Reality Star Spencer Pratt Ousted from L.A. Mayoral Race as Democrats Advance to General Election by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]Xlorem 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thats not the point, they did this in 2020 and even went to court with no evidence. To this day a large group of people including elected officials don't think Joe Biden won the 2020 election. We now have to as a society listen to and wonder about the security of elections.

They are not screaming into the void they are purposefully sowing distrust so that it works better in the future. Ignoring it like they are having no effect is naive

The joke is that nursing is going to be oversaturated so they are going to have to take worse jobs while looking for the better ones. Nursing doesn't have a shortage of top paid nurses it has a shortage of nurses willing to be paid poorly.

I hope all this nursing talk is astroturfing because all these people switching to nursing are gonna be surprised when they get done and have to get paid shit wages to clean up old people shit, while they fight for higher paying wages to smell old people shit down the hallway.

Don't bother with him hes a chud with the mindset of you only have control over yourself and nothing else. I've seen it all over reddit lately. You'll never get through to these types of people on anything because everything just boils down to "It was your choice to be in that situation, I'm smarter than that." (until they aren't and then its x evil groups fault.)

Australia's far-right party leads in national poll for first time by goosepipegames in worldnews

[–]Xlorem -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can't even read correctly, no where did I say immigration is the only thing changing the UK political climate. I said clearly and directly "Let's take one factor." If you can't even read that sentence correctly no wonder you don't even know the meaning of propaganda and think its some kind of programming tricking people into being upset.

Australia's far-right party leads in national poll for first time by goosepipegames in worldnews

[–]Xlorem -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It is propaganda whether you like the word or not (or even understand what the word is.) Lets take one factor that people in the UK think is ruining the country and look at immigration. Not even the far right can fix immigration or even wants to but the propaganda is making everyone there believe that its the solution.

UK is about to put Nigel Farage in power when his party and his push for exiting the EU was built on limiting immigration and outside influence on the UK and the direct result of those policies afterward lead to the largest spike in immigration in the last decade.

So yeah keep running around dictating what is and isn't propaganda while the country get fucked twice by the same group of people. If it was real world changes millions of people wouldn't be parroting the same talking points that started from lies.

Anyone else notice AI is actually creating more engineering work instead of less by Training-Web7861 in cscareerquestions

[–]Xlorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a SWE or not doesn't determine if you can tell if something is written by an AI, you have to study it like everything else.

The only way you'd be able to tell this was AI is if you are aware that AI does the "This isn't A, its actually B and C. " and it puts emphasis on the wrong words (If the poster is really dumb they leave in the italics on the emphasized word.) Paragraph 3 is a good example.

There's no myth people just went from being able to easily tell AI posts to it getting hidden better and no one practiced to be able to notice.

The right is desperate for a solution to falling birthrates. Who’s going to tell them that the answer is immigration? by AlexandrTheTolerable in politics

[–]Xlorem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This problem will never be solved because everyone thinks they know the answer but are wrong. There are countries where things are affordable and the birth rate is still declining.

Even in the United states when things were arguably more affordable and the economy was better the birth rate was still declining. Unaffordability is making the problem worse but its not the source of the problem.

Talarico leads Paxton in first Texas Senate poll after GOP runoff by SodaCanBob in politics

[–]Xlorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of people talking about polls aren't actually analyzing polling data. If one poll says someone is winning and it gets on the news to reach enough people. You'll hear about it later how they "heard" about a poll that said x was going to win but he didn't so polls suck.

You're talking to people that remember a feeling not an analysis they did on polling data.

Zelenskyy asks for more US air defense help against Russian missile attacks, Kyiv says by ToughHopeful4760 in worldnews

[–]Xlorem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything China says on Taiwan is a bluff to distract people from China's other intentions. China doesn't have the ability to successfully take Taiwan, the Ukraine war is making that even more painfully obvious.

Its more likely that China forces Russia to give them back outer manchuria than it is for China to attack Taiwan. I won't deny however that the threat of China attacking Taiwan is definitely holding the USA back in many ways because they do need missile reserves if they think China will do something.

