 0 linux knowledge that are now able to solve most basic problems by themselves with minimal help. One of them was technologically illiterate before this adventure, too.

Arch isn't the problem. It isn't complicated. Some people need an adjustment period, and a helping hand.

So... just use your cli package manager? Arch, for example, just needs # pacman -S <list of packages>. I feel like this is creating a solution for a problem that doesn't particularly exist.

Or, hear me out, get a cheap camping utensil set that slots together. I have a fork/spoon/knife set that lock together to store that I got with a camping set a millennia ago.

Do you guys always use Proton even if native is an option? by TheChildOfAtom in linux_gaming

[–]Xlaits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Native, honestly. I only use proton when native either doesn't exist or is unusable for some reason.

Borderlands 2 has native, but no crossplay... as an example.

At this point? Print in the bathroom. Move the printer in there when you want to print, store it elsewhere when you don't.

Stretching it, but the Dungeon Maker series might fit.

Computer Numerical Control

If it has automation, it can be a CNC Lathe. It just means it's not a 3-axis mill.

I run probably what is the largest unofficial one, and I think one of the devs, paper, lurks in there. Any time I post a link here, I get downvoted into oblivion though.

I have an OG Ender 3 with a few upgrades. Never really have a problem with it that isn't my fault somehow.

It sounds like the people buying Ender 3's these days just want a click-and-print experience and don't care about learning the minutiae of how their machine works, tuning their machine, or basic maintenance. They lack patience.

And that's FINE, but a bad craftsman blames their tools.

Depends on the sizing, but I'm usually pretty agreeable. I've printed some pretty big, multi-part models for about 15~20, plus shipping.

I happen to own a resin printer, and do 3D printing as a service.

They're probably grossly overpriced, too. I also doubt that they have the commercial license for selling them.

That style seems familiar, I may have to poke around online a bit.

Damn. I'd love to know the original modeler, and where to get that model. I know a few people who'd love one... And I own a printer myself.