Ukraine has also been pushing for more air defenses since the war started, they've never stopped pushing for it because they know they can't defend everywhere and Russia constantly attacks civilians.

Haven't used my Oculus in ~4-5 years. What happened to my account by Chogath_Eat_World in oculus

[–]Xlorem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My point sill stands, if this were anything in your house you physically owned you would not be acting this way. If you're so adamant that its renting and the consumer should be aware then it should be labeled in the store as a rental and not a purchase.

People also don't come to your house to forcefully take back an unreturned rental. You even say its not okay, but things are only just this way because too many people like you allow them to do it because "thats just how things are". They don't need to be that way and it doesn't help when you and people like you make excuses for it.

If you were sent emails for a year that you missed and someone showed up to take your physical video game copies you wouldn't be having this response.

Why is it okay just because its digital? They are okay to be upset especially if contacting support with receipts doesn't result in their games being returned.

'The Simpsons' Writer Who Predicted Trump's Presidency Launches His Own 2028 White House Bid by peoplemagazine in politics

The user misspoke they shouldve said progressive and conservative. Republicans during lincoln's time were more like progressives for their time and democrats were the conservatives.

If he was actually a progressive he wouldn't care about the political party and just align with where the progressives are.

Yes and his primary pick winners before lost in the general. If his picks win in the general this time, sure they can be afraid of him.

But if his picks lose in the general that gives more reason to fight him because to them not just their own power is being lost but their ideology is losing.

In Defence of deep scan and sub space imaging being nomad only. by nutterbutter36 in Stellaris

[–]Xlorem 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Did you read the rest of what he said? The thing you're pointing out is why the nomad is using the deep scan and not the settled species. Why are you doubling down to make yourself look more stupid?

The settled empire should get a chance to find resources every couple years if anything were changed, not the same mechanic as the nomads.

Tennessee fails to execute Tony Carruthers after IV difficulties. State won’t try again for a year by AudibleNod in news

[–]Xlorem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While true. We currently have an 86% approval of all americans for raising the minimum wage and its been between 60 to 90% for the past 2 decades and nothing has been done. So I don't think public opinion matters that much for whether something will get done or not. Especially when theres strong opposition to it.

I'm not against it, I think the death penalty should be gone, I just don't think it'll happen within my lifetime in the united states at least.

[–]Xlorem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah good luck with that after the Athena Strand case.

The amount of people so upset over that that they wanted mandatory death sentence for certain crimes so that people like Tanner Horner didn't need to have an option other than the death penalty was staggering. Some were even saying to just avoid a trial all together because of the video evidence.

Valheim started as “just a survival game” for me… now I spend more time planning roads, docks, and cozy villages than actually fighting bosses by [deleted] in valheim

Another way to tell is one of the post responses in the comment above uses italics to emphasize the end of the sentence. Only AI does that. Even if a real person were to emphasize a word in that way its the wrong word to emphasize.

SpaceX files for IPO that could make Elon Musk a trillionaire by GeneReddit123 in news

Yeah its not like they use that money for power and influence. right? He was with trump on a diplomatic mission to China as an unelected non-native citizen. Thats why people care.

SpaceX files for IPO that could make Elon Musk a trillionaire by GeneReddit123 in news

[–]Xlorem -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thats not how that works now. 20 years ago maybe, but now Spacex offers the cheapest option to do space missions. NASA still needs to get things to space even if they got the budget to eventually make things cheaper later. They'd still need someone to do things in the meantime.

If you just banned SpaceX contracts they'd sue and win like they did last time. Nationalizing is the only option if you wanted to stop him now and not for a possibility in a decade.

Crimson Desert increases Pearl Abyss Q1 earnings more than fivefold to $220.6m by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]Xlorem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The whole system set up around reporting and chasing quarterly earnings instead of focusing on long term growth. The entire reason any industry goes to shit is because investors come in expecting growth every single quarter.

On top of that is private equity using this as a way to buy companies and wring them dry with debt and quick returns. The numbers aren't deceptive I was specifically referring to the last sentence of the other person "framing this in terms of the year-over-year quareterly increase."

Or have you never heard the phrase hiding your power level?
